none Highly recommend these speakers to anybody for music or home theater. I listened to B&W and Difinitive Teck before I bought these, and it will cost you $2500 to even come close to what these things can do. I owned a pair of Sound Dynamics before these and there is no comparing the two. I power the speakers with a Denon AVR-2801, also a great amp for the price. I auditioned a Rotel 2 channel amp to go with these speakers at some point in the future and it makes the Monitors sound even better. It's amazing what 130 high current watts will do. Strength:
Pefect clarity even at high volumes. Warm smooth sound. Tight accurate midbass and bass. Awesome soundfield. Solid build quality and wonderful to look at.
Weakness:
the 3 bass drivers are 6.5 inches, this is great for everything except the low bass notes. But being that this is only a 2.5 way speaker you will probably want to add a sub anyway depending on what you listen to and whether you have neighbors or not...I use the pw-2200--PERFECT. This is an early review, a more detailed one will follow. Overall, I love them. The bass output will probably be plenty for most just by turning the bass up a notch or two. I will keep you posted. Strength:
Very smooth highs, as well as punchy mid-bass. The vocal's range is excellent
Weakness:
notta-one I work at an electronics store which carries many different home audio brands, but these just didn't have 100% of what my taste was so I turned to my neighbor who owns an electronic store near me and had him demo different paradigm models for me. I was very pleased with these speakers even before the break in period, (which I liked even more once they were broken in). I listen to anything from Jazz to Rap and R/B, these speakers do it all, without any hesitation or distortion. Similar Products Used: Polk Audio RT1000, RT800. B&W. |

Incredible sound. Crystal clear
Weakness:
None found so far I have heard Cerwin Vegas that get louder but the distortion on them is horrible. These Monitor 11 v2 are awesome. Even at extreme volume they are crystal clear. The sound is like being there in the action. I also have the PW-2200 and while watching Saving Private Ryan you feel like you are on Omaha Beach at D-Day when they come ashore. Strength:
Clarity, transparancy, detail, accuracy, and imaging. Soundstage is huge and lower bass is full, tight and defined. A very dynamic speaker with a lush top end and a smooth mid range. Build qaulity is excellent and the drivers/x-overs are all designed and built by Paradigm as always. Price vs. performance ratio is incredible!
Weakness:
No real wood veneer but the qaulity drivers, internal bracing and overall build qaulity makes up for it! I wouldn't call this a weakness, but I must say - since it is such a neutral speaker with a metal tweeter... bright electronics may cause them to sound bright to some listeners. My first decent speaker was the MA Silver 5i. I liked them at first, but after a while... they became too bright for me and seemed to fall apart at higher volumes. I then upgraded to the MA Silver 9i. The 9i was much better than the 5 in every way, but the tweeter was the same as the 5 and I couldn't live with the brightness and sibilance problems. I then thought for sure that I would NEVER go back to a metal tweeter. So I brought home a pair of Meadowlark Kestrals. The Kestrals were very nice... well balanced, smooth, detailed - but they didn't play loud enough for my taste. So I settled on a pair of M&K S-125 satellites because of their warm, laid back nature and excellent imaging ability. They were also very dynamic for a satellite speaker. But after a couple months, the S-125's became too uninvolving, and I noticed that the music wasn't extending much beyond the speaker. They had a detailed top end, but it wasn't as smooth and refined as I was looking for. They also muffled certain instruments and subtle details that the MA's were able to reproduce. Finally, I realized that the S-125's weren't doing it for me either so I sold them like the rest of my previous speakers.
