In my humble opinion, the best speakers for under $200 are the JBL HLS610's. I just got these for my 'secondary' system. Amazing soundstage, response, and detail. I have a pair of 2000.2's I purchased from Damark as a 'tertiary' system for my home office. My primary system is in my family room, my secondary system, in my bedroom. These speakers are very average. Despite having monster interconnects and quality electronics (Yamaha discrete output, hi current amplifier, Nakamichi CD player, Onkyo P-304 preamp)connected to them, the sound is often a bit confined, boxy, and a bit muddled. This even with excellent quality source material (Roxy Music's 'Avalon', Alan Parson's 'Vulture Culture', or Lee Ritenour's 'Festival', for example. Perhaps, this is due to the inherent limitations of small speakers in general. Then again, I have heard countless compaints that Infinity's quality has gone downwards with some of their product line. It could be that this particular speaker is geared for the 'mass consumer', and not the audiophile, given it's inexpensive price. I still think Infinity could have done better with this speaker though. It lacks in many areas. |

Bought my 2000.1 @ J & R Music World for$129.00. Nice little speakers! Strong and not too bassy or bright. But I miss my big sound Boston Acustic A 150's. Not enough space, had to give them away. These speakers are really nice and a good value for the money. Holding me over till December 98. I plan on using them as rear speakers when I buy my Boston Acustics with the powered subwoofers and get the DVD system hooked up. Worthy buy. |

Have these in my dorm room...good for small room listening. Nice imaging, excellent clarity, in all frequencies too. The bass isn't deep, but is very tight, and very accurate. A small sub with these would make a kick ass bedroom system. Overall, very pleased, as usual with Infinity. Powered by a Yamaha R-V902, Yamaha CDC-502, with crappy Radio Shack wire (eck!). I recommend them to anyone who wants clear sound in a small room. |
