Strength:

WORLD CLASS SOUND AND VERY GOOD VALUE

Weakness:

NONE I KNOW OF

I SUBMITTED A REVIEW SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THIS PAIR OF SIG III'S, BUT I WANTED TO ADD THESE FURTHER COMMENTS SINCE I HAVE ENJOYED LISTENING TO THEM NOW FOR TWO YEARS. (I KNOW THE "RULES" BELOW SAY TO SUBMIT ONLY ONE REVIEW, BUT I GUY OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO ADD TO INFORMATION ABOUT A GREAT PRODUCT)

FIRST, THESE SPEAKERS KEEP SOUNDING BETTER THE LONGER I OWN THEM. AUDIOPHILES ARE CRITISIZED FOR NEVER BEING SATISFIED, BUT I HAVE NO DESIRE TO REPLACE THESE.

SECOND, AND THIS GOES ALONG WITH THE FIRST, IF I HAVE VISITED A HIGH END AUDIO STORE AND LISTEDED TO VASTLY MORE EXPENSIVE SYSTEMS, I NEVER FEEL BAD WHEN I GET HOME AND TURN ON MY SYSTEM- GETTING HOME ONLY REINFORCES MY CERTAINTY THAT THESE SPEAKERS ARE A GREAT VALUE. I THINK ANOTHER REVIEWER WAS RIGHT THAT STEREOPHILE (AND ABSLOUTE SOUND) IS TERRIFIED OF REVIEWING THESE, BECAUSE IF THEY WERE HONEST, THEY WOULD HACK OFF (AND LOOSE AD BUCKS) THE OTHER HIGH END (BUT OVERPRICED) SPEAKER COMPANIES!

THIRD, THESE SPEAKERS ARE GREAT WITH ANY KIND OF MUSIC. I RECENTLY HAD A PROSPECTIVE BUYER OF LEGACY PRODUCTS E-MAIL ME TO ASK IF I WOULD RECOMMEND THE SIG III'S FOR HIS PARTICULAR LIKES OF MUSIC- MY ANSWER WAS IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT HIS MUSICAL PREFERENCE WAS, THAT THESE WOULD SIMPLY BE VERY PLEASING SO MATTER WHAT HE RAN THROUGH THEM. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE FIRST TIME I AUDITIONED THEM IN THE AUDIO ROOM IN SPRINGFIELD, IL; WITHIN MINUTES I KNEW I WOULD EVENTUALLY OWN A PAIR. (THE CD THAT I WAS PLAYING WHEN I REALIZED THIS WAS MILES DAVIS "KIND OF BLUE". THIS IS ONE JAZZ ALBUM EVERYONE SHOULD OWN!)

FOURTH, THESE SHOULD BY MATCHED UP WITH THE BEST ELECTRONIC GEAR YOU CAN AFFORD. I STARTED WITH CARVER AND YAMAHA AMPS AND HAVE NOW GONE TO MONARCHY DAC, PREAMP AND MONOBLOC SE100 AMPS (DELUX) AND EACH CHANGE HAS SOUNDED BETTER.

THIS IS A SUPERB PRODUCT, AND I ENJOY THEM FOR HOURS AT A TIME, SOFT OR LOUD. IT WOULD TAKE A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY (MANY THOUSANDS OF $$$$$$$$$$$) TO GET BETTER.

I have now lived with Legacy Signature III’s for six month now. The more I listen the more I love them. They are also used as the fronts in my home theater set up, there is no need for a sub.
The bass has punch, the midrange is lightning fast without being harsh or fatiguing the highs are wonderful. Imaging is spectacular since I have upgraded to AudioTruth cables from Kimber PBJ.

When I looked for speakers I listened to many different brands, Dunlevey, Theil, NHT, Magnapan, Hale. They all lacked something. The Sig’s may not be perfect but they come closer to being an overall sounding good speaker than anything I have heard in twice the price range, this includes the Dunlevey’s at $8,000.

The speakers are about 2.5 feet from the back walls, my room is 18 X 31 with 9 foot ceilings.

My Equipment is modest

Sony S300 DVD
Adcom 555II preamp
Adcom 555II poweramp, musical concepts mod, rewired, new capacitors
AudioTruth Emerald interconects
AudioTruth Clear 3 on midrange/treble
AudioQuest Crystal on Bass

Again I can not say enough about these wonderful speakers, If you are looking in this price range try and give them a listen.

I have received e-mail from some of you asking about the price I paid for these speakers. I neglected to mention that Legacy took my old speakers in trade. I must say that they will do their best to offer you a fair trade in price for your old equipment. Another big plus for doing business with this fine company.

Sorry for the confusion.
