Strength:
After working in a high-end audio shop in the 90's, and spent many hours listening to the whole range of speakers, from the top line of KEF, Mission, Dynaudio, Tannoy, Snell etc, to speakers from other stores like Dali, B&W, Klipsch, Focal, Infinity, and so on. I have also been building speakers since the 90's and had an interest in audio for many many years. I found something in the Mission 751 Freedom that I liked... They played lots of different music types very well. They have a very clear, detailed and precise mid-range. I have always been sceptic to metal dome tweeters, but these fit very well for this speaker and plays amongst the best metal dome tweeters I've heard with the right cables. The 751 Freedom serve up a pretty good imaging and vocals are always amazing and makes the artist very present in the Imaging without being un-natural, but rather perfect positioned. I can listen for hours and hours to these speakers, I dont experience any listening fatigue! I have have measured the speakers frequency range/SPL, phase, ohm etc, and together with the build and quality, I am satisfied with the overall quality of the speakers. To bad Mission have declined (in my eyes/ears) in their build and sound quality of their speakers over the years :/ I bought these speakers used, around 2005 (for around 150USD/Euros), and I have had them in my reference system since! These are my go to speaker for when voicing my own speakerbuilds, but also comparing other brand speakers, cables, amps, sources etc. These are also perfect near-field listening speakers in my mind. They have given me many good hours of good music reproduction! And dont expect amazing low frequency performance from speakers of this size. But I think they do perform very well, and do reproduce low frequencies in such a way that you can hear them, but you will of course not be blown away. I sometimes couple this system up with an active sub (~65hz and below), to better compare with larger speakers, and the result is superb and on the edge to magical! I have had the speakers for 14 years now, and I cant ever see my self now replacing them. They will stay with me forever! Even if I found better bookshelf speakers, I would always keep these for reference! Weakness:
If there are any "weaknesses", I must say that they are very transparent (which I would say is a positive thing, at least for my use). Changes in a system are to me very easy to hear. I have two other hifi systems in my house, and changing very similar sounding components might be hard to impossible to hear, but on my reference system with the 751 I can hear the difference right away. That said, I have never heard them play bad on any of the AMPs I have tested them on (mostly hifi/high end brands) that play good on other speakers. But I find them very sensitive to cables, both speaker cables and interconnects. So if you own a pair of these 751's and you are not satisfied, try different brands of cables, assuming you have a decent AMP and source. Price Paid: 150 Euro/US

This is one if the beautiful little standmounts mission ever made. Suits well for music recorded before 90s.The instrument seperation, vocal and treble are the biggest advantages of this smallboy. One can feel the clarity of music from recording studio. The build quality is excellent and sturdy one. Weakness:
Not good for modern rock songs Price Paid: 250

Absolutely wonderful! Fast, dynamic, precise - faboulous soundstage, great bass. Slightly on the dark side, in a good way. Great bass - can easily fill my living-room (35 m2) at normal listening levels. I use it with a Naim Nait XS, rather powerful little thing, but the 751 also perfroms with my smaller bedroom amp. Paid appr. 180 USD and it feels like the speaker bargain of my life :-)). |

Great little speakers and I do mean great. It's 2010 and people here are still reviewing what must be one of Mission's greatest speakers; rightly so, they're fabulous. Still plenty out there on the second hand market.

I just bought a pair Mission 751 Freedom speakers here in Doha. It was an unsold items from the previous dealer here in Qatar old stock but brand new still in a box. I saw it in their clearance sale. I sold my B&W VM1 and bought this. No regrets at all. Great sound. Actually better sounding than my Polk's RTi4. Clarity is superb. It's a legend.

I have always admired the Mission 751 speakers. I listened to them in the mid 90'ies and loved them. I went for bigger speakers back then, which where a better choice for me at the time.
