Dear Readers,

I've been an AudioPhile for some years and spend a lot of money on sound systems and Speakers in the last 20 years. Some Nerds saved it for a nice car instead.

Big Pull & Push Tube AMP and Trans Mission Line Subs are some of the sets I've had in my possession. I was even so Mad about getting the best equipment that I've bought some interlinks cables of 150 euro a piece. Thinking that Bigger is Better.

20 years later I know what really matters.

I've bought a no nonse toroidal transformers Amplifier from Cambridge and hooked them up with a Pair of Infinity Delta 40 speakers.
I can say that all the reviewers that didn't like these speakers are ready for some Logitech equipment from the cheap Media Centers and should stay away from these forums. You are not ready for these Speaker where Angels & Sirens sounds can be heard from.

If you hook-up these speakers and put some time in Room Orientation and measuring them out at the point in Millimetres, so that the pair is in balance, at both sides of the room and especial at the front. You will hear a Sound stage that is captivating the whole room. These speakers are producing such a very clear and honest sound, that bad recording are also played back Crappy in sound.

But... If you play a Great Recording... A great power is present in your room! Great in stereo depth and quick reaction time. The bottom is 38 Hz. For the most recordings in MP3 it will be a disappointing of lack in depth. Not every recording is at his best.

I've connected a Rel Q150e SUB at 38 HZ Cross-Over point and 50% Gain output.
The Sub is now integrated in the sound system that my home sound is overwhelming.

Never before I've had a system that produces so much Music Depth, Response Time & Stereo Image. These speakers are made for the real enthusiast High End Listener who knows how sounds are produced.
Maybe a Real AudioPhile has to learn that less is really More.

Great Speaker set if you are willing an able to spend many hours in perfecting your set-up.
If you don't, the speakers will give you a bad feeling and lack of soundscape.

Regards,

Marcel Severein

I don't know much about speakers. Well.. I don't know much about anything that has to do with hi-fi system. But I know what sounds good and what sounds bad. And in my humble opinion, these sound absolutely fantastic. If anyone can find a better sounding speakers for 400US a pair, please let me know or post a message here. I would be very suprised if there was any.

Superb sound. I have seen alot of good and bad speakers but these have to be one of the best. Complement one of these with a sub woofer and you'll have a speaker system that will be hard to beat... at any price.

Make sure you use the spikes provide as they do make some difference when playing extremely loud.. and I mean loud enough to permanently damage your hearing.

I own an old pair of Infinite QE speakers, and I haven't listened to the Delta 40. So what I'm doing here? Well, it's probably close to impossible to find a pair of QE speakers anymore, but some Infinity models sporting EMIT tweeters are still out there, and since my QEs have this tweeter, this seemed a good place to spout some praise for the only component in my system that hasn't changed in 15 years.
During my ownership of the QEs, I've auditioned maybe a half dozen other speakers in the sub-$1500 range (probably the QEs went for 3-400 a pair new?). None of them unseated my long-standing favorite. Recently I heard B&W Matrix 1, listed $1200, used $600. That speaker was quite good, with plusses of firmer bass and midrange, good pace and timing, and good dynamics. But also more upfront, or 2-dimensional. Overall, the QEs won again, for more exciting treble, more quickness, more involving midrange, and just a quality of magic that's indescribable. Speakers should be magic, that's more important than any other single sonic quality. I think it's the tweeter.
For associated equipment, I have a Bryston 3B amp driving Straightwire Rhapsody wires. I found that a mechanical connection of the wires to high-quality bananas, at the amp end, sounded better than the spades.
I'd definitely put Inifinity products on your list to audition if you are in the under-1000 market, and even if you can afford better they deserve an audition.

Strength:

Very musical sound reproduction. Smooth easy to listen to yet powerful enough to shake the walls of the neighbours house.

Weakness:

Grill is hard to take off

I had these for about 6 months now and I have to say that I agree with most people who wrote a review for this product. It is absolutely brilliant. It hasn't dissapointed me in any occasion and thats something no other speaker has been able to do. Not only that they look sexy. I got the Oak finish and it looks absolutely marvellous.
These speakers actually make listening to crappy music pleasurable. I found myself listening to music I never even touched before.

I bought these primarily for music. But as time passed, I acquired a DVD player and thought that I would need a center channel. But I was wrong. These guys do the job and then some, reproducing every little detail to perfection. These speakers really define what Infinity is all about and products like these have made Infinity famous around the world.

I dare you to buy anything else in its price range after litening to these speakers.

Strength:

Everything.. Sounds absolutely gorgeous. Not only that they look fantastic.
John must have jooked it up to his 10w 4in 1 stereo system because they can reproduce that perfect sound at all levels.

Weakness:

None that I can think of. Maybe the price I had to pay compare to Americans.

These speakers are wonderful. They sound crystal clear at all sound levels. And I don;t know what John is using, but I have a Yamaha v795a and even with the volume dialat 1/5th this thing is pumping out volumes like you woudn;t believe.
And the sound quality is unbelievable.
I went to my local hifi store knowing what I wanted. B&W dm305. But the salesperson handed me a remote for 15 other speakers and left the room. I said what the hack.. and started to flick through the various choices.
1. POLK RT400.. not bad...
2. B&W DM305.. pretty nice..
3. Mordaunt Short 816.. Are these speakers?.. I think not
4. Mission 774.. very smooth but not as nice as B&W DM305
5. JBL HLS 814.. fantastic for the price.. but little brassy
6. Infinity Delta 40.. well there was no need for me to go to 7-15.. I just stopped there and stared. And suddenly the Delta40 seemed like it was in completly different class to 305s..

sure these cost me about twice what 305 would have.. but I seriously think they are about twice as good.

These speakers not only sound good, but they also look good, too. I picked up a pair for around $200 each including shipping from Onsale.com, and I couldn't be happier with them. They put out plenty of bass for an apartment dweller like me, and mids and highs are much better than anything I've ever heard in this price range for a speaker with 8" woofers. Best speaker in it's class I've seen for the money I paid.

Strength:

Very clear sound. Rich supple bass.

Weakness:

Pegs break too easily... super glue serves as a good solution.

These speakers are absolutely wonderful. I liked them so much and went out and bought pair of Infinity Delta 60s. I have my Delta 60s hooked up to my HPS-1000 and my 40s to the HPS-500. Both sound terrific. I've always been curious about the increase of clarity if it were a ribbon tweeter...but for now, I won't whine.
