I had a set of Paradigm 7se speakers and thought they were wonderful. But like everyone I wanted something new. I picked up a pair of 1.5's and put them on 27" stands. I run them with an hk w/ 80 watt/channel and they sing to me. It's no myth when people say you will hear things with this speaker: George Winston's foot as he comes of the sustain pedal, Bono taking a breath, Frank Orral(poi dog pondering) sliding contra on the acoustic guitar. Buy these if you want to HEAR the music. I auditioned B&W,Snell,Boston, etc. The sound is so tight it bores me when I listen to other speakers now. The AudioCenter1 is also a great center channel w/ similar characteristics. Buy and enjoy. |

For primarily home theater applications, the B&W DM602's are better, especially if you are going to use a receiver or a low powered amplifier. On the other hand if you have an amp with a good power supply and can deliver somewhere around 100-150 watts, the NHT 1.5's will sound superb in both home theater and music. I don't want to confuse you anymore, but if you get the opportunity, audition the B&W CDM2's; they are a little more expensive than the other two ($800.00 a pair), but they sound sublime . Happy hunting and good luck. Any of the above you choose is a great choice. I am giving the NHT1.5's 3 stars because for $600.00 a pair(retail), you have to spring for expensive amplification for them to sound good. |

I've been putting of a review of the 1.5 until I had considerable time tolisten to them. As far as bookshelf speakers go, they are very good. They do |

A wonderful sounding speaker with a wonderful price. The high end and midrange was quite accurate and bass was tight and controlled. For the price this speaker is tough to beat for bookshelf sized speakers. Not to mention, it is also a very handsome looking speaker-an NHT trademark. I give the speaker a 4 out of 5. I own the KEF RDM 2's, in comparisson. They aren't in the same class as my KEF's, but they are definitely better than most speakers-at $600. I nearly bought a pair until I heard the KEFs which cost twice as much. So, really, I would highly recommend the NHT 1.5's to the above average listener on a budget. |

For christmas my wife wanted to buy me a home theatre package. As always she lets me in on what she want's to get and lets me pick out what I wan't. It took me all of 10 seconds to decide what I wanted after I had heard these speakers at a friends house who deals in NHT speakers. I immediatly bought 4 NHT 1.5's and placed them around the room, bought a powered sub and placed them all behind a Harmon Kardon avr20. The sound when I play movies is incredible. Half the time you feel like your actually in a movie theater listening to a state of the art sound system. I love them, and would allways recommend NHT speakers. |

Bought a pair of these wonderful speakers last September. Had them over 4 months now and they just get better each day. Have them hooked on to a tube amp for music and the clarity is astonishing but very revealing. Went through my CD collection and discovered that some of the CDs I thought were quite good actually have defects. Also have them connected to my HT setup with a Yamaha 3090. Again, the clarity and detail resolved is close to perfection. Match them to an AudioCenter-1 and you'll have crystal clear dialogue. Matching NHT rear surrounds are recommended, SuperZero or SuperOnes. Perfect setup for an apartment.Enjoy! |

I just listened to these bookshelf speakers and was impressed by the clarity of the sound and the depth of the bass. I could have listened to these speaker all day (without a subwoofer)! They were connected to a Cambridge A1MK3SE integrated amplifier that's rated at just 40 watts, and at only a quarter turn, the sound filled the room. The 1.5s are much more efficient than other NHT speakers. I'm comparing the 1.5 with the SuperTwos and the Paradigm Reference 20s |

Great sounding for mid volume level system. I have my Harmon Kardon as a receiver and Denon as the CD-player to pump Jazz music into these book shelf size speakers. They produce wonders. Excellent staging and imaging at mid range. The only problem is weak on the bass production. If you want to use them for home theatre, better add a sub woofer. Overall I give it a 4.5 star. |

Strength:
Incredible soundstage, detail, and accuracy for the price range. This is a very well built speaker and a pleasure to listen to. Drivers are very high quality, as is the 5-way binding posts (all metal, gold plating). The finish is a very nice black piano lacqure. This speaker has very easy set-up and is not as affected by room boundaries as many of its competitors.
Weakness:
Needs a sub for very low bass. Also needs a very good break-in period of at least 48 hours (sounds 'edgy' at first, but break-in takes care of this). Just play a break-in CD or any 'full range' music for the full time. The NHT 1.5's are an excellent speaker in the $600.00 price range that are hard to beat in accuracy, speed, detail, and imaging (incredible soundstage). They are ideal for stereo music listening and for the home theater. They blend well with the Audiocenter one for a center channel, which is not needed if viewers are in between the R-L speakers (in phantom mode) since it's soundstage reaches outside speaker boundaries. Very well recomended! Similar Products Used: Celestion, Mission, JBL, and B$W, all same type of monitor in price range. |
