Strength:
Awesome sound for the size. Good overall dispersion. Full midrange to high.
Weakness:
NO REMOVABLE GRILLS!!!. Having had a pair of Titans as Main speakers for over two years it was time to upgrade my surround system. I listened to many brands but kept comming back to the Atoms. The dispersion of sound was pleasing to the ears and over all tonal quality was solid. I found the Lows to be a little flat but you have to consider the size of the mid-drivers. Adding a PDR-10 really helps!. As the Atoms are in the same group as the Titans matching sound was great. Similar Products Used: Teac |

NONE FOR THE SIZE. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A WOMAN WHO'S REAL SIZE IS 12 AND SHE WEARS SIZE 8 CLOTHING? YES, WE ALL KNOW WHAT KIND OF SIGHT THAT IS! WELL, THE SAME GOES FOR SPEAKERS. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE RATIO OF THE ROOM SIZE. ANOTHER ANALOGY IS THE GUY WHO HAS A 12 X 12 ROOM WITH A 70" PROJECTION TV. BACK TO THE ATOMS, I HAVE A 34" TOSHIBA HDTV AND VIEWING DISTANTS IS ABOUT 8 FEET AND THE ROOM SIZE IS AROUND 15 X 15. THESE ATOMS FILLS THE ROOM LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE. THE HIGHS AND MIDS ARE TEXTBOOK. GREAT FOR FRONTS AND/OR REARS FOR A SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM. PARADIGM ATOMS ARE THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK OUT THERE. IF YOU DON'T NEED TO IMPRESS ANYONE WITH A 70" TV AND TOWERING MAINS THEN DROP EVERYTHING AND GO OUT AND GRAB A PAIR. Similar Products Used: JBL |

Strength:
For such a small speaker they possess fanatastic bass, clarity and cleaness of sound. Hope to complete the system with a cc-170 centre and a Denon 2803
Weakness:
none as yet As with my review for the Titans - price was the big reason for the buy($449aud).The atoms are used as rear speakers and they definitly compliment the titans.I would recommend anyone to purchase Paradigm speakers. Similar Products Used: cheap little sonys |

Strength:
Canadian Manufacturer-good warranty
Weakness:
Build Quality - Poor workmanship on mitered corners. Sound Quality - Cabinet resonances/unwanted sound coloration very noticable and distracting Front grilles can not be removed :-( I had high hopes for these speakers reading all the positive reviews so I picked up a pair and compared them with 2 other speaker brands and they finished in last place. The sound quality was harsh and unnatural with a noticeable coloration from some cabinet resonance and perhaps marginal design. This was still true after 40 to 50 hrs of break-in. As main bookcase speakers I found other brand names much better sounding for the money. These speakers might pass as HT rear surrounds if needing to match to other Paradigm components, but not for critical listening as mains. Similar Products Used: Boston Acoustics CR65 Mission M70 |

Needs a subwoofer added to excel and bring out the fantastic midrange. Wow! I recently purchased new speakers for my Surround System. I got Paradigm's new Esprit v3's as my fronts and the Atoms as my rear speakers, powered by a Harman Kardon AVR125 surround receiver. Well, the Atoms were in stock and I had to wait about a week for the Esprit's to come in. Being the impatient person I am, I took the Atoms home and hooked them up as front speakers for some cd listening. I was thoroughly blown away. These are the best speakers I've ever owned. It's a shame that soon they'll be relegated to duty as rears soon. Similar Products Used: Paradigm CC170 center. Paradigm 10" Subwoofer. |

Strength:
Very good midrange detail and unstrained higher freaks.
Weakness:
Lack of deeper bass, unremovable front grill, pushbutton speaker terminals I practically stole these for a few dollars. A lady had them in her kitchen for several years. I cleaned the grease off of them and hooked them up to my Hafler amp and Nakamichi pre-amp. I could hardly believe the clarity of the music these mighty Atoms put out. The same day we had guests over and everyone agreed the music sounded more revealing and pleasant over the old and pricey Watson Lab speakers I've had for the past 20 years on most music. My wife started to listen to a lot more music since she found them nicer to listen too. Sadly after a month, the wife fried the tweeters on them by cranking them up, so I got new tweeters and started to use them as rear spkrs for my new 5.1 channel setup. I eventually found second hand Paradigm monitor 7's and 5se's as well. Picked up a new D-Box Sub, and moved an Atom to center channel for now. Strength:
Everything...especially imaging, clarity, range and bass. Although not shielded, I have the center channel sitting about 3 inches under my 32" TV. Mains are 18" to the sides, in line with the center. No ill effects are notices.
Weakness:
Nada! Pardigm Atom V.3: I recently inherited 5 of these speakers when I upgraded my entire home theater system to digital (from Pro Logic). Originally I thought they would hold me over until we could afford to build off my Energy center speaker. I was using two Atoms as surrounds on my old Sony Pro Logic system and wasn't impressed at all. What a difference digital makes! The Energy center is now collecting dust in the garage. Using Atoms as mains, surrounds and center channel has convinced me to save my money. They have incrediable tonal balance and sound quality. Imaging, range and bass are fantastic in my medium sized family room. Even with my cheapo KLH sub (another freebie), Matrix and Top Gun sound as great as in a theater. Better since I hate theaters anyway. Even my wife, who was pissed I wanted to replace a "perfectly good receiver", begrudgingly grins when the sound starts bouncing around the room. The Atoms are also fine with music. I listen to classical, new age and "fossil rock" as my kids call it. I turn off the sub since the Paradigms have more than adequate bass. It just muddles the sound anyway. For those who complain about the stands and non removable grills...I have the surrounds on universal stands. One screw mount and they look fine. Non removable grills are a non issue. Like they degrade the sound or something? Or do you just want to show off your cones? For parents, this is a feature, not a detriment. Articulate, best value for the money

Non removeable grille Bought four for a second surround sound system. I was immediately impressed with their openess, soundstage, and reasonalbe bass for a box this size. An incredible value, and Stereophile recommended Similar Products Used: Auditioned Monitor Audio, Tannoy, Acoustic Energy, JM Lab. (I ended up buying a pair of JM Lab Chorus 705's as well as I was impressed with their openess and detail) |

I'm very impressed with the sound quality of the Atoms, considering their size and cost. I use them as surrounds [for movies only] with Paradigm Studio 100v2 mains. They're strong and clean, and blend well. Similar Products Used: They replaced Paradigm LCR350s |

Price and sounds great with the Paradigm Titans
Weakness:
If there is one, the stands are $70 a pair, but at least it's made out of real wood. I looked at alot of surround speakers and for the price, I don't think you can beat it. I think these speakers are better for surround then mains. My set up Receiver: Yamaha RX-v630 Mains: Paradigm Titans Rears: Paradigm Atom Center Paradigm CC 170 Sub: Phase Tech Power 8 |
