They were giving these away for 60 dollars a pair so what the heck, i'll play with em and give to the kid, and thats what I did. They have good image width, zero depth!
They are very colored, honky, they are not high end speakers!
I got them to blend in well with my Sunfire Subwoofer, and the combo played pretty loud, and I had fun with them!
I liked em better overall than the small lx-5!
Now my kid has em, THank GOD he dont live with me!
He had a pair of PSB alphas, but snoop doggy dogg, and Easy E took care of those woofers, and Mettalica got the tweeters!
So my kid comes over and says,"Thanks DAD for the radio shack speakers!"
"BUT dad, Dont you think the PSB'S sounded better?"
MY GOD!!! MY boy can hear!
Not reccommended

This speaker is has the monopole version of the Linaeum tweeter paired with a 7" poly woofer. I'm surprised how really good this speaker sounds. For 140 bucks a pair you get a smooth upfront lively musical presentation. While they don't have the finesse of my PSB stratus mini's there really fine for a small living room or bedroom. They play loud without strain and image well laterally and front to back. Radio Shack still may have 'em. Really, I don't get why they're clearing them out cause they really don't sound like budget speakers.

I got them on sale, too. They are ok for the money. The reason for the clearance is that consumer report mag did not rate them so hot for the original price.

Strength:

wonderfull Room filling bass with crisp undirectional highs.

Weakness:

poor enclosure craftsmanship i.e. partical board vinyl finish

I would have to say that for the size the sound great!
The are a good match for my Pro CS3 center channel speaker and the Optimus XTS-10 Swivel rear channel speakers I use with my NAD 711 Prologic Receiver. The thing that really suprised me is the clean sound even at high volume. Plenty of Bass for me (look Ma no Sub). If your broke after buying $2300.00 worth of NAD Stuff or are just on a budget for buying speakers but you don't want to loose sound quality try a set of PRO LX7 Speakers and you hear what I'm talking about.

Picked these up about a month ago for $45 a speaker. Really getting excellent sound. Solid bass (all you need with a sub) and excellent high and midranges without sounding bright. Only complaint is the the rather flimsy plastic grill assemblies. At high volume, my grills rattle audibly. I am working on putting together replacements. I'll give 'em 4.
