Strength:

Nothing

Weakness:

Everything

These are by far some of the worst sounding speakers I have ever heard. It distorts almost at mid volume and beyond plus the grills break to easily.Infity is going to the dogs.My Polk R30s are much better.

Strength:

Good looks (esp. w/o grille on) Small footprint/spacesavers Good mids and highs Better than similarly priced Bose and Polk Audio models

Weakness:

The bass takes tweaking, but sounds very good if you don't mind that there isn't a tremendous boom. Still, you can skip the subwoofer with these, unlike the Polk R50s.

These speakers are a good value for their price, but lack the lower bass of pricier models. They have good fidelity and can be played at high volumes without too much distortion. The bass problem can be solved in large part by putting on loudness and bass boost since the sound doesn't seem to distort much even with both those on. With only 5.25 inch woofers, the lows are actually better than I expected. The highs are great, as are the midrange sounds. These are much better than the Bose 301 V series speakers I considered, especially when it comes to the sound of the bass (tight as opposed to muddy and booming). GREAT for classical and jazz, and at least tolerable for Hip-Hop if bass controls are cranked. These speakers are pretty much equal to the Polk R50s I checked out on mids and maybe a teensy bit inferior on highs, but blow those out of the water as far as the power of the bass goes. You don't need a subwoofer with these speakers, so I recommend them highly, unless you can afford to shell 600 or more a pair on better speakers. I'll be putting these attractive (black and silver) speakers in my dorm and ditching my precious but blown Tannoys.

Strength:

Very high quality of sound..Cabinet is well constructed. Good crossover network.

Weakness:

In my opinion there are none. You should not be looking for extremely low end response from 5 1/4 speakers.

Primus 250- I think infinity has put a lot of time and experience into creating this speaker. Infinity uses a really good crossover network in this speaker. The bass is tight, but not very powerfull. The midrange is good and the highs are crisp. They sound very good with the entra line of subwoofers. It is a good speaker for $399.00 If you are looking for deep bass you need to look at something else, but if it is absolute quality you are searching for, these will make you smile.

Strength:

Size, looks, price, good mids and mid-bass

Weakness:

Soft sound, feel overloaded on high volume

I decided to share some thoughts about these speakers because no one else did it yet. I don't know is it because these speakers are rather new or no one interested in main speakers for only $400 per pair (could be found online even cheaper, for about $300). I am building my first hi-fi system, which I prefer to call "upper hi-fi", whith more or less quality components and a decent sound. I intend primarily to listen to CDs in stereo mode, so I am looking for a pair of quality floor-standing speakers. But I would like to save some dough as well, so I listened to Primus 250 twice at two Curcuit City locations. I would say that for their size and price they do the job pretty well, they have depth and good mid-bass. Low bass, though limited at 49 Hz, is strong and tight. Highs are not very crisp, but this can be corrected by adjusting the timbre on receiver. Well, I also listened to Polk Rti8 which were right nearby and I must say that new Polks sound very good, highs are very crisp, and mids are not mushy at all. Good soundstage as well. I friend of mine told me that a normal person usually considers the sound with more prominent highs to be clearer, so I adjusted timbre for Infinys to add more highs. Did not work as well as I thought. Even with almost as much highs as Polks had, Infinitys were somewhat... gooey, not crisp. I like crisp, dry sound and clearly Polks delivered. Well, they almost twice more expensive. And they did not feel overloaded at higher volumes. So, even while Infinitys are good for the price, I would not buy them for audio only, maybe for a theater installation.
