Strength:
rock solid low end, crisp, clean mid and highs. handle power well. you cant go wrong with 2 12's a channel.
Weakness:
The cabinet could be a little more solid. I was fortunate to get to listen to a pair of these at my girlfriend's parent's house. Her dad had them running off of all NAD gear (preamp, THX stereo amp, and CD player) I still drool thinking about how crisp and tight everything sounded. The bass was perfectly amazing, very tight, but not too lean. I listened to many different styles of music, and they handled everything with ease. If you can handle large, heavy speakers, get a pair. They are extremely detailed and articulate, as well as being thunderously loud if called upon. For the price, they are amazing. Similar Products Used: paradigm (almost everything) |

None as long as you dont move them I bought these speakers used from a private sale in Toronto. When I went for the audition, I though they were good but hey did not blow me away. I was looking to replace my JBL L100T’s and I did not want to give up the warmth and dynamic rage of those beasts. So when I went for the audition, they were hooked up to an average amp and CD player with less than average speaker wire in a very large room. I knew that I was only there to ensure they were in good shape and in good working order because I needed them to be hooked up to my equipment. When I finally had them delivered and hooked them up to my Macintosh Preamp (C35) and Macintosh Amp (MC 754) with Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon playing through my HK 7525 CD player, I was truly blown away even before I had put the spikes on the bottom of the speakers and positioned them. The bass was unbelievable, mids were perfect, and the highs smooth. They blew away my JBL’s….not even close! Not that I have had time to position them and have listened to them for a while with all kids of music, I cannot find a flaw…I keep looking. I think my CD player is showing its limits since it is now not up to par with the rest of my audio equipment. The other reviews which talk about “not enough bass” is truly missing out the beauty of these speakers since they do not have a good amp/preamp hardware. My suggestion would be to upgrade and sit back and listen. Similar Products Used: JBL L100T |

Strength:
Full spectrum sound. Able to produce subtle nuances without strain.
Weakness:
Critical Placement. Requires a good distance from the rear to the wall. Having been a KLIPSCH owner for many years, the very best I had were the K-horns (wish I had them back), but to "down size, I bought a set of KLF-30's. As another reviewer wrote, placement is very critical. Since the rest of my surround sound speakers are of the "Reference" series, I ordered a pair of RF-7s to replace the KLF's. A huge disappointment. The RF-7s lack the detail and soundstage of the KLF-30's.(Two-way system vs. a three-way - something Paul Klipsch always believed in). They also require a tad more power to produce the same decibles as their predecessors. And, the louder you drive them, the more "choked" they sound. It just isn't there. In my opinion, the KLIPSCH boys missed the boat on these, and I'm glad I kept my KLF's, and returned the RF-7's for credit (got lucky there). Strength:
Fairly nuetral with even response and of course because of its high efficency low distortion and easy to drive with most amps inegrateds and receivers.
Weakness:
I found it fussy to position but maybe thats because of my room. After living with the klf 30's for over a year now I now feel able to give a more accurate reveiw. also I have read and re- read the some 75 reveiws posted hear.It was after reading all of te reveiws that I decided to go ahead and buy a pair from J&R Music World. The decision to buy wasn't based solely on the reveiws. My first Klipsch speaker was the Quartet a very good design i'm sorry I sold them.I found the Quartets to be very nuetral with excellent bass. "passive radiator" The KLF 30's have duel ports on the back down at the bottom.I found the bass to be a little lacking until I treated the room for flat response. chek out decware.com room treatment. Also the positioning of these speakers is very critical.I have spent over a year trying to find the ideal position. Even in a treated room the positioning is critical but once acheived you will be rewarded with a large sound stage and good bass response that is articulate but not overwhelming.that is a good thing because you don't want the bass to overpower the rest of the music.I beleive the KLF 30's are a fairly nuetral speaker with an over all flat frequency response. And because of the high efficiency you also have very low distortion. this high efficiency I think contributes to the KLF 30's smooth open sound.I found in my room the best distance from back wall to the inside corners of the speakers is 32 inches toed in toward the listener with the inside of the speaker aimed just n back of the head of the listener.I beleive my room presented a bigger challenge than say your room or some one elses room. Because my kitchen is part of my living room the speakers can not be centered in the room and in back of the right speaker instead of a corner I have a hallway. the other speaker is by a little alcove that leads to another room. despite the odd room I have with the help of a lot of room treatment and a lot of experimenting managed to get good response.also I have tile floors.A good speaker but very fussy when it comes to positioning . when you think you have finally found the perfect position bolt or glue the suckers to the floor. Strength:
Clarity,efficieny, and price.
Weakness:
Like any other higher end audio equipment. They need equal quality componets to reach there true potential. Let me first say that I do not own a pair of KLF 30's. I have listened to and done a few tests on my cousins. He has a Yamaha 100 watt receiver powering these units. He, like many other reviewers love the clarity and the decibal levels that are produced. The only wish is for more bass. I myself like the tight and accurate bass of the 30's. I agree that they are not the deepest sounding speakers. It's more noticeble when they are next my Chorus II's during equipment testing. The best recomendation I can suggest is to use more power! When we hooked the 30's to my Carver A-500x (250 watts)for the first time, his jaw hit the floor. He could not belive the deep authoritative bass. We also tested the amp in bridged-mono at 800 watts. There was not much of a difference in the sound except they played a little louder if you wanted. Don't be scared to use a big amp. These speakers can take it. In fact most speaker damage is caused from smaller amps than big ones. They are a great speaker. If you can try a more powerful amp. You will not be sorry. Take all you got & more...Rock to Bach to Enya!
Weakness:
Needs Power to Pull'em if that's a weakness....duh! I have been a Klipsch Lover/Owner since my first Heresey's back in Early 70z...I have tried & turned back NHT and a number of other GOOD QUALITY units, but these KLF 30's are Exactly what they report..."The Best Rock'n Roll Speaker" out there! The Universal acclaims are impressive and honest. The Price has moved like the stock market, due to some small glitches, but Klipsch and their fine warranty and service has ammended needed changes. I plunked down the $1,600 and got a pair...After a weekend of Total Pleasure I jumped on two more! Just unbelievable is all I can say...A STEAL! I have nothing but praise for Klipsch & the service rendered & I believe they still power up Carnagie Hall...'nuff said. Similar Products Used: Tried'em all... |

Strength:
Awsome appearance(Mohogany for me), Very clean at low volume as well as ear damaging lvls. Customer support was great when i had an issue ( thats a biggie with me).
Weakness:
HEAVY, Needs to be complimented with higher end equiptment to achieve great sound I have owned these speakers for over 2 years. I bought them local and when the cabinets began to vibrate (after some very bad abuse on my behalf) i returned them and recieved a new pair that have withstood the test just fine. Found that i needed to bi-amp them to really get the bass i wanted. I use a Crown 1000 for the woofers and drive the horns with a Hafler, and a B&K Pro 10 pre amp. That really did alot to bring these into their own as clear and bright with nice low thumps that rattle the windows at my will. Recently i added an active crossover and can now tune different recording styles to the way i want to hear them. Anyone with these and decent equiptment won''t be disappointed.
