Strength:

natural sound, asthetics, price

Weakness:

none

I have these speakers set up for home theater. They sound great for the money spent and they really shine when listening to 2 channel music. The highs, mids and bass are exceptional considering the price point of these speakers. Some on this forum say the Super Two's are weak on bass. They must have a weak link in their system cause mine have plenty of bass for my listening enjoyment. I'm pushing only 55 watts per channel from my receiver and this pair respond extremely well. They may not shake the walls in HT but thats the job of a quality subwoofer. If you're looking for a quality tower, look no further. The Super Two's are a unique speaker and well worth checking out. They hold their own on ratings.

I would like to start a thread on this product to get some dialogue going on it. I have listened to it in the stores and found the is speaker to be a high quality floor standing unit with good bass extension for the money. I currently have a pair of Super Ones which are being driven by a Pioneer Elite VSX-07 and consider purchasing one more Super One and a pair of these Super Twos to round a cost effective 5.1 setup. If anyone has this setup or has done some serious listening to the Super Two, let's here your thoughts!I'll give the Super Two a four to get the ball rolling.

Side note:Amid all the hype about the Super One, here are some simple statements of experience: When I play music and movies (Pro Logic) through these speakers I can hear things I can't hear with other modestly priced packages. I enjoy (imagine that!) watching and listening to every single type of listening material in my collection (DVD, CD, PC gaming, tuner, etc.). For $375 retail, a 21-year old college student like me canNOT go wrong with these speakers (nor can a devout audiophile). Period.

Strength:

Good imaging, looks

Weakness:

Power hungry

In my first adventure into home theater, I heard
a lot about the NHTs. I listened to them at 6th Ave.
and they blew me away. I picked some up at an online
auction and hooked them up to my low end Onkyo DD
receiver. Doh, I heard about the power requirements.
55w/ch on the receiver is not enough. I would step
up to 75w+. Anyway, I'm looking to pick up another
amp now.

These speakers have excellent imaging. None of this
indiscrete sounds that my friends' sony system puts
out.

I got these hooked up to a computer DVD/home
theater setup, that could potentially sound good
with some more power AND a ghetto computer out
for my mp3. MP3 sound like crap on these speakers
because they are unforgiving.

I learned my lesson. If you don't have the kahones,
get some infinities.

detail, build quality, gorgeous looks.

Just received the supertwo's a couple days ago...so far I'm very satisfied with the speakers...It hasn't reached the break in point yet...but the sound so far is very nice...the nice piano shine makes these speakers look very expensive...I totally recommend these speakers for a new entry level setup...you won't be dissapointed...especially for $499...you really can't go wrong...

Strength:

Excelent bass, trebble, and clearity. I like the deep rumbles:)

Weakness:

They are for experienced users, not unexperienced teens. They also have to flat of sound!

They are over all good but I would NOT recommend them to teenagers. Other then that, they are a good buy if you like speanding over 1/2 grand on speakers:) I was also supprised with the 6.5" subwoofer and how much bass they have. They sound like they have big 10" woofers in them. (These woof it up with the BASS:)

Strength:

clean sound good imaging and sound stage for the price

Weakness:

need to take more power

I have used these speakers for about two years. First was with a small JVC amp @30 w/ch and they were fine. Then a few months later I added a NAD218 (225 w/ch) and realized that the Super Two's really need some power behind them. With a good tight recording they are supurb (especially rock, although the amp may be contributing here) Anyway, I knew that I had to watch the volume 'cuz the NHT's are good to 175. Well, two weeks ago I push them too hard (Supernatural, cut 3) but the hung in there really well, which is why I didn't turn the volume to a more reasonable level. Then I noticed that sick, cooking electronics smell (there was no distortion in the sound) and found the smell comming from the mid-range drivers. Woops. Well, after that they sounded really weak in the midrange (go figure) but undamaged on the top and bottom ends. I unscrewed the driver on one side and unhooked it (real easy) The next day I got a guy at NHT on the phone. I told him what I did. I don't think that I am the first. "Yeah, our speakers are really robust". No kidding. Anyway, $57 each and 4 days later the new drivers are in a box at the door and 15 minutes later.... yeah, music again.

Good support from the company

Strength:

look fantastic, sound is detailed and accurate

Weakness:

none

NHT stopped making these, opting for a more expenive (read profittable) line of home theatre speakers- the ST-4's replaced the Supertwo's. But guess what folks- these speakers can still be found on the internet. After a little hunting and research, I got mine for $499 from reliableaudiovideo.com. This is the same price that Crutchfield sold them for as a close out. These are highly acclaimed speakers (as you can tell by the reviews on this site!) lauded by magazine reviews and listeners alike. I bought these without ever hearing them have been truly delighted by their sound. If you think you can delve into the high end speaker world for less than 500 bucks, go for it. But at this price you will be hard-pressed to find a better full range (35-20000hz) speaker that is more detailed, smooth, refined, with better soundstaging and imaging than these beauties. But be warned- it is sinful to connect these to a cheap, mass-market receiver. Give them good clean power (separates if possible) and you will be rewarded.

My system:
Denon DCM-370 CD player
NAD 302 integrated amp (using it as preamp)
NAD 314 power amp
Audioquest interconnects
Kimber 4VS speaker cable
