I have been listening to my studio 60s for something approaching 20 yrs. I paid 275$ apiece for them way back whenever. I am getting a pair of Monitor 11s in about a week and I can't wait. I power my stuff with a Denon 4200. I also have a Paradigm sub and some Klipsch speakers hooked up. I really like Paradigm.

Transparency, imaging. Outstanding bang for the buck.

Perhaps could use a bit more bass extension. But, then again, why?

60 V.3's. Beautiful, svelte little things. Made to be clothed in black. Two lovely ladies in little black dresses. You can almost smell the perfume. I listened for decades before settling on these.

Been in studios and small venues with real violins and pianos and guitars and astonishing classical and popular artists. Sit back, close your eyes, and you're there with the other drunks in that Philly club with SRV. You're there in the studio with that violinist. All you Easy Music listeners, that's not shrillness that you hear. That's what a REAL violin sounds like up close and personal. It isn't Easy. It's raw and sensual. Nuf said.

* Extremely accurate, powerful tweeters. I wouldn't stand any closer than 20' to these screamers if I had the choice.

* Wonderfully detailed midrange. Makes everything you play sound like silk.

* Punchy and detailed bass response, reaching all the way into the subwoofer range. Unless you have a very nice sub, you're going to muddy the water adding a sub to this system.

* Big sturdy wooden cabinet and quality cones are certainly part of the magic.

* Can support a large 14' square living room at minimum and probably a 20-25' square room (see my note on the tweeters...)

* Let's face it, the Studio 60's have fullrange bass but there isn't a lot of it. These speakers pull out all the stops to get subwoofer performance from measly 6" drivers and ultimately, for dance/rap you're going to want more bass.

* Because of this, the speakers can be overdriven searching for those magic room-filling dance beats. I've pushed these speakers to the limits a number of times in very small rooms. Not that they should be used in small rooms....

But hey, if you want bass get the Studio 100's. They are frighteningly powerful speakers.

* I suspect the crossover is weak because I see the midrange and the bass drivers vibrating similarly when the cone materials are very different. (Admittedly they are the same-size cones though.)

I've had the Studio 60's for a few years now to the point where I'm starting to get bored. However, I still haven't met anyone who owns speakers even remotely close to these. From the standpoint of home theater or studio recording work , the Studio 60's will blow you away. Crisp, rich, bassy, hard to believe.

HT/Studio work: Perfect. Utterly perfect.

Dance/Rap: A little underpowered on the bass.

The paradigm-only dealer let me audition the 20's, 60's, and 100's (his whole stock) plus the cheaper Monitor series. I appreciated this effort because the Monitors sucked, the 20's were accurate but had zero bass, whereas the 60's had the combination of accuracy and deep timbre I was looking for.

I wish I could remember the 100's because they are truly monsters. But they're twice the price. I may stick with Paradigm and upgrade to the 100's to get bigger 8" drivers and that extra kick from 3 woofers per speaker. I really enjoy the detail on the Studio series, these models are very easy on the ears.

I listened to many speakers at this price point, Energy C-9's, Kef Q-7's, Klipsh Reference and a few more.These speakers are the full package. You feel like you are in the room with the entertainer. They have bone crushing punch if your into Metallica or a tremendous sweet spot if you are into Sarah McLachlan. I spent countless hours putting these speakers through the paces and I found that they perfomed exceptionally well. I also listened to a "high end speaker" named Totem they were more than twice the price and they sounded great. They had a nice wood finish but the Studio 60's sounded so close to them that I couldn't justify the extra $1500 for a nice wood finish.

Unbeatable. When I first started looking for some new speakers for the home theatre I was putting in my new home, I laughed when someone mentioned Paradigm. I actually hadn't heard about them at all save for a few ads. They aren't sold at many dealers and you almost have to go looking for Paradigms to end up buying them. Boy was I glad I gave them a chance. I listened to nearly ten sets of speakers aside from these, ALL of which cost at least as much and most of which cost 2-4 times as much. In the end, I had to put vanity aside and listen to my ears. The Paradigm Reference speakers really and truly did sound much better than speakers costing four times as much. In the world of stereo equipment, the law of diminishing returns tells me that I'd have to spend 50-100 times what I did on these speakers to MAYBE dillude myself into thinking I'm hearing better sound. I won't ever buy anything but Paradigm Reference. I could listen to every movie and song on these speakers from now til the day I day and be a content man. Don't take my word for it.

I've had these speakers for a couple of years now. They were an upgrade from the Paradigm 7SeMkIII, which were very nice. I want everyone out there considering these to know that they are they best speakers one could ever hope to find under a few grand. My background in audio sales has allowed me to work with such speaker brands as B&W, NHT, Sound Dynamics, Mission, Boston Acoustics, and many more, and both in the showroom and in customers' homes. I can honestly say that these Paradigm Reference speakers are one of the most dynamic, sonically transparent speakers around. I would take them over B&W 804's anyday! The build quality, materials, hardware, and especially the sound really set these apart. You can't go wrong!!!

I bought these Studio 60s after my son blew up my 9SEMKIIIs. I also owned a pair of Thiel 1.5s between the two Paradigm models. My wife actually liked the Thiels (smaller), but I missed the bass the Paradigms render.?xD;?xA;When I first hooked up the 60s, my initial reaction was disappointment. Vocals sounded rough and edgy; it took a few weeks to break in the tweeter I reckon. No complaints at all after break in. The bass is deeper than the 9SEMKIIIs and the highs are nearly as detailed a the Thiels. The Thiels are hard to beat in the area of detailed clean trebel. ?xD;?xA;As I've owned the 60s for two years now the upgrade urge strikes periodically. Sound Stage, imaging are great, overall a great speaker.

Well I waiting a few months to do a review and I must say I am very pleased with the speakers. I was debating between the Studio 40's and the 60's and went with the 60's. These speakers are great for music as well as HT. I use then 70/30 so I was interested in the music more so than HT. I spend a nice few hours listening before I decided in favour of the 60's over the 40's. I was first going to purchase the 40's and even had them on order, but the more I listened the more I began to like the 60's for music. This is only my personal preference and I am sure I would have been happy with the 40's as well. The 60's have what I can only describe as a wall of sound. I keep having to get up to make sure the centre channel was not on when I was listening to music. I can only image what these speakers will sound like when I upgrade my AV Receiver to some better Denon equipment. Anyway I can only say Paradigm make a great products and after listening to a number of different brands B&W, Energy, etc. I thought these were the best. The price of $1050 is Cdn with no Gst.

I was impressed with the Monitor 11''s and listened to them quite a few times and thought they were the speaker, sound,quality and price.the last audition the salesman brought a pair of these up to show the difference, I couldn''t believe the difference, just in the vocals in a piece of music,and bass compared to the 11, Don''t hesitate audition them

I just got these speakers yesterday and I can''t get enough of them. Prior to the Studio/60''s I had a pair of Klipsch KSP 400''s. They''re a lot of speaker ($3,500, 15" powered sub/speaker, molto efficient), but I never really cared for the sound (slow, boomy, poor imaging). I finally decided to get rid of them and decided to evaluate the Paradigms and Definitives. After listening to a few models within each brand it became clear to me that the Paradigm''s had the best blend of accuracy and imaging. I them focused on determining which model to go with. My budget was $800. As is usually the case with my purchases I start out at price point that I can afford and then upsell myself. Due to my vendors trade up program I was able to stop myself and leave, very happily with the Studio 60''s. They provide me with everything I need for my Music only system; no sub required. I am running them with my Yamaha vx 793 Receiver and they blow away the KSP-400''s. I can''t wait to get my McIntosh back from Binghamton and really see what they can do.
