Strength:

Dang loud and a little too clear!!

Weakness:

Maybe a little bassy at times...maybe.

I just got these...They are damn loud and they like it that way. Living in a dorm, i'm pretty sure my neighbors are going to hate me, but who needs to be social.

I think they might be a little too bassy, not that I can't hear the highs, I just can't stand too close to the speaker when I'm playing them loud. Being a dj, I thought I was used to it being this loud. Maybe a little much clarity now though. I can hear the fuzz on some of my mp3's now. Whoa!!!

I'd recommend them to anyone who's looking for a damn high quality speaker for a low low price ($400 a pair at www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com) In fact, i was buying some cables at best buy today and recommended them to a total stranger.

I have em running on a H/K avr mk 2 and it's louder than I could ever really want them to be.

Strength:

Dual 10 subs produce tight bass, exellent mids, highs are very clear

Weakness:

Front panel came loose, the speaker covers fall off

I love the Bass!! I have Harmon Kardon Signuter seris amp(100 watt rms) that produce tight bass on these speakers. I heard bass notes I never heard before. The Dual gold 10 inchers look sweet. The mid is very powerful, it must way about 10 lbs.(took speaker apart). The highs are good, but there is a limited sweet spot. Hear fuzz-hiss from the highs at extreme volumes(when no music is playing). The other reviews that say the bass is not that great must not have a good amp or reciever unit. These speakers play loud with deep, tight bass. Music sounds 100% better compared to my poinners or KLH.

Strength:

Very clear highs, perhaps even to clear and good mid-range.

Weakness:

Bass is questionable.

I use it in a third floor dorm room and people on the first floor can hear it. However, the speakers must be used on a powerful receiver. I use a Sony STR-DE845 and it sounds excellent. I then tried it out on my friend's Kenwood VR-307 and the quality is questionable. The full volume on that receiver is not even half as loud as the Sony. The bass is also on the higher range, but I got that taken care of with my Infinity BU-120 powered sub-woofer. Very well rounded speakers!

I just bought a Yamaha RX-V995 receiver and these JBL's sounds a lot better than when I had my Sony STR-DE845. Even the bass is beginning to sound good!

Strength:

Great bass, good quality, price.

Weakness:

None.

I am using these speakers on the Sony STR-DE845, and the sound quality is just fantastic. I can't believe how good these speakers sound! The bass is great, as it should be with dual 10" bass drivers. These speakers are definately worth the investment. I truly do not dislike anything about these speakers.

Strength:

Awesome sound, looks great, and i get a hech of a good price.

Weakness:

These are the best loudspeakers i've ever bought. At best buy they were about 600 for a pair, but o foudn a greta place on the internet for only 400 (www.dynadirect.com) ...so i bought them. That was the best thing I've done. They look awesome, sound great, and can go really loud. I like them btter than JBL's Studio Series....since they ahve more bass and all...if your lookign for Floor Standing speakers and aren't looing for the high proice...these are for you. Don't beleive me? Go to your local best buy and check them out. Wih my JBL 12inch sub the combination is unbeatable.

Strength:

JBL always comes through with extreme clarity and precision in sound reproduction. Clean, deep bass. Nice highs for floor speakers, but sound incredible when supplemented with the n24s or n26s.

In a college dorm room, these speakers get their fair share at high volumes. I powered these two JBLs and 2 2-way 75 watt surrounds with a few year old Pioneer 400-series receiver (100x5) with no problem. If you want clarity and nice quality bass at a great price, I hightly recommend these speakers. Excellent value for the price. I paid $450 (shipped) for a new pair on Ebay. Get great prices on these from www.bcei.net

Strength:

LOUD as hell, look big if thats your thing..

Weakness:

sound like a PA speaker.
bass does not go deep
big... if thats not your thing

I was looking for speakers that play loud and clear, as JBL claim to do.... well...
Loud, certianly...
Clear.. debatable.
I was putting these speakers into my games room, which is about 30' * 45' and also has a loft about 1/2 the size.
I use a Plinnius SA 250 amp, so have no problem powering speakers well, and am using a Denon cd player as the source, along with a pair of 200 disc sony cd players.
These speakers were average, definatly not up to the standard of the old ( modified crossover ) JBL L7 speakers that I had in the room ( now in my home theater )
These speakers had NO problem filling the room well, being fed 250 watts of class A power per channel, but, they sounded too harsh and lean. The bass, theres LOTS of mid bass, but NO true deep bass. The highs sound like their coming out of a PA horn speaker. Mids are good, but not great.
I had the dealer out several times to try to tweak the system, before eventually having it returned, and opting for a set of Renkus Heinz speakers. We tried several sets of speakers, as apparently quality control is suspect on these speakers.
4 stars, as they are cheapish, and deliver TONNES of power,
2 stars overall though, as I would like to be able to listen to the music without thinking " god this sounds like crap!"

Strength:

Clear, loud, tight bass

Weakness:

Terrible construction. Front panel sepatated from sides on four separate speakers. Bass does not go low enough

I am happy with the sound of these speakers. they reproduce accurate clear bass and nice highs. After a couple hours of listening I noticed a vibration in one speaker. I found that the front panel was separating from the sides. Had the speaker replaced and it did it again. Finally I took out the woofers and liquid nailed the front to the sides using 1x2 boards. They sound 100% better now. No unusal harmonics and ended up doing it to the other speaker. The only other problem is on one grill all the tabs broke off. They sound awsome for the price so the aggrevation was worth it. System still needs the velodyne 12" sub for low bass. They are incredible for HT use.
