It appears that some of the people writing these reviews have never even listened to these speakers. The silver 9 really rocks. Unfortunately the same guy who has wrote a pile of rubish about the Silver 9 has also done the same about most other Monitor Audio speakers on the Audio Review site. The guy needs his ass kickin. Anyway enough about stupid joe six pack Tom, who appears to live all over the U.S and dish out 1 star to un-deserving effect. Anyway I have had the silver 9i's for about 10 months and tell you what, you would have to hack off my right arm to get me to part with these babies. They rock, they do cinema (in my room even without a sub)They party, they play music. You know if someone said to me that they use a Volkswagen engine in a Viper, firstly I wouldn't believe them, and secondly if it did the business who gives a hoot. I don't care if the tweeter cost 50cents, it sounds better than any tweeters I've heard. So who do you believe? Go out and listen for yourself, go on have a treat!

tweaks suggested by M.O. is a must

I am compelled to add to the review of this awesome speakers because of the comment on the 4th review down from this one, stating the the new drivers were introduced on these speakers with a serial # of 3000 and up.
I emailed Monitor Audio about it and here's the reply from Mr David Solomon

" Hi Rommel,
The information on the serial# is incorrect. The last improvements were after sn 0733 so you do have the latest and greatest.
They will take a few days to burn in all the way. I hope you enjoy them for many years to come. If you have any more questions, please write back anytime."

the serial # on my speakers are 2098 and everything that I can say about this speakers are all mentioned in the review before so I will not repeat them.
- and to Mr David Solomon of M.O. Hats of to you Sir and to your company, thanks a lot.

System Specs:
MA silver 9i mains
MA silver 12i center
MA asw 210 sub
B&W solid surrounds
Marantz sr 8000 receiver
Toshiba 5109 DVD
Toshiba TN61 X81 high def

After many years of saving my money and reviewing literally dozens of product combinations, I finally purchased the above system this fall. All I can say is that I can never go to a movie theatre again! The sound, picture, and overall experience are to die for!! As you can tell, I was intending to focus mainly on HT, but with the MA speakers, I am rediscovering my music library. I do believe you need to spend some decent cash on your electronics to get the best out of these speakers though. For music, I have listened extensively to the 9i's with and without the sub and I prefer them with the sub. The Marantz seems to thrive on a setup that includes a sub, which allows the mains to focus on midrange and higher, so this is how I listen to most of my stuff. For HT, this system defies description. Put the Matrix DVD in, skip to the lobby shoot-out, and prepare to duck for cover...just unreal!! A word of caution: the 9i really integrates vocals properly into the music. If you are used to having the vocals "up front" they might sound a little reserved at first. By the time these babys are broken in though, you will be in Nirvana! Way to go Monitor Audio! To find any speaker even close to the 9i would require a substantial increase in price. I recommend everyone to have a listen to these speakers!!!
