Strength:

Price, surprising deep, full sound.

Weakness:

Very deep cabinet - provides good bass, but limits it to stands. Narrow sound stage.

My speaker shopping was a long, difficult search. Being relatively new to home stereo, every speaker made was a possible candidate, but at least I had no prejudices.

When I first heard the Mini's, I almost laughed because I didn't think such small speakers were capable of such sound. They aren't warm, like European speakers, but they still sound full, tight, clean with a surprisingly wide freq. range. They do have a narrow sound stage however. Paradigm's can be bright, but the Mini's don't suffer from this. I am using these as my fronts until my shielded M5's come in, but would be satisfied leaving them as fronts.

p.s. I had to hear this "break-in" thing about speakers myself. It's true! It was sudden and obvious. Use a CD that has good bass and listen to it every couple of days. You'll hear the difference!

Strength:

Value. The sound quality is very good. They seem to come out and surprise me here and there with sounds that I have never heard. For DVD movies, amazing.

Weakness:

You get what you pay for. if you want tremendous theatre sound...you need to go bigger i.e. monitor 7 or 9
anyone could tell you that

If you do not want to spend over $300 for a pair of main speakers, put these on your list. You usually have to listen to a speaker to be sold on it. They seem to be very position sensitive. You may have to place them here and there before finding the desired sweet spot. I wouldn't spend anymore on a bookshelf speaker, they are plenty.

I am using an Onkyo TX-DS 676 receiver.

This are great speakers. I just purchased these about a week ago. I originally purchased some polr RT35i's about a month ago, but after reading some reviews here and listening to them in a store I decided to try the Mini Monitors. I compared them side by side to the polks and the Minis were much better sounding. While both speakers sounded good at lower volumes the Minis really were far superior at higher volumes. I'm using these as fronts to my new home theater system. They sound equally great with music as well as DVD and tv. They have great bass for a small speaker and very detailed mids and highs. I really love these things. I now have them paired with a Paradigm CC-370 Center(excellent speaker as well!!) and RT25i's for my rears. I would highly recommend Paradigm. Needless to say the polks went back.

performance, quality, build, look, price, etc.

Weakness:

there is none. try to find a fault with these speakers and you will discover that you can't.

I just recently replaced the amazing ATOMS with these mini-monitors. As good as the atoms are,(and they fully deserve the rave reviews they get)...they are no MINI-MONITOR!!!
These speakers are truly remarkable! For movies the atoms were more than adequate, however, I was looking for a bigger speaker for music. I looked at the TITAN but I figured if I'm upgrading I should look at the MINI. I took a listen and bought them on the spot. I love these speakers!
They sound incredible! The clarity and punch is amazing for a speaker this size. They handle alot of power and do it well!(paradigm rates the power rating of all their speakers very conservativly) The build is very solid, they are almost as heavy as concrete blocks! They are a beautiful speaker from top to bottom. Listening to music on these is a great experience. They are flawless! Watching movies is equally impressive! Every little detail is revealed in dynamic fashion, with authority!!! I strongly recommend these speakers to anyone, as I would buy them again in a heartbeat!!

Strength:

Great speaker for the money

Weakness:

None for this price and application

This is an excellent speaker for all types of music. I am using them in my bedroom just to listen to CDs. They produce clean, tight bass. Vocals are clear. Separation is very good for a small speaker. They are heavy for their size which reduces vibration and distortion. I looked all over for another speaker in anywhere near this price (200 - 600 dollars) and could not find one that even came close. Paradigm has made another great bookshelf speaker. I do recommend anyone looking at the other bookshelf speakers like the Paradigm titans to pony up the extra 75 to 100 bucks. It is well worth it.

Strength:

Well built, affordable. well suited to music and HT.

Weakness:

I recently upgraded my receiver from Technics to Denon 1801 and my speakers from Titan's to the Mini's. I used the Titan's on the rear channels now where they are better suited. The difference I noticed btw. the MM and Titan are that the MM is much heavier and better constructed. Unfortunately, my main speakers are in a wall unit and when I would crank up the volume the Titan's would vibrate a lot. The MM barely vibrate due to the bigger volume and better construction. This translates into a tighter bottom end and more neutral sound.
THE combination of the Technics SA-X6 and Titan's meant that for two years I could barely enjoy a CD on my system, I attribute most of that to the Technics. Don't get me wrong the Technics was OK at mid volumes but with increased volume it fell apart and it ran so hot you could fry an egg on top of the sucker. This speaker is affordable and well built and versatile. Add a Paradigm sub and your in business.

Strength:

Great sound, exceptional value, nice soundstage, compact without losing range

Weakness:

Only 80W recommended

Before I begin, let it be known that I am not greatly concerned with HT and simply look at a speaker's ability to reproduce great sounding music.

I was amazed with these little speakers. I heard a demo of the Studio 20s a couple of months back and decided I wanted a pair. That is until I heard these babies. They are nearly $300 cheaper and no significant difference in sound quality can be heard as you again realize $300 CHEAPER! Sure, you can nitpick, and there is no doubt that the Studio 20 is a higher quality speaker, however with the addition of a subwoofer, very little difference can be heard. You still have a great sounding system when it's all said and done. If you're looking for a bookshelf that doesn't need that extra subwoofer, you should probably go ahead and get the 20s. BUT, if you want a great sounding speaker that you plan on pairing up with a subwoofer, than snatch up a Mini or a Monitor 3 and pocket the rest of your money or put it towards the sub. These speakers really are a steal. I am thoroughly impressed with Paradigm and plan on purchasing my first set as soon as possible. I give these a 5 star value rating and a 3 star overall. Afterall, I'm not stupid enough to deny better speakers are out there. Just not at this price. Happy listening.

Strength:

best bang for the buck, small footprint, large soundstage.

Weakness:

hugh?

had a goal and a budget. assemble a good 2 channel and HT system for $2000.00. after months of research (on this site and the web and local retailers) i decided on paradigm mini monitors for mains, pdr-10 for sub, cc370 for center, and adp-70 for rears. i also purchased a refurb onkyo 676 receiver and a refurb onkyo dv501 cd/dvd player to put me at $2020.00 including all tax and shipping.
RESULTS:
for the money ... the mini's can't be beat. i wanted to spend more and buy the ref 20's but they could not contend with the mini's + the sub for the same $$$. i have yet to play a movie so all the listining i have done so far is 2-channel stereo. high quality product for a low cost. great high's but not too bright and excellent midrange makes for many untiring hours of playback enjoyment.

Strength:

Price, Value, Audiophile sound, Imaging and everything else.

Weakness:

My bedroom is 12x12 feet and in need of a small speakers. So, I went out and auditioned several speakers such as: Klipsch, B&W, and Paradigm. When I was auditioning them, The Paradigm stood out the most for their natural sounds, price and imaging. The Klipsch horn made my ear go crazy and the B&W is way over priced compared to Paradigm.

At first, I would never imagine the size of these small speakers would produce such an amazing sound, but it sure fooled me. These speakers sound twice as much as it worth and I’m glad I bought them. Pound for pound you cannot find any speakers that come close to the Mini Monitor price wise.
