Strength:
Smooth through entire range. Toimbre matched to existing M-series speakers.
Weakness:
None Using 4 OM-R2's for the surround and rear -center speakers in a 7.1 system. Replacing 2 Mirage 260's. Chose these over the Mirage Omnisat speakers for better dynamic range and for a more "omni" effect even though these are not omni-directional speakers like the Omnisats. Positoned at ceiling level at the side and rear of the room, these seem to really fill the room. Timbre a better match for my M-3 main speakers and center channel speaker as well. Strength:
Great sound and spaciousness!
Weakness:
Poor mounting system - back of speaker will not easily lie flush with the wall. These speakers have been outstanding for both music and movies, especially DD and DTS. I have them mounted on the rear wall because I did not have space on the sides, and they work perfectly. They are very detailed. Front to rear effects are performed with unmatched precision. They are a nice step up from the very good MBS series. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: Mirage MBS |

Strength:
Spacious sound, omnipolar, and match my other Mirage speakers.
Weakness:
none Replaced my 4 year old Mirage m-90's after listening at a local retailer. Those who dont think omnipolar will make a difference with the surround channel need to sit down and listen for a few minutes. The difference is unbelievable. I run a OMC3 center and M595 fronts and couldn't be happier with the sound of these speakers. Five stars!!! Similar Products Used: Klipsch KSS1, Mirage M-90i's |

I replaced a pair of old Sony surround with the OM-R2s and the difference was immediately noticeable. Suddenly the movie experience was more enjoyable and sounds were heard on favourite movies that had never been heard before. |

I have these babies in the rear with a Mirage MC-2 center and legacy Classics upfront. When a sub is needed, Energy's ES-8 does the job for my small room. The rears truly paint a diffuse and enjoyable soundfield in Home Theater as well as 5 channel stereo from my Denon AVR3200. Buid quality is high--they are suprisingly hefty for their size. Highly recommended. |

The OM-R2 produces very diffuse sound-much better than its older model the MBS-2. The first word that comes out of my mouth is:Awesome! |

Wow...as simple as that. Home Theater Magazine may have hit the mark in calling this speaker, "possibly the perfect surround speaker." I replace the Mirage AVS 100 Micro's I was using for surrounds with these babys, and the difference is tremendous. Not only in comparing the R2's to the 100's, but to any other surround out there. I did my research and believe I found the winner. The 'omnipolar' design really developes a large and enveloping rear sound stage in Pro Logic, and in dts and Dolby Digital, everything is crystal clear. |

Excellent speaker for home theater. It's paired with Rogers main speakers and Mirage center speaker OM-C2, and amplified by a Yamaha 2095. Delicious! Highly recommended. |

I have always been a beleiver in matched rear speakers. i.e. Whatever I used up front... I used the same at the back. The Mirage OMR-2 is the first speaker I have heard that challenged my ideas. I use Mirage OM-10's up front with an OMC-2 and 4 BPS-150i Bipolar subwoofers and 2 BPS-210 subwoofers for the ".1" LFE. I had planned on purchasing a second pair of OM-10's until I auditioned the OMR-2. At a third the price the OMR-2 were almost dismissed from thought as being to cheap. What a mistake I almost made! The OMR-2 produce a wonderfully difuse accurate sound that matched seamlessley with the OM-10's. Admitadley I have them mated with 2 BPS-150i sub's that handle the deep bass (hi-passed) response but the OMR-2's have a beautiful mid range and that characteristic sweet, rich, warm sound that Mirage seem to produce so effortlessley. These speakers produce a solid coherant soundfield that contributes to the overall experience of the movie. I highly reccomend them to anyone considering surround speakers. |
