I had recently purchased a Paradigm PW2200 subwoofer for my existing Definitive Tech system but was looking for large fronts for more umphh. I found these on craigslist locally and was ready to pay $200 for the pair, but the seller called me on my way over to buy them and told me that they stopped working (the powered amps were supposedly blown out). He offered to give me them for free if I'd pick them up and I figured, "why not." It was well worth my 15 minute drive because when i got home i plugged them in and they worked perfectly! I contacted Paradigm tech support and got the manuals and found the CC350 Center channel to match the set. I really love the whole system as they sound wonderful for both music and movies. They have full sound both low and high frequencies and create a large listening space. My 90wpc Onkyo is bi-amped to them but I would like to give them more power so I may upgrade receiver. All in all, a great value for free, but I would have paid much more! |

Strength:
Bass, clarity, imaging, size.
Weakness:
None at all My brother gave me these speakers as they were sitting in his garage not being used. He said that one of the woofers was blown besides that they were in good shape. So, in to the suv they went - drove them home and I ordered a new woofer (100.00) and they are amazing! I have friends come over and always compliment on the sound. They are truly amazing. These speakers put out amazing bass from two 6.5 woofers. Engineers were awake and focused when they designed these puppies. Would love to find another pair for bedroom. |

Strength:
Strong bass, enough to shake the house. Adjustable bass. Theater use give a full range of sound.
Weakness:
I guess alittle heavy but that's actually good. I've had the P70's for 3 years now. The clarity is amazing. So far 2 friends who have listened to my set bought the next day. I am not sure if they are still in production. The P90's sound good as well but for the price there is nothing that comes close to the P70's. I have the inputs bridged (hi/low). Others have separate hookups with the high dollar cables. Same reciever driving both, I can't hear a difference. The price was $599.99 each Similar Products Used: Advent "Heritige tower" Main speakers. Also great for thie size but lacking the punch of the amped bass. |

Woofers bottom out These speakers are the best sounding powered speakers in their price range that I listened to. I checked out Polk and Definitive Tech (several hundred dollars more) and liked the Paradigm sound the best. The imaging is great! With the speakers positioned properly you would swear the center channel is playing the voices when in fact it is turned off. The highs are crisp and the lows are good as well. Just be cautioned that enen though these speakers are powered, they are in no way a substitute for a good subwoofer for the home theater. For music there is plenty of bass, but if pushed too hard in home theater applications the woofers will bottom out. |

Everything sounds the way it is supposed to!
Weakness:
Very heavy, hard to move around. These speakers are fantastic. I could not believe what I was hearing. I heard the highs the way that they are supposed to be heard. The same for the midrange. The bass is great. I can tell the difference between a snare and tom-tom with ease. I could spend all day listening to these speakers without leaving my living room. These speakers are acurate to a fault it seems. I can now tell if a cd was poorly recorded. I sold a few of those cds. I can not believe that I never heard of these speakers before. But I guess they spend the money on making good speakers and not good ads. I say give them a listen with your favorite cd, you might like them too. |

Strength:
Excells at highs, Powered Subs, Bi-amp able, great over all sound. Oh and comes with nifty little spikes too.
Weakness:
Can not push them loud enough to break a world spl record. Man, I had a set of Bose 701's, had being the key word. I set them back. These speakers sound better, not just a little, way better. I was missing something with the 701's, I could not put my finger on it. I went to listen to some other speakers and really liked what I heard more. For the price I paid for the 701's I got a better speaker. Don't get me wrong now, the 701's are a good speaker I enjoyed them for about 2 weeks. Better sound through research is the Bose motto. In my opinion, Bose needs to keep doing research because they have not gotten it right yet on the 701's. For the price of the 701's I expected more and got less. Listen before you leap. None Excellent Powered Towers! Hard to believe that so much excellent bass comes from 4 6.5"ers. They match perfectly with my CC-350 centre channel and atoms in the rear. Similar Products Used: Cambridge Sound Works, JBL |

Strength:
Superb sound and bass. Excellent for movies. Look good though I got them in black. Clear on voice & Organ
Weakness:
Find imaging not quite there. Bass does bottom out. Prefered the old soft dome tweeters they had before My very first system was a NAD 2025 integrated amp and the Paradigm mini monitors (oak). I was quite impressed with the soundstage of classical music. Very emotional. I decided to upgrade my system to surround sound and DVD, and chose the 70p due to the bass I wanted for movies and my vast collection of Pipe Organ music. I use a NAD 711 receiver and have all Paradigm speakers for surround sound. The 70p's are quite powerful and fill the room with music & movie effects, though I have to say they are not quite musical speakers. I don't get the emotional feel like I used to, and I find the higher frequencys a bit shrill sounding. This could be due to the metal dome tweeter? I'm not sure. As for Organ music these are superb! I can feel the 32ft pipes in the room. I got the speakers for a good price so for value 5*. I think a tube amp would soften these puppies. I listened to several speakers in the $1,000-$2,000 range and have to saythese are the best i have heard at this price($1,100). I even liked them better than the 90P's( The 90P's sounded a little muddy in the midrange, but had more bass). The tone, clarity, and imaging of the high's and mids were great and the bass was extremely tight and well focused. In a larger room you would want and external sub for movies, but for music or movies in a smaller room it's a great pair of speakers. |
