Strength:

This is an oustanding value. For a better than average home theater, this is a great package. (Plenty of Punch!)

Weakness:

For music its got great clarity, but as we all know, satellites lack midrange.

When I first started shopping fot a satellite home theater speaker system, I was convinced that the best out there was Bose. Oh how little did I know! I searched around for a while and realized I would have to spend over $1000.00 for a good satellite system,(Wrong!)I went to a local electronics store ready to purchase the Bose Acccoustamass system for $1200.00. As fate would have it, the dealer only had the system in "white". I wanted black and was'nt going to go home empty handed. So this sent the salesman scrambling. He proceeded to pull me into a diplay room and asked me if I had ever heard of a brand named "Jamo". I said no, what do you have? He then told me that he actually preffered this system "The appollo" over the Bose system. I was hard pressed to believe this, so he put in a movie and showed me what the system had to offer. Wow! I was totally impressed, great bass, perfect detail, I was engulfed by these tiny but strong speakers. He proceeded to tell me that this package was only $800.00, and they had it in black. Sold! This system is all I wanted and more. For the true audiophile I recomend larger speakers with more of a midrange and higher power handling. For me, I will listen to my movies through the Appolo System(My "A" speakers), and for music I will listen to my larger floor standing speakers(My "B" speakers)I was a bit dissapointed to hear that some of the people who have purchased this system through other sources paid for far less $$$, but I still feel that this sytem is a great value.

After taking many demos of these speakers next to other "mini" systems from various manufactuers like Bose acustimass, Infinity's CMS series, and even Energy's Take 5, I have found that Jamo has done an excellent job with this new mini system. For a long while I was especially hot on Energy's Take 5 since it was number one. But my only reserves were that it was older technology, so to say, and for the price of the system, I could only get an eight inch sub instead of a ten inch like the Apollo system. As far as handling power coming from the receivers, there is none that I could tell. I can't really turn them up all of the way to test how far they will go since I live in an apartment, nor will I ever since it could damage them. The sound is crisp, precise, and matched across the board with the speakers. All five of the satilites are the same and therfore produce equal sound distribution. I am very happy with the price I purchased them for, around $560 before shipping. For not having them money for anything bigger, or the living space, I would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a mini theatre speaker package to look into these, even over the Take 5 system.

Strength:

Great sub, small sat. speakers

Weakness:

none

The set is awesome, I looked at the bose and this system blows it away. I also looked at the energy take 5. I came to buy the Jamo Apollo from www.soundpros.com for $495. I will never go to the theater again. I also have the pioneer c302d. The sound is better than the theater. I will not bash Bose, only to say I got a better system for 1/4 of the cost of the Bose. Buy it you cant go wrong.

Strength:

Great sub... very solid sound. Blows bose speakers out of the water. Awesome for the price. As good as bookshelf speakers in my book.

Weakness:

Good thing I don't have these speakers in a 2000 square foot room... or else you need bigger ones.

I went to fry's to pick up a $400 Kenwood 504 system for my friend. But he said that the speakers were way to big... so the guy showed us Jamo system. I haven't heard of Jamo, but the sound blew me away. It truely does produce a lot more power than it looks. Don't be fooled by the smallness of the speakers... they can bring your neighbors to your door.
The sub is unbelievable... if you decide to purchase this system, I hope you don't live in an apartment. The sub can bring the house down, so to speak... I tried Jurassic park dts, MI2, Mummy returns... and man I felt it in my heart.
I am using a Sony str-de1075 receiver... and it also helped produce more power than I will ever need. The sub has 2 inputs to produce more bass, which the receiver handled quite nicely.

Strength:

Sleek, small, and relatively cheap. Great for movies.

Weakness:

Not all that great for music, but that is to be expected of speakers this size.

After having owned these speakers for some time, I have become very fond of them. They are very compact (perfect for the dorm environment I'm in) and sound pretty good. They are great for movies, but lack some midrange when playing music. Comparing these to the Energy XL16 (bigger bookshelf speakers) I have at home, I can clearly tell that the bigger speakers have a fuller sound. You can't expect speakers of this size to compare to towers or bookshelf speakers in terms of music production. And I intend on upgrading my fronts for better music production when space is no longer a restiction for me. However, for my situation, these speakers are a great buy for only $500.
