Strength:
crystal clear sound. Build quality is awesome.
Weakness:
Bass needs to be improved. My first Klipsch speakers...excellent sound reproduction. A little harsh during the break-in period. Not too happy with the bass. Use it primarily for movies but music sounds great too. Would highly recommend these speakers. Bought them at www.acousticsounddesign.com...great deals on speakers here. |

Strength:
Superb highs and mid range. Crystal clear sound. Solid build quality.
Weakness:
flimsy grills. Have had them for 2 years now. Excellent speakers. Perfect for movies or music. Bass is not great but that is what subs are for. The grills are flimsy. I've got a Klipsch center channel speaker and will have Klipsch surrounds soon..love Klipsch:) |

Strength:
musical and dynamics
Weakness:
ok the grilles suck Love them. Do not try to match a new RC-35 with them, the older speakers sound better, a lot better, more open and detailed. |

Strength:
Sensitivity Dispersion Dynamism & Delicacy in sound
Weakness:
Plastic Feet Grills The Cabinet could have been a bit more inert. They need to be carefully system matched and with the wrong equipment they can be pretty nasty ! Having had these for almost a year now..I am really in love with these. Intially they were bright & sibilant. but after breaking in and partnering with Warm sounding equipment, these are a joy to listen to and Very smooth. I listen to Rokc/Jazz/World Music & Vocals and this is perhaps the only speaker in the sub $2000 range which can handle all so well. Its high efficiency and beautiful dispersion makes it very easy to setup as well as run with low power class A amps, which really bring out the beauty of its sound. I partner it with a Sugden Int Amp and Goertz Cables which work very well. I presume some of the negetive comments on these have been because the system synergy has not been worked out correctly. with warm and slightly laidback components they can bring in bot a delicacy as well as dynamism to music. Sound, sound, sound!!! They just rock!! Looks (the copper cones are a beauty to behold), Build quality (they are very heavy and very well crafted)
Weakness:
The grilles are a little flimsy but as long as they are removed / installed carefully you shouldn't have a problem. Purchased the RF3-II's as part of a complete Klipsh HT system (RC3-II, RS3-II, and RSW-10 sub). They are powered by a Denon 3803 receiver and I couldn't be more pleased! The sound is VERY crisp and clean (but not bright) and PERFECTLY matched with the others in the set. I was worried a little about powering these with a Denon given it's tendency to be forward but the combination is very neutral and balanced. The RF3-II's have good bass response on their own for music, and the sub provides the extra punch for for movies effects, etc. Before purchasing these speakers my wife and I demo'ed just about everything in the Detroit area in the under-$1K price range (rock, techno, disco) including Paradigm (hollow when pushed hard), B&W (power hungry and a little flat), Boston (muddy), Canton (poor imaging), and Mirage (not enough bass) and the Klipsch were the best by far. In summary, I believe that these Klipsh speakers are great for those who enjoy listening to music regularly and they are outstanding when paried with the other products in the Reference line for a HT system. Weakness:
none UNreal. I had to add these to the HT I have religated the Klipsch bookshelves to the rear channel. After listening against the competition there was no comparison. I listened to these vs. KEF referance tower next to them at $1250 each and the KEF's sounded like garbage. THey were so bright you couldnt listen to them. THe RF3 II are very ballenced. unlike so of the older horned klipsch which tended to be bright with no bass these stay neuteal at all volume and any type of music. Additionally many of the newer Klipsch don't use real wood verneers. like these. unreal value. MIne were floor models and need no break in. bass is round highs are clean and mid is very neutral. I havent even bothered to hook my sub back into the system. |

None Great speackers for the price.Highs are clean and detailed. Build, Highs, very clear and versitle, good mids and doesn't require alot of power to make them sound and play loud!
Weakness:
lack of bass but then that is what sub's are for! what are you expecting for a pair of 8's? These RF3-2 are great for anyone looking to keep your main speaker purchase under $1000. I have all Ref3 series in my HT room and love them. I did add a 12" sub because the lack DEEP Bass (actually already had one). I get many compliments and often my friends call up asking to come over and watch a DVD so they can enjoy the 5.1. and watch movies on a 56" HD. Also mentioned from other posts that these are sensetive to placement and angle, so play with that and it does take aleast 40 hrs to break them in with music that bumps. Enjoy! Strength:
Insanely accurate and direct speaker. Can reproduce rock and metal like nothing else on the planet for anything thats under 3 kilobucks. Except the rf5's and 7's of course. Live treble that will smack you around a bit. Don't forget to toe them in some.
Weakness:
Bass could be better, buy a sub. Compression horns tend to spit treble right back at you and tend to be HIGHLY linear, if this is not your bag pick a diffrent speaker. Break in on rf3's is near 80 hours, turn on something hard, and loud and come back at the end of the week. All you can really say about horn loaded designs are "WOW". At 98DB sensitivity they make a mere 25 watts sound like 70watts on anything elese. Highs on this speaker are clean, detailed, and breathtakingly accurate. Great mids and fairly respectable bass on this model as well. I would strongly suggest a sub to round them out. If your intrested in home theatre, all the Klipsch Refrence series are timbre matched and will do the job exceedingly well. These speakers sound better than anything I have heard under 3 grand. If you really want to have to reinstall your jaw from the floor, pair them with a clean reciever and a SACD player. Similar Products Used: Kef, Logan, Def Tech |
