Strength:

Very, Very efficient- Great Bass- Bi-wire and Bi-Amp capabilities

Weakness:

Can be bright if you don't use the right equipment

If you like LOUD VOLUME, these speakers can't be beat. If you don't mind Brightness, you may use solid state. I have heard other reviews that these speakers won't take 200 watts rms, but I strongly disagree. I put 235 watts per side rms to them for 2 years, before I finally upgraded my amp. I never bottemed them out, and I used to crank them LOUD for hours on end, and it didn't hurt them a bit. If you want AUDIOPHILE sound from these speakers, you must go to a TUBE AMP. Once you do, these speakers come to life. Voices come alive, everything else becomes laid back. Pinpoint imaging, HUGE SOUNDSTAGE, and still great bass. ALL of the harshness and brightness is gone immediatly. It totally transforms this speaker. Overall, I love these speakers. They seem bullet proof as well.

Strength:

Great, clear sound

Weakness:

construction

Sound wise, I am very pleased with these KLF20's. However, I have run into a problem. Upon bringing them home, one was rattling -- and it appeared the back was loose. I returned it for another. Now the other one from the original purchase is doing the same thing (serial numbers were within 3 of each other). What I wonder, is this a chronic problem with the Klipsch? I have a Yamaha 995, and have yet to "really" crank it. Also, right now I've "blended" the system with my 1 year old Infinity CC-3, and my Infinity RS-5's for surround, and so far don't think they sound bad in unison -- however, I have been advised its not a good idea -- any thoughts?

Strength:

Great accuracy, good dispersion, good efficiency, useful cabinet size

Weakness:

A bit too bright on upper mid, too heavy.

Excellent speaker overall, very accurate but a bit too bright that some people find annoying. Dispersion a bit too wide for smaller rooms, will loose some of the imaging effects.
Good tight bass given cabinet size and drivers.
Replaced my Cornwalls with these and very happy, accuracy seems better. However, requires a sub to match lower end of Cornwalls.

Strength:

balanced clarity thoughout listening range

Weakness:

not shielded and possibly size

I compared the KLF20 to the KLF10 and the RF-3. The KLF20 felt open and smooth from the bass through the midrange to the highs. The KLF10 and the RF-3 sounded good also but lacked some in the midrange, with the RF-3 having a little more bass punch having a separately powered woofer.

For Dave from Olathe, Kansas, I saw in your review that you had an RC-3 with your KLF20. How is that working out?

Strength:

Extremely efficient.

Weakness:

Very heavy/bulky. Hard to position with the 'spike' feet.

As my parents are big klipsh fans (Forte IIs), I was drawn to klipsh when it came to be my time to invest in a higher end stereo system.
I have found the KLF20s to be very impressive for soundstage and imaging. The accurace from the horn loaded system reproduces orchestra pieces with a clarity that rivals the real thing (I have played violin for several years). I highly recommend that you choose a component system that will correctly drive the speakers as they will 'enhance' any flaws in your amp/tunner/cd!

KLF C-5 (Center. Liked C7, but was to big)

Strength:

value, efficiency, and clarity in sound

Weakness:

can't handle claimed maximum power rating; tad bright

well i happily owned these things for over three years. i bought them for $1300 at a retail store. not too bad of a deal back then. these were my first full range "quality" speakers.

i will be brief. we all know these speakers sound excellent for $1,000 (going price these days).

but do you know how good these speaker really are?!

i recently got a new job and decided to upgrade my stereo system. i went nuts upgrading my interconnects and wires.

Audioquest diamond & opal interconnects AND a double run of Audioquest cyrtals and midnights for the speakers.
holy heck!

the wiring is superb and i'll write a review shortly enough, but these damn speakers sound a $1,000 better. the klf-20s truly are CLEAN and the bass is SOLID and sound effortless and full. (however you will need a sub for 30hz and below). vocals are stunning, in fact i postponed my speaker upgrade in lue of a C.D. and AMP. i'll buy my audio legacy classics at some point in my life (and i move to a larger room), but until then the klipsch will do the job nicley.

two quick negatives:

1) cannot handle 200 watts RMS or peak at 800 watts peak. NO WAY. i "bottomed" the woofers accidently about a dozen times in three years with a B&K 105 w/channel AMP. even on Paul Simon! believe me, i was not trying too.

2) over bright for me. i added room dampening material and with the AQ diamonds they are better. but those horns (which i love) don't give up. and my room 11 x 14 is way too small. but i still suspect they're a tad over bright.

Strength:

Bass reproduction and clarity

Weakness:

haven't found any yet

I can't say very much more than what's been said already...Perfect!!! I mean I love these speakers! I've heard so many speakers, but it's almost impossible to find speakers that sound this good at this price. Don't just take my word read October "Sound and Vision". They came out on top again! I actually only paid $536.00 for the pair (brand new!-long story) so I'm even more happy with these. These coupled with the other Klipsch supporting cast (C-5,1.1's,S-1's, KSW12-sub-nice!) make a really nice set-up. All powered by a Yamaha DSP-A1. Yes!! I'm a happy man. I'm looking for some S-5's...anyone know of a good sight with a good price.

Strength:

Clean, clear sound throughout entire range

Weakness:

None in this price range

I like the clarity and power of horns. The KLF-20 also has rich, clear bass with deep extention. With regard to "brightness", try Analysis Plus Oval-12 speaker cables. They produce a warm mid range, clear extended highs, and a deep, fast bass that my Monster 2.2 cannot compete with. I enjoy classical and jazz. I have not heard any speakers under 6000.00/pr that sound as realistic for voice or instrament reproduction as the KLF-20. They are fed by a Yamaha RX-V2095 using a .5 meter Analysis Plus Copper Oval interconnect between pre-out and main-in in place of the solid wire jumper.

Strength:

Amazing clarity and volume. Outstanding imagining.

Weakness:

Require exact placement for accurate imaging (though once aligned, imaging is amazing)

These speakers boast a very high efficiency rating, allowing them to play very loud without much amplifier power. However, it is important to use a quality receiver or amplifier, for the only conceivable way to blow these speakers will be underpowering them. The speakers will not distort, as others may have mentioned, they will simply convey the distortion from overworked amplifiers and cheap cables. The horns are somewhat bright, but their clarity and accuracy prevents them from ever sounding "painful" or distorted. The bass output is amazing, however it cuts sharply at around 32Hz, making a very powerful subwoofer necessary to provide ultra-low bass.
