Strength:
trancient and dynamic response, transparent highs and mids, deep crawling bass!!!
Weakness:
none... This is a review not for the 105/2 but for the legendary kef 105. These speakers are great. Details are amazingly accurate and the trancient and the dynamic response will blow you away! Another thing I love about these speakers is the bass. There is nothing like it. Deep, precise and profound bass! These speakers can go down to 20hz easily with even having to install a Kube EQ! Strength:
Good solid perspektive. Resonble second-hand price. Easy to improve by tweek's.
Weakness:
Low sensibility. Do not like organ, and other instruments of that kind. Well this old speaker, produced for the first time, 20 years ago, in 1979, has a lot going for it. Hovever, if you want the full potential of it, you have to do a lot of modifying. Away with the metal on front of the midrange and tweeter. New cable inside, and the resistors and capasitators must be replaced with new ones. Most important the capasitators. KEF's fear in those days for DC coming out of the amplifier, destroying the speaker is most overrated, and the 4 120uF capasitators protecting the woofer, can be by-passed easy and safe, with today's amplifiers. Strength:
Bass, mid, treb
Weakness:
Ultra hi freq, maybe ... I assume KEF 105.2 means KEF Reference 105 Series 2. In which case the most strike impression I have (after over 6 years use) is that they flap your trousers at ANY volume. Even in quiet listening they move air. Mids are present in correct degree and crisp, and treb is fine , but maybe lacking for dogs and bats. Imaging v.stable. Similar Products Used: KEF 105.4 |
