Strength:
Bass, Fullness
Weakness:
None that I've found... I'm not sure what else can be said about these speakers, but I noticed the last review was a while ago. I found these on sale for a pair what I was going to spend on one. WOW, I really am hearing parts of songs for the first time. The bass and overall fullness of the sound is just as great as one could ask for this category of speaker. Strength:
Great sound. Good soundstage, clarity and detail. Easy to place. Plays low enough to blend well with any sub.
Weakness:
For $300.00 bucks none, at all. These are great full range speakers. I use them for rears, but set them up as fronts during the break in period. Like all Klipsch speakers they take about 200 hours to break in, as the are very sensitive. They sound great with regular stereo or as part of a 7.1 system. They match very well with KLF-10,KLF-C7,KG-3.5 and KSW-12. By the way For those of you in Florida, Sound Advice has a lot of these left and will sell you all the pairs you want for $299.00. It is the best deal going, these speakers are easily worth twice that. Similar Products Used: KLF-10,Kg 3.5 |

Strength:
Amazing reproduction of sound. Feels like your in the studio
Weakness:
Makes my other speakers in the surround system sound like crap. Hooked them up, dropped in my SVR live CD, and thought I was back at Antone's. I could even hear the pick striking the strings. These speakers rocks and are extremely efficient. Similar Products Used: Bose 601 |

Strength:
Vocals, imaging is great in stereo applications
Weakness:
A little bright and the soundstage is BIG (small rooms get lost with these gems) If you love opera, oratorio, musicals or anything vocal these are IT. They have detail at 2000-5000 cycles that I have not heard from anything less than $1000 a pair. I auditioned the Vienna bach, the 1000i and the mirage om9c. While the 8.5 are more crude in some aspects there is NOT a 3:1 price to value difference. Oh, and for the discerning Rap lover they are also big and loud. Strength:
Nice clear sound at all levels, look good and has good bass. These speakers can crank.
Weakness:
Not many stores sell them. Big in size. Needed to replace my 23 year Advent floor speakers and wanted something that was as good. Look around at many speakers and was not impressed with any until I heard the Klipsch SF-2. I was ready to buy them until the sales person told me about the KSF 8.5. He was right on the money when he said they were a great sounding speaker. I was a litte wary about the horn tweeter but it sounds great. These speaker are better than most speakers selling for twice as much. After I got them home and started listening to them I was even more impressed with there sound. Using them as my main speakers with my cambridge sound 5.1 surround sound. Wish I knew about Klipsch early. Similar Products Used: jbln38, cambridge sounds tower |

Clear crisp highs, deep bass, soundstaging, price
Weakness:
very bright sound, need a good size room I bought these speakers about 3 weeks ago. I saw an ad in the newspaper advertising that these speakers were 50% off. For the price I paid for them, you can't beat it. It was an excellent buy if you are on a budget. I paid $20 more for the bose 301 series IV. These sound much better. The only problem that i find with them is that the sound is very bright even though my room is carpeted, which is supposed to give you a darker sound. In my bedroom, if you turn it up too loud you can hear many reflections off of the wall. That is why you need a good size room to play them in. One excellent strength is the deep bass. I have never heard a tower w/only one 8" sound this good. It shakes the walls, goes down to 30hz. If you are looking for a set of towers and have a small budget and want quality sound these are the speakers to get. It can handle a lot of power for 70 watts. The bose 301s are supposed to handle 150 watts. I put my amp at 11:00 and you start to hear distorting sound coming out of the bose. I can turn it all the way up with the klipsh and still get quality sound. I plan to purchase a subwoofer soon in the $300-$600 pice range. I am currently looking at the B&W ASW 500 and the Infinty IL100s Similar Products Used: bose 301, sony, bose acoustimass 5, Polk, JBL |

Strength:
No compression, very "live" sounding, imaging
Weakness:
none I am very impressed with these speakers. For quite a number of years, I've heard audiophile bashing (maybe too strong, disdain may be more like it) for the horn design, and how it should be relegated to clubs and frat houses. This is certainly not the case. I have these running with a Yamaha RX-V496, and these things are dangerous! Hard to tell that they are two-way also; from Keith Jarrett to heavy metal to classical, they are warm without the brightness that I've heard you might get with the horn tweeters. By all means, these things are a must-have at only $299 a pair. They are worth at least twice that much. Similar Products Used: AAL, NHT |

Strength:
well balance structure, nice look, very good sound at any volume level, affordable, but I bought mine new on SALE.
Weakness:
some people might not like the appearing of the horn tweeter I have been shoping for amost two years. I have listen to the Paradigm Reference 100, Polk RT800i, B&W DM604S2, and some others in this class. Those speakers, the manufactures did not allowed enough power goes to the tweeter. Klipsch's 1 inch horn tweeter has enough power to produce loud and clear of all the details of upper mid and high frequencies. A note: when I first used it, It didn't sound good, but after a total of about 10 hours broke in at low volume, I turned it up and I was totally satified. I believe under powered tweeter make the speaker sounds dull. Here is how I Similar Products Used: Advent Heritage, it is a lower class. |

Strength:
Very Detailed.
Weakness:
Some frequencies can sound very harsh coming out of the horn. (but thats the price of this kind of detail) Extremely detailed...Awsome for Home Theater and More mellow music... The SCREAMING in SOME songs my drive people insane because of the brightness of horn loaded tweeters... Similar Products Used: Klipsch Quintets, Promedias, RF3... |

Strength:
Build quality, value, 'live' music reproduction, efficiency
Weakness:
No bi-wire, speaker base is not threaded to allow for spike retrofit Great speakers given the closeout special. Replaced KSB 3.1 Synergy bookshelves with these; what an improvement. The larger tweeter horn disperses sound for a wider 'sweet spot', and the larger cabinet allows for reproduction of lower bass frequencies. While a little bright for some tastes, great for reproducing a 'live' type of sound in music as well as for home theater application. A great value in 'double duty' speakers.
