I just brought these speaker home and man am I pleased. I orginally was going to purchase the 732 but my dealer had a deal on the 733. These were demo speakers with about two hours run time on them anyway, since the 732's would have needed stands for about the same price I got the 733's. These speakers are wonderful with pleanty of bass that is very tight and clean, no muff here. The midrang is detailed as well as the highs. I have found myself re-listening to all my old CD's and discovering music that I have never heard before. I orginally started shopping for B&W speakers and was going to buy either the 601 or 602. When I heard these I couldn't resist. They sound more open then the 601 or the 602 and also there is a lot more bass. This is one fine speaker. In my opinion you can't do better for the price. I'm driving these with an old AR receiver w/40 watts this seems to be pleanty of power.

These are my most recent upgrade to my system, now consisting of a Philips cd500 cd-player, a Rotel 930 AX integratedamp, an old Vestax DJ's turntable and, of course, the Missions. The 733i is the descendant of the old 733 but it doesn't share
that model's inverted driver/tweeter placement. Other than that I guess they are pretty much the same. I auditioned the
Missions against a pair of JPW MPL 910's, a pair of Mirage speakers (unfortunately I can't remember the model name.) and
various others that I never really considered. The JPW's were great, but they cost about another $150 and were also maybe a
bit too big for my small apartment. The Mirages had a problem in the bass-area. There were lots of bass, in my opinion the
speakers overemphasized the bass register, also the bass was kind of muddy and lacked detail. The Missions on the other
hand are perfectly balanced. The sound is engaging and they simply make listening to music more fun. Also they look great!
Perhaps I would like to have an even more detailed sound, but in this price range that means standmounters and I really do not
want to sacrifice the richness in sound that a floorstanding model produces. In this price-segment they are certainly worth a
five-speaker rating.

They truely pocess all of the traits that one would expect from a speaker costing three time the price. Most strikingly they have increadible bass, deep, but very well controlled.733i's bass, which reaches down to 10Hz to 40Hz. 20/100watt~
The one flaw for me would would have to be how the grill's are attached.
I would rate them a (5)but I've never seen anything worth a (5)..

These are great speakers if you are into dance music, as they are really powerful, and can drive at loud volumes with little distortion. Detail and ambience is slightly sacrificed, but you will not find more excitement at this price (or even much higher up the audio price scale).
They really do need high quality partners, in particular amplification. I use a Marantz CD63SE and Audiolab 8000S/8000PX. Some would say that this cost of amplification is wasted on the speakers, and for them it may be, but the system really sounds superb.

I have listened to other expensive speakers like Monitor Audio MA703PMCs, worth 3 times the price, and in my opinion, the missions sounded better. I may replace them eventually with something like B&W P5s, which have more power and better detail.

THESE ARE VERY GOOD SPEAKERS, they may not do every thing perfect but they are with out a dout the best all rounders at the price.

Strength:

Cheap. Stand the test of time - Mine are 5+ years old and still sound fairly good. Need a sub ideally. Good all rounders. Not for the Audiophile amongst us.

Weakness:

Absolutely attrocious grille mounts; extremely poor and certainly sub-standard for Mission.

If you can find a pair I'd certainly recommend them - as a first floor-stander at any rates.

Their sound is not a particularly tight or controlled one, but can be described more as "comfortable".

This was, no-doubt, a very good budget floor-stander in it's day.

They are a little un-realistic and harsh on the trebble side, but this can be toned-down by using decent interconnects and speaker-cable.

The TDL RTL 2 is a much more controlled, punchier speaker (if you like that kind of thing), but since my friend managed to blow his up I can hardly recommend them ;-)

Personally I'm upgrading to B&W CDM1NT speakers which offer a controlled, powerful, detailed sound with an open energetic sound-stage. Some would call them harsh but this is not the case if run in properly, partnered with decent electronics and complimented by good quality cable (Van den Hul for instance)

Mission's 733 is a moderately sized 2 way floorstander with and inverted driver arrangement (woofer at the top). They are not bi-wireable and are basically Mission 732's in a larger floorstanding cabinet. The quality of finish is very good, and the appearance modern. These speakers are designed for rock and dance music, for which the are pretty good, producing plenty of fast bass. They are reasonable for classical and acoustic, but would be bettered in this role by many similarily priced standmounters. These speakers now sit on the front end of my home cinema system (driven by a Kenwood KR7070) for which they are excellent.
Conclusion: Recommended for Rock, Dance and AV use.

I love my 733's.
I auditioned speakers from PSB, B&W 602 and Infinity RS2000.5. They were all in the $700 Canadian range.

I find the PSB's not enough definition on the highs.
B&W 602, great speakers but I prefer a floor stander.
Infinity 2000.5, great highs no bass. You definitely need a sub.
Mission 733, good bass, good high. Better highs than the PSB but not as good as Infinity. Good enough bass better than all the others.

Conclusion, Mission 733's are a great all around speakers considering the price.

BTW, I found a demo floor model at the store that is $300 less.
