Strength:

efficient, low cost

Weakness:

the tweeter used is a pizeo tweeter that produces next to no sound, the treble heard is what is being pushed out of the midrange, crappy crossover, poor woofer excursion

i bought these because i was broke and wanted speakers. the only thing good about these speakers is the cabinet design. they are quite efficient. They are better for a low powered system. good speakers (for 100 bucks)

Strength:

Musical Balance. response, price, ease of placement

Weakness:

Cheap grills

Not to criticize the previous-review, however I have to wonder if Your speakers wern't wired out-of-phase, or if Your amp was not capable of driving them. I have had just the opposite-experience with My C-5's. Tight, startingly-deep bass..as evidenced when I play pipe-organ recordings...Very punchy-bass on rock-music as well. To My ears, the highs and mids seem quite-well balanced..especially for the price....Mine have "air" but in no-way screem at You like so many new speakers on the market. Yes, the crossover is "simple"..But to Me, a decent 1rst-order network is great..Less between You and the music. Bottom-line...After a year I still love these speakers..The best cheap speakers I have ever purchased. Yes, the grills could use some modification..too-easy to knock-off, and they dont stay-on that well, but sound-wise I am more than pleased. As for the "cheap" paper cone woofer...Plastic is often cheaper to use than treated paper, and often sounds un-natural to My and many other's ears..So I don't sweat the woofer material. Bottom-line, My pair at least were a great-buy...Many friends mouths have dropped after listening to them..then asking what I paid...as they comment about how-much They spent for no-better, or only "slightly-better sound.

Strength:

cheap.

Weakness:

no bass, too much treble, crappy crossover

These things are pretty bad. No bass to speak of, too much highs and even though they said they were 8 ohm, on the speaker was stamped 5 ohm, which gave my amp fits since it can't handle anything below 8 ohms. Way to go, people. You get what you pay for, and a 150 watt speaker for 50 bucks (they were twice that before..hm..)just isn't going to happen.
