I have had 6 of these things for many years, and they do not dissapoint. They have extreme volume output due to their 98db sensitivity. They also have good low range for a speaker of this design, and the horn tweeters can scream as well as anything. The only drawback is they are heavy, and unless you can buy them locally, it costs about $150 to have them shipped. |

I received my set of Kenwood KL-888D's from a friend for free. I have four of them that I found in his basement, his dad didn't use them and told me to take them. They are in excellent condition and sound brilliant. Nice and rich these speakers stand up to anything I threw at them with no distortion at high volumes and boy do I put them through some volumes too. At first I had them hooked up to a Quadrophonic Sansui AU-D5 but that amp went bye bye and I miss that thing so much. However I picked up for $100 a Pioneer SX-3700 which has filled my need for an excellent Quad stereo once again! I am in love with these speakers again. Playing old Rock & Roll, 80's hair metal, 90's industrial, 70's Hard Rock, and all the other good stuff out there never sounded so good in my life. The only person who rivals me that I know of out of my friends is a rich friend who owns a theater in his home with a set of infinities that are driven by a stack of tube amps hooked up to solar panels to not drive up their electric bills (and the room is soundproofed).

Well, for the past year and a half I have been putting together a system on a budget (my 10th system since 1993) and have been looking for that over the top sound that I got from my Decware Zen Taboo 9 watt single ended pentode amp and Klipsch Heresy II speakers. Been hitting every thrift store in the Panhandle of Florida and have come away with the following speakers: Pioneer CS-703 (excellent), Pioneer CS-99a (Good but light bass), ADS L9e (too dark), Sansui SP-1500 (excellent but light on the bass). Up until now have had good sound from most of these speakers but still no majic.
