Strength:

Subwoofer is built very well.Small cabinet with a big sound.
Built in A-B mosfet amp.Attachable feet come with the sub.
Smooth and fast tight bass, not boomy.

Weakness:

Can't figure out how to set the crossover point where I
don't have to turn the sub up to 8.No other weaknesses.

This is a very good sounding subwoofer. It sounds alot bigger
than it really is.The 8" woofer produces non boomy quick and
tight bass. You only hear the bass when needed. No fake sounding bass when you don't need it.The subwoofer came packaged with feet you can attach to the bottom of the sub
if you want to.Everything was neat and pacakaged to pefection. The unit is not very big so you can hide if from
your wife if need be the case.I have the sub in a good sized
den and it fills the entire room with bass when needed.I
don't have my sub set up properly because I am having to
set the sub on 8 to get any bass out of it.I think I have
it hooked up to the wrong output. But that is my fault.I am
going to buy a second one since my A/V receiver has 2 sub
inputs.I love this sub.My klipsch was nice but sounded to
boomy and in your face all of the time. This is also a great
sub for audiophile listening. It has a great sound, where you don't really notice it until the music brings it to your
attention.I highly recommend this product.

Strength:

Lots of bass for even a mid-sized living area.
Volume control and crossover control.
External crossover input.

Weakness:

No phase control, but I didn't need it.

The FRx-S8 is a great little subwoofer. It fills my mid-sized room with so much bass, it's incredible. The FRx-S10 would have been overkill.

My sub is matched with FRx-One mains, FRx-Center, and AVS-200 surrounds, and it works well with all. It runs off a Yamaha HTR-5150 receiver through the External crossover input. My receiver crosses over the sub line output at 90Hz, so I didn't want to feed it through another crossover. This way, all the controls are on the receiver, too.

If you can't find the Mirage version, try the Energy 8" sub -- it's the exact same speaker with a different nameplate. I know you can get it from AudioShop in Canada for less than the Mirage version here in the States. But, even with the higher US price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a sub with as much sound for the same price.

What an incredible little sub. Don't be deceived....this sub can seriously pack a punch. I just auditioned it with a set of avs-100's and avs-200's. Probably looking into getting two of em ot fill the room and with a 400watt peak power handling this thing will be able to fill my room easily. For a $300 you can't go wrong
