Strength:

Clean Sound, Quality Build, Easy To Place, Great Value.

Weakness:

Although these speakers sound good right out of the box, the full break in period takes 60-90 hours. It''s well worth the wait because the sound only improves with time.

I¹m using the Bronze 1 speakers as fronts and rears of my system. My center channel is Monitor¹s Baby Center, which is from the same "family" of speakers. It blends perfectly. If space had allowed, I would have purchased the Bronze Center, but the Baby does a fine job. A Definitive Technology Pro Sub 100TL provides a solid bottom end for both music and movies. I drive my system with a Denon 2801 AVR. The Bronze 1 speakers are my solution for a "better" sub/sat system. Throughout my research, I¹ve listened to all the sub/sat systems available. At the end of the day, I wasn¹t happy with any of them. The best was Monitor¹s Baby Boomer System. However, with the Bronze 1¹s, I get the same sound, but with increased dynamics. They are front ported, which is an important design element for my application. I¹ve mounted the fronts and rears to a10-foot ceiling, in each corner of a mid-sized room. The Bronze 1¹s are small enough, and light enough, to get away with this. The Omni-Mount brackets afford flexibility to pan and tilt the speakers. I searched many months for speakers that gave me the most pleasing sound. There¹s something about the Bronze series that my ears really love. It¹s a very clear and clean sound. Details stand out, even at low to medium volume. At $300 a pair, they are packed full of value. I¹m surprised more people don¹t know about these fine speakers. I listen to CD¹s and DVD concerts about 50% of the time, TV 25% and watch movies 25%. These speakers do a solid job with all formats. If you are interested in learning more, there is an informative article on Monitor Audio¹s web site. It features a comparison of the Bronze 1 to similar speakers. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Strength:

Coherence; neutrality

Weakness:

bass

I bought these speakers 1 year ago , when I arrived in Montreal for a new student's life. I left Paris and my quite good system there: a Linn Kairn preamp , Audiolab 8000PX amp, Copland CDA 266 CD player and Linn Keilidh speakers.
Actually , I don't have much time to listen to music now. My room and the set-up are not audiophile ones like Ihad in Paris .I brought from Paris a Cambridge CD6 player and a Nad 712 ampli-tuner. I was looking for a small pair of "fine" and not expensive speakers!
I bouhgt the Bronze 1. I put them in the bookcase as my one year old son does not allow me to put them on stands!!
So you see, my review is worthy only because I'm used to listen to what I would call very good systems, so I suppose my ears can evaluate properly these speakers , even with a poor set-up.

They are very pleasant to listen to. Very neutral and coherent except for the bass of course, but its extension is not frustrating. You don't hear like for many other small speakers only medium and a high treeble. Medium and treeble are just fine, not warm like glue , as for many british speakers, but not aggressive like for many american or french ones. Actually , these MA gave me the will to listen to other speakers from MA, high end ones , when I 'll be back to Paris in two years.
Their weakness is maybe a small lack of emotion , comparing to Mission 731 pro for example, but they are much more neutral, and also a lack of dynamics but I 'm note sure for that, as my set-up is really poor.

For the price , they are great speakers to start with or for a second room system, and I highly recommend them.
( Please , excuse my english, I'm a poor frenchie!)

Strength:

construction quality, detailed sound

Weakness:

weak bass

I sold my three video shielded Paradigm mini monitors and replaced with three Bronze 1 speakers as my front speakers. Why? because when I listen classical music with mini monitors driven by my Yamaha 595a, they sound like violins and pianos were covered with a wet tow, the mid range sound is very muddy to a point that I can not stand anymore. Sometimes, the tweeters on mini monitors can get very harsh with my receiver. I compared my mini monitor with Bronze 2 speaker side by side in my dealer's room. Bronze 2 is as good as mini monitor in movie sound tracks and better for classic music. So I made deal with my Monitor Audio dealer and ordered two pairs of Bronze 1. Bronze 1 is much more detailed than mini monitor in mid range and tweeters never get harsh with my Yamaha. The only thing lacking compared to mini is bass. For bass, I still have my Paradigm PDR-10.

If you listen some classical music, I suggest you compare Bronze 1 or 2 speaker to Paradigm mini monitor if you still have mini monitor on your shopping list. The front porting on Bronze makes the placement of speaker very easy, you can place them against wall. You can not do that with mini monitors. Paradigm mini is good for everything else but classical music.

Strength:

Similar sound to Silver series

Weakness:

$300 dollar bookshelfs are not it huge demand. Part quality

Compared them side be side with the Silver 5i's and guess what? Not that big of a difference. These are very detailed and have a wonderful soundstage. They should be put on stands though to have maximum benefits. They of course don't look as good as Silver series but they do have the same tweeter I believe so they do sound very similar, not as much bass of course.
