Strength:
Everything.
Weakness:
Nothing. You remember that old dance song called Bass? Well, I cranked my amplifier all the way up last night and sent that song to these speakers digitally from my PC, and dust started to fall from the light fixtures and fans. It vibrated figurines off of the dresser in the back bedroom about 60 feet down the hallway. My Neighbor (good friend) appeared at the door about 2 minutes later and said “guess you got your new JBL’s”. He lives 2 houses down from me and said the glass in his coffee table was rattling. That is 75 yards or so to his house. I don’t know who the guy was that said you needed a sub woofer with these, you don’t. Most incredible speakers for the money I have ever heard. Low listening levels are just as full of sound. You don’t miss a note and they are at the level they need to be. Best money I have ever spent. Strength:
Very nice to look at,fit and finish was good, nice binding post.
Weakness:
Really only the poor audio(music) reproduction Well its better than a Sony but not much.If you have not bought em' yet better look around if quality sound is important.I got a pair of these cheap in a trade,to replace some much smaller spkrs but the 3x smaller sound much better for discerning ears, imo. The fit and finish were good,I really liked everything but the sound. The highs were bad, mids bad but the lows were not too bad. This speaker will satisfy lots of people but if you plan on music,I dunno.Lets just say that you can do much better for the same money or very close, nothin' personal, they just sounded cheap to me compared to what I'm used to. Similar Products Used: I won't go there but many of the "popular"models. |

Strength:
Superb sound, contemporary styling.
Weakness:
Deck grey baffles and grey feet would look better in black. Remember those Maxell tape print ads where you saw a profile of a guy sitting in an easy chair in front of a speaker and his hair is blowing back, his martini is flying off the table by that incredible sound eminating from his speaker? Well, that's exactly the feeling I got from JBL's E-100 loudspeakers. I'm using a new Parasound P/HP-850 Pre-Amp and a 14 year old Carver TFM 45 amp, and maybe a 18 year old ADC Graphic EQ. Most of my stuff is old like me. These are awesome speakers. The mids and highs are beautifully articulated. The sound is clear, crisp, high definition, yet very smooth. Not the case at first when the JBL's were mated to a Carver CT-17 pre-amp. At concert levels certain passages hitting the mids and highs just hurt my ears. The Parasound pre-amp took care of that. On the bottom end, gobs of bass. I eq'd some more bottom end for fun and cranked them up until things were vibrating off the shelves. Result? Precision low end undulation. No boomy, muddy, garbled slop at all. I just kept wanting to turn the volume up more, and more. No fatigue, no headaches, no ear ringing. A real pleasure to listen to at any volume for extended sessions. Cosmetically, the slim profile really throws you off as these speakers come alive. You just don't anticipate that bigger than life sound coming out of them. They're elegant and unobtrusive as far as width and height. What you don't notice is that they're fairly deep. The weight and height makes them a little awkward to move. Good Stuff! Similar Products Used: Allison AL130 |

Strength:
Good highs FULL mid Great base but not so much that it drowns out the Sub Slim profile for haveing 10's
Weakness:
None really yet. Kinda big for the BEQ but that was on me buying them not on them being overtlly large. Wow I found the hole in the mid bass i have been missing with cube speakers. There not gona goto the bottom of the freq range even with 2 10's but there not ment to. The Highs are high the middle is full and the bass is there, but not trying to compete with the sub (and it shouldn't) Def worth the money, expecally with the free shipping. I'm a Marine living in the BEQ and i get told to turn down the music everyday by every duty NCO and thats what there there for. System H/K AVR 7200 2 JBL E100's 1 JBL EC35 and one set of JBL SC-135 speakers for the rest of the rear ch and the sub. Similar Products Used: none this is my first "real" system. but i'm liking the Harmon Int. line of products and havn't found a reason to step away from them yet. Maybe upgrade but i'm gona stick with Harmon products. |
