I have been in the industry a long time, and have heard many loudspeakers. Never have I come across a speaker,at this price [even at full retail] that can come close to the keilidh's.If you have not heard these speakers, then I suggest you search them out,and you will be amazed.!

Strength:

clear, detailed sound

Weakness:

still looking...

Used as part of an all-Linn setup (Mimik/Wakonda/LK85/LK100, active). Great speakers for the clasical music I like. Active conversion improved an already great speaker. Hope the replacement Linn has recently introduced can follow this act.

Strength:

Plays anything you throw at it with incredible ease, very neutral sound, looks (sometimes I just look at them without any music on, a masterpiece)

Weakness:

Sounds stuppid, but in 2 years I didn't found any yet.

Bought them at an incredible low price 2 years ago (one had a litle scratch on it) and since that day I am smiling everytime I pop in a CD.
Low volume, high volume, Kraftwerk, Radiohead no matter what I do with them, they keep amazing me.

If you can get your hands on them (they are out off Linns productrange) don't think twice, buy them.

To be short, best buy I ever made.

Strength:

Timbre, bass, separation, deep soundstage

Weakness:

a little shut in.

My respect for these speakers is growing. First let me preface this review with a story. Previous to the Keilidhs, I had some Tannoy profile 637 speakers, which I sold to move overseas. I bought the Linns upon returning. I had missed the drive, imaging and "boogie factor" of the Tannoys for years now. Recently, the person I sold them to let me take the Tannoys home and compare them to the Linns. No contest! There is no area in which the Tannoys are not bettered by the Linns, including the elusive "boogie factor". In hifi you can't go backwards, and the Keilidhs have spoiled me! They are a real taste of the hi end. There is nothing "budget" about these speakers. Whatever sins they make are of omission and not comission. Going aktiv lets more out of the speakers, but supposedly not until you have the amps and sources straightened out. Yeah baby!
