Legacy Audio Whisper Floorstanding Speakers
Legacy Audio Whisper Floorstanding Speakers

Scam. Only 95 db 1w/1m despite it's four 15" woofers. Looks like some rockconcert cone loaded monster but costs 10 times more. Only 600 w RMS. JBL |

We have owned Legacy Audio Whispers for over 18 months. "The best bang for the buck in ultra - High End" hands down. The best speakers I have ever heard and the fit and finish is without a blemish. Lets see, they connected them (something you should not do by yourself) we tweaked the positioning a bit and have not touched them for over 16 months! They sound better today than ever! We also use them as the front end on a Proceed SS system with Pacemaker, Marquis & Mist (all the speakers are in Rosewood) looks and sounds like a million bucks. Now with DD 5.1 and DTS at home we can not go out to movies anymore, we are spoiled! To say Bill Dudleston is a genius in his field is an understatement! |

One I got an invitation to go listen to Legacys speakers at there new location in Dallas. I went and I never heard anything or seen anything that sounded and looked that good. The Whisper by far in my opinion is the best speaker ever made, and truly is worth every penny. |

First, Muljadi Budiman needs to learn the language. Second, he needs to get the sand out of his ears. |

Strength:
The Legacy Whisper speakers represent the ultimate in speaker design in today's hi-end market. Right out of the speaker crates, they are sonic wonders exceeded only by the "live event" itself. It sets a standard as far as transparency, imaging, speed and accuracy go! One thing that really amazed me is that they seem to dissappear as if sound emanates from the front wall! These speakers are truly worth every penny (lots of it!) I invested in them. I come home everyday to enjoy concert-like music and theater-like movies.
Weakness:
I have found no serious weakness with the Whispers. They are extremely revealing of any flaws in the upstream components. They simply want the best electronics. I have an ATI 2505 that sounded good with my Martin-Logans but when I swithced to the Whispers, the amplifier just can't cut it. I am now in the market for a pair of the Krell FPB 650 M to drive them. The Whispers deserve the best amps to drive them to fully enjoy their potential. Oh, by the way, don't try to unpack them by yourself. It would be tantamount to having low-back and muscle pains (they weigh close to 300 pounds per speaker while in the crates!) All said, I would never part with the Whispers! They are probably one of the best speakers one can purchase regardless of price range or speaker design ( dynamic, planar or hybrid). They offer sound quality that is next to the actual live performance without the hassle of paying scalpers for overpriced tickets and falling in line for several hours, rain or shine, at an actual concert. Finally, don't be concerned about the apparent weak bass output of the Whispers. What they put out is music; sweet and true, reflective only of the recorded material . Add a subwoofer if you must, only if you're "bass-hungry!" Enough said for now as I am preparing to enjoy a private concert with Patricia Barber! Similar Products Used: I have never owned anything similar to the Whispers . My audio equipment are as follows: Lexicon MC 1 preamp-processor, ATI 2505 power amplifier, Pioneer DVL 919 LD/CD/DVD player and MIT cables throughout. I also own a Legacy Marquis center channel. |

Strength:
Transparency, Detail, Imaging, Full range, High sensativity relatively forgiving of room placement, Fit and Finish, Low cost in terms of piston area per dollar, especially when compared to all other high-end loudspeakers
Weakness:
Unless an RDP-1 is used, requires Whisper Electronic Box be placed in audio chain for proper bass output Extremely detailed, airy sound. Reproduces instrumental and vocal timbres beautifully. Open air design produces very taught and musical sounding bass, but Legacy Focus has stronger bass enery output. Very slight loss of detail and transparency due to electronic Whisper Box. This was noted when the Whisper Box was removed and the resultant diminution of bass output was rectified with the RDP-1 digital pre-amp. Still, even with this flaw, I would take the Whispers hands down over every other loudspeaker referenced above in the "Similar Products Used" category. Very extended highs and sweet midrange. The cabinetry is a work of art. Similar Products Used: Legacy Focus, Genesis 300, ESP Concert Grand, ESP Harp |
