The RS1's are a wonderful value (especially if you can get them at a discount). The sound is very smooth thanks to the time aligned tweeter, and the bass is very deep for such a small speaker. They also cost less and have better specifications than Polk Audio's comparable bookshelf speaker!

Use them as front effects with my Yamaha DSP-A1G.
The speaker is Ok for small rooms with a good sub or even better as front effects or surrounds.

They are built excellent for the money.
On sale at circuit city for $100 a pair.

Nothing to complain about here! These little speakers have really clean sound. You can't expect incredible bass from a 6-1/2" woofer, but they're awesome with a powered sub!

Great sound and even better value!

Bass response

I bought a pair of these Infinity RS1's from Mercata and got them for a total of $71 shipped using a Power Buy and their $50 Mercata 1st time buyer deal. These RS1's are being used as the rear speakers for my home theater setup. Just to see how they'd perform as main speakers, I hooked up them as the main speakers, and played some CDs and listened to the audio output of these small speaker. I thought they imaged well, but sounded thin around the mid-range, and due to their size, couldn't deliver too much bass. Listening to Shania Twain sounds good, but pump in some Boston, and the speaker's limitation become apparent. But they had a pleasant sound, and are very suited as rear speakers. But if you are in a pinch, you could also use them for the front speakers in a HT setup with a powered subwoofer and decent center channel, they are that versatile. Just don't use them as the mains for music only environments. A very good value under $100 for the pair.

I use them as surround with my RS3 and CC2 for home theatre set up. They sound good for surround. I don't have DVD player so I don't know if they work fine until AC3 or not. As long as I use them for Prologic, they are OK for the price ($99 + shipping from Citi Shopper of Citibank).

I've had these speakers for over four years (paid $125 for the pair ) and they have performed well enough. You can tell the Infinity quality just by picking one up. SOLID LITTLE SUCKERS. The highs are the strong point as the bass gets distorted at higher volumes. These would be great speakers for a lower wattage stereo system.(or rear channel for home theater application.) I think they are an honest three and one half stars. I'll be conservative and give 'em a three.

I picked up the RS-1 as my surround speakers to work with my RS-3 front and CC-1 center channel. They are hooked up to a HK AVR-55. I know that the HK could easily power bigger better speakers, but I'm sure the neighbors would not approve. I really think that this combination works well, and the sound quality and detail are excellent. The RS-1 has greater warmth and very precise vocals. Better than any other small speaker I tested. The Polks by comparison are very harsh, and the JBL speakers lacked vocal clarity. These RS-1's are keepers.

Strength:

Stronger Vocals than other center channels

I recently went to Circuit City in search of an inexpensive center channel for my surround sound system. After reviewing the different speakers, the salesman pointed out to me that he had a single RS1 shelf speaker available with the same capabilities of the center channel I liked. It was their last RS1, left over from an "open box" pair that was broken up by a previous customer. I compared this single speaker to the ~$150 center channel and found it to have the same exact speakers. Because this was an old "open box" left over from September, he was willing to sell it to me for only $29.00. He replaced the center channel that was playing with this speaker and I thought it sounded as good, if not better! For the money, I felt that it was an extremely good deal and later found that the RS1 Speaker performed very well in my system as a center channel. I am very happy with this purchase.
