Strength:

Great design. Excellent sound. Superb value.

Weakness:

None that I can see or hear.

A remarkable speaker for the money. These speakers can handle any load. At low volumes they are the smoothest sounding speaker I have ever heard. I highly recommend them them if you can afford them, there are probably some good deals on used ones out there. Don''t hesitate. The horns may take a little getting used to, but once you do, you''ll not want anything else.

Strength:

Great value, good soundstage for music, and did I mention a great value.

Weakness:

little sharp on the highs

These speakers are efficient and do great with my old HK II receiver. Until I get a receiver that can really put these to work, I can''t write a complete review. I like the nice soundstage for music, but with home theater, the sound is a little to sharp on the highs. The center channel c-7 provides the perfect compliment to balance the home theater.

Strength:

Bass, dynamics, realism, clarity, build quality, value.

Weakness:

None.

My first experience with Klipsch speakers was about 18 years ago. I purchased a pair of Heresy''s and later upgraded to a pair of Forte''s. In my never ending search for better sound, I sold my Forte''s and purchased a pair of Digital Phase AP2''s. I then purchased some Definitive BP2002''s. After owning these awhile I realised that something was missing, though I didn''t want to admit it, music was good, the bass great, but getting into home theater the actual sounds of doors closing, phones ringing, explosions, etc., just didn''t have the realism and dynamics that I knew I was missing for so long. I decided to check out some KLF20''s and 30''s at American Electronics. My first impression was too much midrange and lack of bass. I probably could have adjusted to this but they just didn''t seem as balanced as the Definitives I had. The salesman asked me if I had heard the KLF 10''s. I said no. I didn''t even know they made the 10''s. To make a long story short, I knew these were the ones for me. Great bass, dynamics, and balanced sound. It''s good to be back in the Klipsch family again. I never should have left it.

Strength:

Clean, articulate, smooth. If you are already half def, then these are the speaker for you.

Weakness:

TOO bright, base lacks at times due to overwhelming highs.

I''m sorry, but someone has to knock these speakers off their high horse. I went to my local audio shop and listened to all the Klipshe speaker they carry. MOST Klipshe highs are too bright for my taste. Even the ones that are broken in. They lack in neutrelity that the most demanding audio purist demand. They hurt to listen to, which I guess some people like. From an audio purist standpoint, these are a high end Cerwin Vega. However, to do possess some good qualities. They image very well and they also have excellant build quality. They possess a nice neat, well built finish. The high tend to be bright, but on some more laid back listening material, they can be nice and smooth. The base respone is very quick and tight, although the highs can overwhelm the base at times. All Kilishe speakers are fantastically efficient. The mids at times seem to sound nasely, the is a downfall of a horn. Some Klipshe speaker with smaller horns are actually pretty nice, but the larger horn models are just big party speakers with clear loud highs. I don''t blame the engineering or design of these speakers for and lack of sound quality, because sound quality is based on personal preference. These speaker are not what I like for sound nor are they what I consider to be a good sound quality speaker. A true audio purist will probaby look the other way when audiotioning Klipshe speakers.

Strength:

Bass, Treble

These are discontinued, but I think they sound better than the newer models like the RF-3. The highs are much cleaner, as well as the midrange. The RF-3s put out more midrange, but not quality wise. Also, the two 10" drivers give you bass to spare. These speakers might be a bit bright sounding, but I prefer the extra clarity that it brings. Since these are discontinued, you can pick up a pair cheap if your local dealer can find them. Don't be afraid to haggle on the price. Overall, a great buy.

Strength:

DEEP BASS. HORN

Weakness:

Could use a tad more midrange

Excellent Speaker for the money. Would put ot up against most in it's price range. The Basss is deep and full. The Horn hits the high like only a horn can. The Midrange is somewhat lacking as it is in most speakers in the price range. If you run accross the KLF 10 for under $700.00 buy it! It a very solid speaker!

Strength:

Smooth, balanced sound, great highs, mids and lows, the medium oak cabinets look great with my oak furniture

Weakness:

none that I've noticed so far with music, I don't do home theater

I was able to do an " a/b" comparison with alot of the speakers I have listed. The KLF-10's were the clear winner in terms of overall balanced sound, I.M.H.O. They are effortless in their musical presentation. Some of the other speakers sounded strained and not as open as the 10's. I contribute some of this to three way designs as opposed to two way. More electronics, wire, and crossovers to go through which can affect the music. There's an old Scottish saying " the more you overtake the plummin, the easier it is to stop up the drain." I have played music most of my life and have heard alot of speakers, monitors, house mains ect. and I fell the KLF-10's come about as close to a live feel than any other home speaker I've listened to. Pity Klipsch is dropping the legend series because I feel they are some of the best home speakers at any price. Try to fing some and give them a listen with music you are familiar with, I feel you will be impressed!

I wanted to clarify my previous price quote on these speakers. They are priced at $299 per speaker . Costco has a policy of pricing their tower speakers (such as the KLF 10's) individually and the rest of their speakers as pairs.

Strength:

Crisp & clear - perfect for home theater

Weakness:

A bit harsh (lacks midrange) when played at insane volume levels

I purchased two pairs of these speakers back in April. The Legend line of products were being discontinued (big mistake in my opinion) and I managed grap these gems for slightly more than a buck a pound. I really wanted a pair of KLF-20s, but they were long gone...and the 30s were more than I wanted.

I primarily use these speakers for home theater with my Yamaha RX-V2095. Plus, they are excellent speakers in 2 channel as well - music is crisp and comes to life. I love them. Ok, they do tend to be a little harsh when listening to them at full volume, but they work flawlessly the 99% of them time I'm watching DVDs and/or just relaxing with my favorite CDs at reasonable volume levels. They are the perfect speakers for ME! My system is as follows:

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V2095
Main A: Klipsch KLF-10
Main B: Klipsch KLF-10
Center Channel: Klipsch KLF-C7
Front Effect: JBL HLS-610
Rear Surround: Klipsch KSP-S6
Subwoofer: Klipsch KSW-12

2nd Amp (when required)

Yamaha M-70 (1982 model - still cranks!)
Main A: Bose 701
Main B: Bose 301 (yep, I started with Bose and then learned)

Strength:

Good bass, natural midrange, good dynamics

Weakness:

doesn't like poor amplification

A good natural sounding speaker that demands that you use a good amplifier. I use the KLF10 with an Anthem Integrated 1 with phono stage. The CD player is a Denon DCD1015. This combination has proved to be smooth sounding and dynamic when required. Prior to selecting tube amplifier, I tried several solid state products. Neither were satisfactory and tended to emphasis the horns tendancy to agressiveness when playing some CD's. I am a fan and current owner of a pair of BBC LS3/5A's. I assure any prospective buyers that the KLF10 features a midrange that is not shamed by the LS3/5A. Some owners of other KLF10's have suggested that the midrange is a little recessed. This is not so. The midrange is natural and unforced. Unlike some other horn speakers (and some KLF series) the KLF10 two way horn setup offers a sound that avoids longterm listener fatigue. Other attributes of the Legend (and KG series) are well known - an extended bass, high efficiency and great dynamics round off a speaker that beats most competitors hands down.
