Strength:
Loud deep bass, full mids and excellent highs for a horn tweeter(not harsh). Very flat range. No "deep- V" sound like the sub woofer and satelite configuration that is becoming more popular today(loud bass, loud highs ,no or very little midtones)
Weakness:
none The Optimus GX 1600 is an exelent speaker for the price. They were going for $149 + tx($cad) and I thought that was for the pair, but $149 each is still a good deal. They are very nice for home theatre and great for music. My friend noted that it felt like he was in the movie theatre even though I have a 13 inch tv. I have heard Bose speakers that don't sound even as good as these. Some of the bose speakers that I have heard sound too bright and go distorted at high levels. The only thing I don't like is the magnet size of the woofer. It has a 23(4 1/4" x 2") ounce magnet, with an extended pole piece. But they aren't subwoofers so I guess that's a fair size magnet. |

Strength:
They are loud!!
Weakness:
hmm, overall sound quility could be a bit better. If you want a loud speaker then this is your chioce. But if you want a little bit more refined music then look somewhere else. Lucky for me i just want loud. |

Strength:
price for the size of the speaker, and it makes a great back pair of speakers for your home theater system!
Weakness:
I expected more watts of power from a speaker that size! And it can be a problem to neighbores when it gets too loud at night! I think these are great speakers with nice deep bass from the 15 inch woofer and nice highs from the 4 inch mid. and horn tweeter. I also think the price is great for what your getting! |

Big speaker, big box, big sound. No imagery or detail however. More bang for the buck from RatShack; actually, I believe they're made by Sony or Pioneer. |

Weakness:
Very Big I bought these speakers about a year ago. They were the greatest thing since sliced bread. The bass was the most amazing thing. I really wanted to see what they really had. To do this i downloaded some professional audio tracks used in car audio competitions. Well, the bass was amazing, but after a coupld days of playing this cd i made i went into my room and smelled burt circuits. The woofers overheated and just smell horrible. I'm running a 100W channel into each of the speakers that are 150 RMS. They are out getting repaired now. All i can say is don't play those incredible bass tracks for long. I am the same Marc who posted one of the reviews down the page. I just wanted to make a few suggestions to any people who are considering buying these speakers. First of all, my speakers are on stands(32" high) so the bass doesn't radiate as well- the bass sounds way better when they are on the floor since they are "floorstanding speakers". Try and look for the ones that have the ports in the front because there are the older models that have two in the back. they don't move much(1/2" max)but they have tons of room to move(1 1/2" xmax both ways) |
