I am not an audiophile or whatever you people call yourself (like the fellow bellow). But I do enjoy a good speaker that I think sounds good. I have had my 310's now for a month and am very happy with them. To me they sound good. I feel as though the music is quite crisp and clear (once again, I am not an audiophile). Of course there are better speakers out there, but I am not willing to spend thousands to get the audiophile sound. For this price, I think that they sound great. Obvioulsy the sound is in the ear of the beholder (listener). They don't sound good to the guy below who reviewed them, but they do sound good to me. So all that I can they you readers is that I think they sound good and I am very happy with my purchase.

Strength:

Outstanding response..Great looking speakers..Why pay more?

Weakness:

NONE

I upgraded from a pair of floor standing speakers by SONY
to the JBL Studio Series S310 ** These speakers are far
better than the Sony Speakers. The bass response is
out of this world. These speakers are selling at Best Buys
and the Good Guys for $ 439.00/each ** I paid only
$ 195.00 each form onecall.com. You can spend more for
speakers but why ?? These speakers ROCK for all kinds
of music and my DVD 5.1 set up. I am hearing sounds from
my CD's I never heard before. These speakers are made
to last and weight 60 lbs. each. Hats off to JBL for
making a product that doesn't cost 1000+ dollars but
delivers the quality of speakers costing much more.

Put studio sound in your home for a down to earth
price and you can't go wrong !! BUY THEM NOW !!!

Strength:

Great Sound Quality. Even Buffs will be impressed by the quality of output

Weakness:

Slightly bulky - compared to other comparable speakers from Netfinify

I shortlisted JBL 310 after researching and listening to various brands out there and I can confidfidentally say that I made the right decision.

Great Sound output - Awesome clarity . With 200 Watts for each channel it will rock your basement. It is advisable to go with Optical wiring instead of the regular Coax. Bought it for $270 each . Any one who is considering good value for money - this is the best choice you can make for your front speakers. Bottom Line - this speaker "Rocks"!

okay, this is a review for the JBL S312, not 310. This site does not have a category for the 312, and wont respond to requests for why, or how to get a listing. Normally that would be it, but I like these speakers, and felt a review should be posted:
I bought the 312's over the 310's for hoping to get a bigger sound, and the price I found. I paid $519 for the pair, with about 60 shipping. They sound FANTASTIC!! I dont use a subwoofer, and quite frankly with the 12" woofers, dont need none. Bass is clean, and music just sounds so much clearer. The quality of JBL is immediately evident once you receive the product. Audiophiles may turn their nose up at JBL, but why?? Why spend thousands of dollars, for not much of a difference. I have listened to these systems, and yeah they sound great too(most of them), but honestly tried to hear a big difference, but just not there!
The JBL's are so clear and have such a prescence on all types of sound and HT. I have the JBL Studio center, and feel the same way.
Basically I think you get great quality, and the traditional approach to speaker drivers, large woofer, midrange, and tweeter, without the boomy, tinny sound, found in cheaper floor standers. My previous speakers were 20 year old, but high quality Infinity towers. They do sound good. However when I wired them up on the B speakers output, I a,b'd between the JBL and Infinitys. No comparsion, including general sound quality, bass, and prescence. I think you cant go wrong!
P.S. During this purchase research, I demo'd the Northridge 310 JBL's, and bought them. After I got them home, I really wasnt happy with the sound. Okay, but..... I returned them and bought the 312's. Again glad I did.

Good lows, not overly bright,construction...it's a brick Sh**ter!

Weakness:

Great product. Well built. A real masterpiece from JBL!

Good sound, not as bright as I had worried they'd be. Good lows, but then I decided to back them up with an AR subwoofer anyways.

Ooverall, it's a wonderful product, and I wouldn't think of spending more on PSB or Paradigm!

Nimble, beautiful sound, stylish..

I had intended to buy the JBL S37s to compliment my old Decades to fill my mid to high frequency ranges but instead ended up buying the floor model s310s for a ridiculous $475CDN. Terrified that my room was going to turn into nothing but a huge bass tube I was pleasantly surprised by the nimbleness and clarity of these speakers. Wonderful..

Strength:

good highs, decent bass, stylish look, can handle power

Weakness:

a tad bright, touchy with placement, not as much bass as i expected from such a big speaker

These are a good all-around speaker. They aren't awesome at any one thing, but are great if you listen to a wide range of music. They have decent bass, but i expected better from such a large speaker. They are a tad bright, but then again, so is every speaker JBL has ever made. I think that the upper midrange is slightly overexaggerated and the mid-bass is somewhat weak due to the small midrange speaker. They do like to be driven hard- I can turn my Marantz 8000 up literally all the way and they handle it just fine. They sound better when paired with a quality sub.
I have them in a small room and they seem kinda touchy with their placement. I do not have the space to move them around for better sound. I suspect they would sound better in a larger, well set up room. However i am happy with my investment and the studio series setup sounds good overall, so i'll give it 4 stars.

For those of you still looking, I would suggest looking into Wharfdale, especially thier Valdus series. They sound excellent and can be had for a good price on the net.

I bought these at Bestpriceaudiovideo.com for a good price- got the whole set for under $700. I could recommend BPAV to others.

Strength:

PRICE!! Clarity and appearance are worth mentioning too!

Weakness:

These speakers are almost 60 pounds each, but this shouldn't be a problem once they're in place.

I am by no means an audiophile, but I am a music lover. I know good sound and that's exactly what these speakers deliver. While I admit, they are just a little bit bright-sounding, that is not necessarily a bad thing since it can sometimes enhance clarity. Anyone complaining of a lack of bass needs to check their amp or receiver because these speakers have deep, clear bass when powered with a decent unit that matches their 200-watt capacity (I'm using a B&K Components ST1400 Series II). While its obvious that some of the audiophiles who post on here are slightly insane and blinded by the obscene amounts of money they've spent, these speakers used with quality components deliver downright AWESOME sound for the price - they can be found for well under $500.00 a pair on the web (check 123av.com or etronix.com for great prices and shipping deals). If you are a music lover like myself and feel stupid spending thousands of dollars on speakers, give these an audition. I don't use them for home theater, but I'll bet they would make PERFECT front speakers, since JBL outfits most most movie theater sound systems. Although their are much better speakers available, anyone with any kind of spending restraint would definitely be satisfied with these speakers.

Strength:

Great vocals! Good bass for 10 inch speakers.

Weakness:

On some song you may need to turn down the highs.

I would recommend these speaker to anyone with a room size of 150 to 500 square feet. As with most speakers you need a little volume to really hear them perform at their best. Currently I have them turned on their side in bookshelfs. Not the best location but they still sound good. I drive the speakers with a 300 watt RMS receiver. I,m sure I could blow them if I really showered down on the volume but my ears would probably go first. They have already been tested pass volume levels I care to listen at which is quite loud with no harm to the speakers. A subwoofer would help but is not necessary since the bass output is quite good for the speaker woofer size. These speakers fill my needs. If I got something different it would be a couple of JBL S38's and a JBL PB10 subwoofer. For the price and sound quality you can't beat the S310's. By the way they weight 57 pounds a piece which is about 10 pounds more than my JBL L26's
