Strength:
Great mid and high response.
Weakness:
Bass response is not good for large rooms. Great for small apartments. Bought these at Listen Up in Denver '78. Lived in a small apartment at the time and they had the best imaging I had ever heard. Once I moved into a larger home I found that the bass did not extend much farther than 50 Hz. Found a pair of Cornwalls at a flea market for 500. Could not have found a better bargain even today. Now the Heresy's are relegated to my surround channels at 8' up on the side walls. The sound I now get is better than our local mega plex. At least I can control the volume better. Added a Heresy for the center channel. Finally got rid of the early Sony surround reciever. Bought another Sony with DD and DTS. Maybe I will get a Sub, but until the price of the new Klipsch sub's come down, I will just have to wait. Similar Products Used: Klipsch Cornwalls |

Strength:
Great Bass!! A lot of power for a 12 sub.
Weakness:
Highs could be a little better. These speakers are great!! Make killer front speakers for a 5.1 system. Dont even need a sub. Never have too worry about blowing them. Similar Products Used: Jbl century 100, H.H Scott S197, Advent Clasic Loudpeader |

Strength:
I have owned my Heresy speakers for almost twenty years, and they are still one of the finest speaker systems I have ever owned. They are extremely efficient, not overbearing in size, and produce a sound that will more than fill any room you care to put them in. Their sound--particularly in the mid-range--is stunning. The Heresy sound is more like a live concert sound than any other speaker I know.
Weakness:
None, if you like the sound of a horn-loaded speaker. One of the classic speakers of our time. The Klipsch Heresy is almost in a class by itself with its ability to reproduce a concert type sound with both finesse and gusto. If you like the coloration of a horn-loaded speaker typical of a live concert event, you will find no better speaker system than the Klipsch Heresy. Similar Products Used: Many speaker systems by many manufacturers. |

Well here is my review of my second pair of speakers that were my father's but now are mine, I am 18. Here is how my system started - 1 year ago. It consisted of a Sony Discman going through a $100 Pyramid mixer into a mid-70's Pioneer integrated amp and a pair of Kenwood speakers. I know - disgusting...I'm ashamed to look back. A friend got me interested in high-end audio (I've always loved music.) We were at a local high-end shop in Toronto looking at some cool gear when a salesman asked if we wanted to listen, we did and of course were impressed. He asked what we had, my fried told him about a pair of old 770 Missions to which he shrugged off, then I told him about the pair of Heresy's I had in my living room being used as end tables. He - bluntly put - freaked! He said they are great speakers, so I went home and lugged them downstairs into my room, hooked them up to my shitty equipment and was impressed, but not too much. Bla-bla-bla time went on - right now I'm sitting listening to them, with alittle different equipment - a Marantz CD-63mk.II with a Musical Fidelity X10-D, the same old Pioneer amp (built like a tank and not all that bad) and my main listening source - a Rega Planar 3 with an Elys cartridge. Musical? damn right. Detailed? good enough for me. Can they rock? Yes. (to put it politely!) I love them, but with all this equipment they still sounded plain to me. I thought what gives. Then a buddy said try to change the stock interconnects with some Ok stuff to see what happens. Now I'm sitting amidst $500 worth of Audioquest cables and finally - it is truly high end detailed, coherent, all those other audiophile adjectives, it sounds amazing. One fault I noticed about the speakers, the horn tweeter and mid are much faster and better resolving then the 12 inch woofer, the bass is lacking in speed and definition. The bottom line here is that I love them and they definately kick ass!!!! |
