I owned these for about a week before I returned them. I really like the bass and the very accurate timbre in the midrange, but that's all I liked about them. The highs are pretty nasty, and the sound is way too localized around the speakers. I was always very aware of exactly where the speakers were, even when I sat for away from them. If you want a nice, big soundstange, do NOT buy these. |

My previous speakers were Paradigm 3Se's. Listened to the Studio 20s in a store, liked them, took a pair home to test then sold my 3Se's. I love the Studio 20's. The room that I listen to music in is long and narrow. The 20's sound right at home. Surprizeing bottom end for such a small speaker. |

The new Studio20 version2 is an awesome speaker for the money. Then you add the servo15 sub and it gets better. |

Hey Jim What's up? Anyway. I agree with Jim. I think these speakers do sound good. In my opinion the so called 'Harshness' depends severly on what you have them hooked to. I wouldn't be able to give them a completely honest HT review seeing as though I've only listened to Dark City DVD and JP2 LD DTS on them. They did sound great but never have I heard them all the way around, only in the front for both movies. I have listened to some other demos but would find that to hard to compare to others in which I haven't heard the demos on. Music quality is good in my opinion. They offer that sort of breathiness you get with a decent sized speaker because they are able to puch a bit more air. One pair I listened to were Bi-Wired in the store (So the guy told me), I didn't bother to check. Considering the demands of HT in my opinion are much lower then music, I would say these speakers most easily get a 5 in HT, taking into account the value of course. I agree with Jim for once and say and overall value is a 4. Bottom line, if anyone were to buy these speakers for music or HT they would not be dissapointed. The only thing I disagree with is the comparison to Tannoy V-Ports. Seeing as though there is no such thing as a Tannoy V-Port. The Tannoy speaker that have ports shaped like a V are called CHURCHILLs (Named after Winston Churchill I believe), and you can get them for under $14,000! So There! Just kidding of course, I personally like Tannoy's a lot but will stick closer to there M series. |

I really like these speakers. Clear and detailed midrange and treble, adequate low end for most music, strong sense of presence, very good soundstage. An excellent value for the price ($650 list). Note that I bought mine in May of '99 and understand that Paradigm was about to introduce a "new and improved" version (for $750-$850 depending on the finish). |

I auditioned the version 2 of this speaker in a good listening room and was very impressed. This is the kind of speaker that "disapears." You hear the music not the speaker. The high end was not as crisp as a pair of $1,000 JMlab speakers I compared them to, but his was more than made up for by their excellent imaging and nuetrality. The bass is ported out the back, so placement could be an issue. It seemed to me that the speaker was fairly close to the wall in the listening room (less than 2 feet), and the bass sounded natural, and not too boomy. I prefered these to the comparably priced B&W 602s, and thought they were close to the more expensive B&W CDM1SEs. It's tough to say without a direct A/B comparison. I suspect the nuetral sound of these speakers, with slightly recessed high end would not be fatiguing to listen to, even over long periods of time. This is a real front-runner in this price range. |

A super value. Good bass for the size, well balanced revealing sound with little colouration...although as some people have noted it can seem a little bright until it's well burned it. With the wood veneer upgrade it looks fab, but it's a little pricy. |

These are a deal, and we all love a deal. Make sure you get the latest version with the updated styling, which does nothing for the sound but looks much better than the old ones. Also, Paradigm does no mail order, so you should get a deep discount at your dealer. Studio 20s retail for $650.00US, yet the going price is around $550.00 or less. The sound? Very fine. Generous tuneful bass. The highs are a bit bright, though. I run these with a laid-back Rega integrated and love it. But do NOT use in a highly-resolving system or you might get too much of a good thing. The best part is the mids. I detect less coloration on the Paradigm than on my 5 times more expensive psb Goldis. Given the value for money, sound, and good build quality (you can biwire 'em), I don't think you can go wrong with these... |

Just got these used in perfect condition. I own the Studio 80' and these speakers will be used for the rear speakerss in surround mode or 4 channel stereo. I hooked them up for testing to my Aragon 8008BB and listened to them in stereo mode. These speakers sound better than many Tower speakers I heard in the past, cosing in the thousands. They are heavy and very well built. It seems that they cover the full range frequency only giving up in the ultra low end. They sound great and I would be happy using them as front speakers any day. Great Mids with a tight full body bass. Highs are extended and a tiny bright , not as smooth as speakers using liquid dome tweeters but they sound much cleaner and sweater than most speakers I heard. the sound seems to disappear from the speakers and they are heard between the two speakers, you cannot tell where exactly the music is coming from. HUGE soundstage !! I got these speakers for 350$ and even if I had to spend 600$ I would still give them a solid 5. These speakers can outperform speakers costing 3 times as much. |

I've come to the realazation that these speakers must be matched perfectly to your amp and preamp. I've tried 3 different setups. With adcom equipment I hated them, very harsh and bright. I ended up buying a B&K amp and processor (avp2030 and ava5000) This is a great sounding system. Warm with plenty of imaging and soundstage. A great balance. For the money 5 stars, overall 4 |
