You''re an idiot. If you believe that every horn loudspeaker adds colouration and consider the Klipsch name alone enough to be a weakness, why did you buy them in the first place?

Strength:

High efficiency, nice midrange and high ends

Weakness:

Lacking deep bass, possibly due to lack of power at higher listening levels

I bought my K's for $1100 on closeout, the rep said that the mass public didn't like the size, nor the brightness, or harshness that they offered. I couldn't have disagreed with them more, I find them to be open and accurate. Since I've owned them and purchased a 600 Watt Cinepro amp, I've learned to reevaluate how Rock music was mastered. My system now reproduces music so clean that I can find faults in the mastering processes. While the CF-4's donnot offer
the warmth of the Original Klipschhorns, they sound good at all sound levels, at half the cost and take up a lot less space. When listening to Movie soundtracks, I haven't yet found a sub that can augment the K's sufficiently to give the reason to augment the speakers. When I've tried subs,
they seemed slow and muddy, relative to the K's. I'm still
working on it!!!!!!!!!

I use Heresy II's for surround. I've run the gamut in entry to mid-level priced speakers.

Strength:

good finnish. looks good

Weakness:

its a Klipsch

Two 12" woofers and 9x13" horn between them. Wont play low bass. ALL HORN SPEAKERS HAVE A COLORED SOUND, ALL. This one too. Great dynamics. My Snell XA75 will play louder but cost $4,500. I sold them shortly after getting them for $800. Anyone that thinks Klipsch makes great speakers just lacks audio experence. I would give them a single star becauce they are a gimick speaker but I wont. The design requires the woofer to play to far into the midrange and handle the bass too. Not a good way to do it. Tannoy gets away with it thought.

I just LOVE my Klipsch Epic CF-4's. I use them as fronts and Stereo spkrs.I am not an audiophile (working on it) but I have listened to many other speakers at stores including recently the B&W Nautilus 802's.
I really like the clean crisp highs produced by the horns in the Klipsch. I do supplement them with a really kick butt sub-woofer (Velodyne FSR18) but they hold their own without it. (Two 12" woofers and a horn in each).

Strength:

Very life like pace and "urgency". Very efficient. Open and airy.

Weakness:

Very revealing. Expose the weaknesses of other components.

I actually have some CF3's. However, I could not figure out how to add a product that was not already listed.

I find these speakers to be very life like for rock and Jazz. I also think they sound great with female vocalists such as Diana Krall, Patricia Barber, Holly Cole and Joni Mitchel.

However, their character changes dramatically with the other components used. I initially ran the CF3's off of an old Yamaha R9. The R9 is a capable receiver. It is probably best with "sweeter" sounding speakers than the CF3's though. The CF3's really came into their own when I switched to a McIntosh integrated amp. The harshness in the upper mid-range audible while using the R9 disappeared. With the McIntosh, and a Rotel CD player, the speakers are everything I like in an audio system. At least in this price range. Unfortunately, $$$ are always a consideration for me. I'm sure there are $20,000 and up systems out there that I would prefer to the above combination. However, I have never heard anything in this price that is even close. In fact I've used systems considerably more expensive than this one that don't sound nearly as alive and compelling.

With the correct components, I would highly,HIGHLY recommend the CF3's over anything else in the price range that I have heard or used. The B&W's I have heard sounded "dead" by comparison. But...make sure you use them with sweet and smooth sounding components!! Otherwise you may be disappointed.
