Strength:

Great bass, the tweeters, woofer and subwoofer all in one tower is really great for the average listener who doesnt care so much about top notch quality-why would a picky audiophile buy cheap $200 speakers in the first place?

Weakness:

The sub, woof, and tweet are all in one tower, so you cant place them in different places to get a superb sound...the bass is great except when the volume is really cranked high (when more than 70 watts are flowing to the speakers)- then it gets a little disorted. But in a 5 channel home theater package you should be satisfied with the volume after the dial is at 50% (50 watts on a 100perchannel)

I bought a pair of these speakers because I blew my dad's 50 watt Pioneers on my 100 watt/channel reciever. I was careful not to turn the volume too high but obviously not careful enough. At Rex I compared the JVCs with about 10 other towers. Compared to KLH and Vega, these beat them by far. Next to a nice pair of Sonys...they were both almost equal in quality- except the bass.

Strength:

Great sound, especially for 2 6 1/2's, don't distort at high volumes

Weakness:

None

My brother originally paid $200 for the pair about a year and a half ago at Rex. I then got them for $100 from him. Honestly I would pay the $200 still. Rex still has them. They sound great. Deep bass for usual listening with movies or music, and crisp highs. I think they'd be great as regular stereo speakers too, as I have surround sound set up now. Go listen to them, Rex will bargain with you.

Strength:

Great sound at affordable price. Good bass, good highs. Nice looking.

Weakness:

Didn't notice any.

I didn't actually buy these speakers. I liked a pair of KLH 283A's better, but only a little bit, and they were the exact same price. KLH doesn't get a lot of respect from the audiophiles, but don't let that bother you. They are great, satisfying speakers for a fair price. As are these JVC's.

In fact, I almost decided top buy these, but the KLH had a bit warmer, smoother sound. On the JVC, the bass is good at moderate volume levels. They can handle decent power too, at 120 watts. My receiver is 110 watts in stereo mode, so it would be a nice fit. Mids and highs are clear

At my local Rex store, they were priced at $99 each. I think that is fair. They give good sound. I am not an audiophile, and don't care about that. I'm not an idiot either. And to me, anyone who would spend as much money on a pair of speakers as I did on my truck is a little wierd. These speakers will perform nicely for you. They will satisfy your needs and wants. With their good looks and good sound, they are probably worth a little more.

Get them. I would have, if I had not gone back and forth between these and the KLH several times. I listened to some Sony towers, Jensen, and Cerwin-Vegas. It beats those to pieces. I am a Vega fan, and there is a Sony factory accross the road from my workplace; but I still say the JVC sound much better.
