The LX10 is without a doubt the best speaker you can throw your shoes at.I turned up my Aiwa Minisystem as loud is at could go and the cows started
mooing and spewing milk all over the place. That is because cobras know that
the Radio Shack is the store where you can get those roach clips that
people use for cigarrettes. Anyway, enought rambling, buy these bad dudes
because you will get more meat.

Here's what I've got for my HT system: Sony DA80ES receiver, Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player, Sunfire subwoofer, four Optimus LX-10 speakers for fronts and surrounds, Optimus CS-5 center channel. I'm sold on the choice to have matching surrounds for a dolby digital system. More movies are sending alot of sound to the rears and you need something that can match the fronts. I couldn't find a more economical way to do this than by going with the LX-10s. The Linaeum tweeter is awsome! They create incredible imaging for 5.1 channel movies. I'm not too thrilled with the slight boxy sound that they make across the lower midrange spectrum, but what do you expect for the price? I'm not complaining because NOTHING beats it on the quality/price ratio. I only paid $949. That's just a little more than ONE B&W CDM-7SE speaker! I'd still need to spend another $3,500 to complete the same setup with the B&Ws. I think that I am going to go with separates with the money that I saved. I want to get a Rotel-985 5-channel amp and their new DD/DTS preamp (whenever they decide to put it out). I believe that improving the sound before it gets to the speakers will give me an awesome system for HT. I've even thought of going all out for a preamp by getting the Lexicon DC-1 and adding another pair of LX-10s to take advantage of the 7.1 mode. What do you think?I'd give the LX-10s a 3.5 for quality and a 5 for value. I think that most audiophiles now know about the LX-10s and would agree on its value. However, the total quality aside from the tweeter is still outclassed by many. My suggestion to RadioShack would be to pat themselves on the back for this speaker and take it to the next level. Improve the box and go with better quality midrange/lower midrange. Sell them for $349 each ($400 for the dummies that don't understand that all you have to do is wait a few weeks for a sale) and watch them go out the door!

Bought 4 LX-10's a little while ago and they sound pretty good. First bought the LX-5's for surround speakers but after a lot of shopping around for front speakers, could not
find another pair of speakers that had such imaging, especially for that price. I ended
up returning the LX-5's and placed LX-10's all around. Bought the last four in Vancouver
for $520 CDN or around $350 US. I think the speaker is more home theater oriented than
music. The mid-range can also use improvement. Currently running it from a Kenwood KR-X1000.
Overall, quite happy with this speaker. Also wanted to purchase a CS-5 center channel to
match but no radio shack carries it in Vancouver. But may be unnecessary as other commented
on it for not tonally matching the LX-10's. These speakers are discontinued but I would tell
anyone in the market for speakers to go out and search for the last few pairs sitting around.
Although Radio Shack is not much of an audio store, they do have decent customer service as
they found my 4 LX-10's in 3 different stores and shipped them to the closest store to me.

I have had my Pro LX10's for about a year now and good not be happier with them.I modified them by lining the inside of the box with 1" think fiber glass after I went around ALL joints with silicone. I am still working on a good X-over for them, but by sealing the box and lining it with fiberglass not only made the bass tighter, but also adds ALOT of midrange that was not there before. I also did a bit of placement tests and determined that they sound best 1 foot from any side wall (or my entertainment center) and and 3 feet from the back wall. I am running my setup on a Yamaha RX-V793 and have a Pro CS-5 Center Channel (with the same mods) and also a set of Pro LX-5's for the rear. DVD's and Laser Discs are incredible......But it also helps to have a good sub to add to the bass!

I'm not sure but I think I got a Deal here. I've read a few reviews of this speaker here and on the net and took a chance figuring the shack has a 30 day return. They also had them on sale for $149.95 each. So far I'm impressed from my limited listening. Playing these alone on my STR925 they are clean enough with decent low end and really clean highs. Mid's might be a bit muddy but not bad. Now with my Energy Xls 8 they rock. For the $$$ not bad at all. Now I might even try some closeouts on the original LX5's or Some Superzero's for my surrounds!

Well, I wanted an inexpensive pair of speakers for my second system, so I gave the LX-10's a try. The radio shack near me told me to just take them home and try them for thirty days since I was not happy with their setup.
Initially I was extremely disappointed with the speaker. The highs were great, but the colored mid-range and boommy low-end made me cringe.

Like some other reviewers I tried tweaking with the speaker. Hooking it up to a spectrum analyzer showed a huge spike in the 100-200 Hz range. Disconnecting the bottom woofer alleviated the problem. The analyzer showed it was now flat down to 100 Hz. This immediately cleared up the mid-range and brought out alot more detail. However the speaker was missing out on the low end frequencies. I went to a speaker store and bought $10 worth of cotton filler and completely stuffed the cabinets and reconnected the woofer.

BINGO!!! Apparently the cabinet is not large enough for the two drivers, but the stuffing fixed it. High and mid dynamics are excellent with good detail. Low-end is merely average with sub-average dynamics. But at least the annoying boominess was no longer there.

As long as you don't listen to a lot of thrashy hard hard hard rock, this speaker is probably the best you'll find for under $300 ( once you fix them ;-).

Radio Shack (in lower Manhattan) 49 bucks (last pair of closeouts LX10s).Hooked up to Onkyo Integra A9711 amp (amp has midrange knob, freq. range switch, stereo/mono switch - listening room has wood paneling - no need to redesign the American made Yugo of speakers! Original Monster cables. Matched with 2year old LX5s. Currently on the prowl, waiting for the next unsuspecting radio shack to let them go at a $49 steal!

I bought the LX-10's this last weekend. I had RS do a search on the local stores and found a "brand new" pair of them in the boxes. I paid $149 per speaker, but thats truly a steal! I already have the LX-5's and now they have just been downgraded to rear surrounds. The LX-10's and the Lineaum tweeter are incredible. They match up well with my CS-5 center chan speaker. The entire system has the Lineum tweeters and I guarantee that YOU WILL HAVE A HARD TIME Finding something that can out perform them! The LX-10's are 50-25k hz and they really match up well.

I just purchased a pair of PRO LX-10's and am VERY pleased with their performance..The sound is beautiful and they are desighned very well. They produce a boominess in bass response, however, and after reviewing dampening techniques putting a piece of insulation inside will correct this problem. The speakers were the last ones on the shelf for $99 each, and luckily, I now have them in my front room to enjoy everyday, for Home Theater use or just listening to music. The CS-5 center speaker works very well with them also, however, it's a bit large, and is probably meant for a Big screen TV .The highs are extremeley crystal clear and crisp, and the bass is very rich, and deep. But,too achieve those 'Rock Bottom' lows's,combine a sub-woofer in this package,(powered with an amplifier). The unique quality of all these speakers is unreal,at this low price. Its something you'd expect from a much more expensive speaker company. Hurry up and buy 'em cause they are all almost gone,(discontinued). It's your last chance pal!.You also get a Five year warranty with these baby's.I am excited about these speakers, and am very pleased with their overall performance, and value.

I bought a pair of these based pretty much on the reviews I read here. I got the last pair in what seemed like the entire Bay Area. 99 bucks apiece. I have to admit that this is probably the best spent 200 bucks I've ever spent. They're replacing some "critically acclaimed" Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IIIs. Although I don't know enough to go into detail about the high's, lows and mids of these speakers, I do know that they sound MUCH better than the speakers they're replacing. And for less than you can find decent bookshelf speakers. I am planning to buy the CS-5 Center channer speaker to go along with these and move my Ensembles to my rears (will that work???). If you are lucky enough to fine a pair of these still around, I urge you to at least give them a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
