This pair of speakers produces clear unmuddy sound. Image is good but not great. Bass is weak. Overall the sound is truth and soft. I auditioned it with Energy C-6 & Infinety RS2000.6. The mission is the best among them at the same price range.

Hi, DO NOT BUY THESE SPEAKERS! Sorry, but listen to the advice! The 734i's are large boomboxes with horrible high and mid ranges, deep, but equally garbage bass, and the worst build quality on earth. Yes I used to have a pair, I was suckered in a few years back in my audiophile infancy. You actually won't even have a chance to buy these anymore, since it's being discontinued (shows how good they are) ! If you want a good speaker in the same price range $800.00 Canadian then look at the Mission Special Edition bookshelf speaker (infact this is the only good speaker in thier lineup considering price/sound).

Not really a true rock or disco speaker but the closest to an all round speaker I’ve heard at this price. Highs are a little harsh but so are many other speakers in its class. The bass is not floor shaking but tight, deep and precise. The build quality is among the best. I auditioned it Paradigm Monitor 7 and for the same money the Mission is clearly the best buy by far.
If you’re shopping for new speakers audition the new Paradigm Reference Studio 60 or 80 ‘s they are amazing.

The 734s are excellent speakers. At 899/pair they are a little high compared to other brands. I was able to buy my pair at about $600/pair. They are not perfect, but with the right price and powered with the right electronics, they are difficult to beat.
These speakers were not discontinued because they are not good. These speakers are not well known in the US. In the UK, they have been on best buy lists for years.

The person who left a comment that these speakers are bad with the reason that it is discontinued does not know what he is talking about.

"this is a pair of speakers which kicks sonic butt, a veritable bargain for floor shaking bass"......What HiFi Magazine UK.
Whislt the 734's will rock hard, don't expect that huge bass unless you are prepared to turn the wick up and don't expect miracles using cheap partnering gear.

It would be an injustice however, to classify the 734's as rock boxes...far from it. In reatlity these speakers are all-rounders. Sure the treble is slightly harsh but the soundstaging and clarity are bettered by none in their price range (AUS $1600)...there is plenty of air in the detailed treble too. Without doubt though, the 734's greatest strength is control. Here is a pair of speakers which will party at almost disco sound pressure levels without the slightest hint of sound compression...instruments start and stop when their supposed to.

My only gripe with the 734 speaker system is that they won't truly rock at low volumes and depending on the quality of the recording, at moderate volumes.

An awesome pair of speakers, a veritable bargain for floor shaking bass. The treble can verge on the harsh side at times but for dance music, few speakers convey such energy and power. Partnered with the right amplifier and they'll blow you away!
