In my search for new speakers, I tried five: the Mission Freedom 752's, the B&W P5's, the PSB Stratus Silvers, Theil 1.5's, and KEF Q65's. I found the Missions to be very pleasing in the mids and treble, except occasionally I did get some hardness out of even the new tweeters, BUT bass? Very thin, from an amp known for it bass output. There just wasn't enough there. There is nothing wrong with well-defined bass output, especially since it is designed to be there in recordings. I believe that with the 752's, you're not really getting it. As a result, their balance was noticeably "light", if not bright. Still very nice in the up front clarity of the rest of the audio spectrum, they managed to sound exciting at the same time. But, in the end, I looked elsewhere. I did try the 753's, but they seemed too much the other way. |

I have owned a pair of Mission 752 freedoms for about 2 months now and am very pleased with their performance. The sound really impressed me from the moment I biwired them to my B&K / Adcom front end. The sound really opens up after about 48hrs of play and becomes very smooth and warm. The imaging and sound stage is impressive. They are very detailed, but at the same time extremely smooth and fast. High volume listening to a diverse variety of music has proven the 752 freedom a real pleasure. They produce plenty of smooth, tight bass, so don't let a 6 1/2 inch LF driver deceive you. They are beautifully constructed and still affordable. I spent many hours and trips listening to speakers and find the 752 freedoms hard to beat. Give them a listen. |
