I've just picked up a pair of these for the price of a takeaway for two for my little office system, and I'm sure my enjoyment of them will last longer than a meat madras. It's difficult to compare them objectively to other Missions I've owned - the office is new and I'm using a Yamaha mini HiFi instead of separates. I have heard JPW Mini Monitors under the same conditions and they were tighter and more polite & neutral; due in part to their sealed design. The 760is are ported, and seem more exciting at first - drum rhythms in electronic music stand out, but there is little in the way of bass. It's commendable that Mission didn't tune the bass port to flatter 'showroom' frequencies, especially given the budget market these were pitched at. This is a sensible ported design aimed at fidelity, and certainly not the boombox crowd. Other first impressions are that the speakers seem a little bright and slightly muddled in the low mids. All of this could be attributed to either my office room or the mediocre system though. This is not my impression of them from online videos, and I suspect they come alive with a more capable amplifier. The space is large and relatively empty, which probably creates it's own problems in terms of deflection. I positioned the speakers on a low window sill; something the sealed boxes probably tolerated better. Mission say these are happiest close to a wall, however they probably intended them to be further from the floor (and wall) than in my space. I've also had 751s, 734s & 732s, and 703s. The less said about the 703s the better, but the 732s are significantly better and the 751s in a different league. I'm not saying these are bad speakers - far from it, they're pretty good - but I can see them being too bright for some tastes and possibly a bit fatiguing over time. Still, my instincts tell me they would sing with a decent system - something I'd love to try if I hadn't just got them under the wife radar due to their similarity to the JPWs! Price Paid: 20

Bought them in 1994 and back then i underrated them. but every time i heard them i came back to the sound of Mission speakers. And it is true, if you have a small livingroom witch is well damped they will sound amazing.

Vocals, highs, midbass, binding posts, power handling
Weakness:
Lower freqs, placement Mine is 760iSE. I bought them from a store in Bournemouth in 1994. I have been using them since. They are very sensitive to placement. If you place them right you will get superb vocal and higher frequencies with a good lower frequencies production. This means that if you like bassy sounds they will be not enough to satisfy you. Other than that they have a very classy sound for all type of musics especially for acoustic demanding ones. Although they look pretty small power handling is very good. Strength:
price, robust, puncy, clear, enougth bass if you have perfect acoustics in the room.
Weakness:
getting old and difficult to get hold off (i want 2 more). maybe need more bass i replaced my original sony speakers with these, it was only a cheap system so i wasn't experecting any miracles. Even with dorbelll wire connecting they sound incredible. very punchy and dont strain when played loud. very good reproduction. my friend is a bit of an audiophile, he admits that on some songs my £200! system sounds better than his with these speakers. A good value-for-money product especially if found secondhand. Its strengths are typical Mission: fast sounding, fair transparency, and good with vocals. However, the treble is rough, the bass/mid driver can be better made, and like other Mission speakers I have owned tend to lose it when asked to reproduce anything complex. Buyers with low-current budget amplifiers should beware, it is not a push-over load as the price may lead you to think. Needs care in system matching. Strength:
Precise, clear, small, discreet
Weakness:
Deep bass could use a bit of help (sub) Even after 7 years, and the purchase of the brilliant CDM's, I really enjoy listening to these. Sure it could do with a bit more deep bass, but hey the bass that's there is surprisingly pleasant and keeps you from constantly begging for more. I think few brands if any brand delivers better sound considered prize and size. If you're into vocals, these can be really stirring. Furthermore, if sound isolation isn't terrific, your neighbours will be pleased with your purchase too. In short, yes they are very nice for nice music, no for movies or young rockers look someplace else, or buy a sub. My bet is that if you really feel like listening to the music, you will turn the sub off. Similar Products Used: Sonobull 20, B&W CDM1, basic Magnat floorstanders |

I have a pair of these great little speakers. A deceptively well-rounded sound from a smaller "budget" speaker. Give them a good current and keep the other rules (good leads, right height, metal stands) and they really wake up. I found they especially like guitar and soprano voices. Ideal for a small to medium-sized room. |

Strength:
Great sound for the money. One of the best speakers in this price range. Will outperform more expensive speakers.
Weakness:
None The reason I give these speakers a 5 star rating is because of the price I paid for these. I was able to purchase them used and thus saved a tremendous amount of money. I have these speakers connected to a Pro Musica modified Dynaco Stereo 70 and a Carver tubed CD player. Speaker wires and interconnects are the cheaper Tara Labs cables. Black diamond racing cones #4 and Synergistic Labs AC coupler running to a Atus power conditioner.
