Strength:
Good price for 12 inch 120 watt sub
Weakness:
Boomy;cheaply constructed This thing is a piece of junk. It sounds way to boomy no matter where I place it even with extra insulation. If you want a good sub for a good price get the JBL PB10 10 inch 150 watt sub. It has a bass reflex cabinet and a much better driver. I found it for $190 online at B&H Photo and Video. Strength:
Low price
Weakness:
It has a cheap cabinet and woofer and is way too boomy even when i put in more insulation. I agree with other reviewers it's a good sub for the low price but if you want some real bass you have to go with a better brand. No matter where I placed the thing it sounded way too boomy. The cabinet that it's in is the problem it's a wide open space with thin insulation and a cheap cone.If you want a good sub make shure you buy one with a bass reflex cabinet and a better cone. Similar Products Used: JBL PB10. Go with that I found it for $190 online at B&H Photo and Video. |

Strength:
Value...less than $130 at my local Sears.
Weakness:
Quality shielded cable ($40 for 25-foot) a must...I got hum otherwise. Despite the heading on this item, it is a 12", 120-watt subwoofer, as others have stated. |

Strength:
These bad boys pump out bass like nobody's buisness!!! Even with a 50 watt per channel system SC-AK17 you can get good bass w/out putting the volume up too much.
Weakness:
A little to "bassy" at some points. But who cares if bass is what you are looking for you've found it!!! I just got this subwoofer today and man was I blown away!!!! At first I couldn't get it working because I have a speaker selector thing and if I had speakers A(front) and B(sub) both on only B would work. So I had to look in the manual(those are actually a good thing sometimes.) This is a really really good subwoofer especially for the price. Go pick one up at ABC Warehouse the total comes out to $93.28 and I feel that, that is an exceptional deal!!!! |

Strength:
Value (I paid 88$ at ABC Warehouse for a 12" sub with a 120 watt amp), sound quality
Weakness:
Can be a little boomy at some times, must be placed in a corner accprding to instructions I got this sub at ABC Warehouse. It is a 12 incher with a 120 watt amp and I only paid 88 dollars. I have it hooked up to a 200 watt shelf system and it sounds great. Similar Products Used: first sub ever |

Strength:
Cheap-price, powerful (120 watts), inverted dust cap on driver, single line (LFE) input (no need for Y-adapter from receiver for L and R like other subs), small-size, attractive, downfiring so no grill and driver won't get dusty, solid volume and crossover knobs, phase inverter switch, auto-on/off, no hum at idle, rubber feet so won't slide or vibrate around (great for wood floors)
Weakness:
Lack of insulation, thin construction, poor Jensen reputation. Excellent bargain for $95 at local store (HHGreggs, like Circuit City). It was $150 normally but on clearance. Even at full price of $150 this is a good deal. Your closest value would be a Sony 12"/120 watts or AR 12"/120 watts for $200 on line or at Sears or Bestbuy. Initially this sounds boomy so I opened it up (6 screws on driver) and it had thin 0.5" polyfill liner and nothing else. So I stuffed it with fiberglass from attic for another 1" of insulation all around and a volleyball-sized wad of polyfill (Walmart 20 oz for $2.30) in middle. Let me tell you this subs now thumps with my other subs. It beats the KLH 10"/120 watts and the Audiosource 15"/200 watts hands down. It's no match for the 500 watts (Sunfire amp), 15" MS500 which I switch out the driver for a MTX 15" car sub (3000 series) but then again the amp is much more powerful and the MTX driver is much better on the MS500. Still I feel this is a good value for under $200 class. It is loud, wall-rattling, and chest-thumping. It sounded great with music very rapid and crisp responses and rumble well with movies. DTS Saving Private Ryan sounded great. Of course when I tested this sub, I turned off all my other subs. With all the subs on it's quite an experience. Half-way volume and crossover at 100 Hz, sounded very, very good and loud. No distortion at max volume and 100-110 db SPL (plenty loud for HT)--1 foot away from sub at max volume and max crossover. If you can find it for under $200 go for it. I wouldn't compare it to the over $200 models but then again you get what you pay for. Strength:
Cheap and effective way to make up for small insufficient main spkrs, low price point
Weakness:
imprecise and boomy at times A real bargain that really enhances movie viewing if not everything audio. Well worth the money IMHO. After reading the below review I'm gathering up the nerve to modify it though I'm pretty well satisfied now. Similar Products Used: Sony |

Incredible Price. Great sound for the money.
Weakness:
Paper cone speaker. Possible Jensen depndability issues. Poor low volume quality. Ok let me start by saying that this doesn't sound as clean as my 12" powered velodyne but it cost only 1/5th of the price. Believe it or not this sub actually handles a little better at higher volumes than the Velodyne. And no matter what anyone says about subwwofers, placement is everything. A three corner placement on the Jensen is a necessity in my living room whereas the Velodyne sounds better against a single wall. I like the down firing position of the Jesen. It puts a little more effect into the movies by letting you feel the rumble. Will this replace the Velodyne? Absolutly not!! Will it be around as long? Probably because it seems Velodyne has issues with reliability as well. All in all I will have to say that of all of the powered subs that I have had the pleasure to listen to this on wins the Best Bang for your Buck award hands down. Nothing comes close to the sound for the price trade off. Find one for $150 or less and get it asap. You won't reget it. Similar Products Used: Velodyne Powered Subwoofer. |

Amplifier Power I got an awesome deal on this sub at Ubid and couldn't pass it up. Before turning it on I opened it and added extra insulation to the inside with quilt batting. I then turned it on and was pretty satisfied with the sound except it was a little boomy. I won another auction on ubid for an Orion CS12D sub and replaced the original Jensen driver with the Orion. The bass is now even tighter. If you can find this at a cheap price like I did and replace the driver then I recommend it. Value rating gets a 5 because of the price I paid. Overall rating gets a 3 cuz if you pay full price and then modify it to get better sound you're probably spending too much. Similar Products Used: BIC RTR 80 watt 6 X 9 Subwoofer |
