good lows, fantastic high frequency detail

After listening to my new Ti1000, bought for about USD 500 a pair, I am amazed. Thinking the original price tag was USD 1200 shortly ago, these are now even more worth the money. The one thing that drove from thinking "These are good" to "These are fantastic!" was Biwiring them - together with my Acoustic Research A-07 Amp (yes, not a huge Amp but tremendous sound) they form a fantastic team for CD music, plus, used as front speakers in a Dolby Digital system (Center and Rear driven by a Harman Kardon, Front hooked to the AR via Harman Preouts) they give very good atmosphere for my medium sized room. A real recommendation, when you get them for the perfect price.

I bought them a year ago, when the price fell from DM 4500 (around 2700$) to a third of it. It is quite obvious that it is hard to find a comparable loudspeaker for this price.Anyway - let´s talk about the characteristics: First I was quite surprised about the low frequency-capabilties. I was impressed by the details it delivers and also by the lack of artificial "body" when you listen to male speakers.
On the other hand this speaker shows, why an (maybe) artificially "smoothed" sound makes Hifi-life easier.
Use the JBL TI1000 with a smooth, natural amplifier and listen to well recorded CDs, then you will love them.
Use marginally harsh sounding electronics or CDs, and you will hate them.
Listen to CDs with a slight bias to higher frequencies, then things seem to be just to small and far away.
In one word - they are merciless. Agood buy if you are willing to ust the adequate electronics, otherwise not....
