Bought these direct from Pinnacle, based in part on recommendations I read here.Good speakers overall, with astonishing bass for modestly priced bookshelf
speakers. They seem to be at their best with simpler musical textures in the
alto-to-baritone range, as well as anything with much percussion. I'm not
yet sure I like listening to sopranos or lush orchestral music on these; that
may change with break-in and better cabling. I'd give them a 4 for absolute
performance, and a 5 for performance-for-the-money. The bass and the low
price give them an edge over competitors such as the B&W 302, Tannoy M1, or
NHT SuperOne, at least to my ears.

Strength:

Great range. Deep base, crisp highs.

Weakness:

Still thinking....

Great speakers. I went to every audio store within many miles of my house, listening to every bookshelf speaker i could with the same set of CD's. Pinnacle's performed the best in my book. I used them initially as stereo speakers. Now they serve as the fronts for my 5.1 system.

I have had a pair of AC650's for about a year now. I beleive I paid $215/pair via mailorder. Having listened to several other speakers in the $300-500 range, the AC650's were by far the best sounding. They excel in bass reproduction for a bookshelf model their size. The high freqeuncy spectrum is clear and smooth. They are an especially good choice for someone seeking a speaker that handles home theatre applications as well as a solid "audio only" application. They provide excellent imaging for audio, and a seamless soundstage in the HT appilcation. For those who are considering NHT SuperOnes,Titans or similar, listen to the AC650's....they perform better and arguably without a subwoofer
addition....not to mention about $100/pr less in price(ooops! I just mentioned it).A lot of $peaker for the $$'s

I bought these speakers from onsale.com as CM-90. I email pinnacle presistantly asking what the deal was because I had never heard of them before. They finally informed me that they were indeed AC-650, and because of some deal with onsale they were called something else. I then went to box my speakers came in and tore off the white sticker on the side that said CM-90 and behold there it was AC-650. I was especially happy when I found the retail price of these speakers, becuase I only paid $99 for the pair. Due to the price and the outstanding quality I got from these unexpected wonders I must give the AC-650's the highest rating.

Strength:

Great imaging, crisp highs, rich lows. Quality connectors and build

Weakness:

Rather plain looking

These are great speakers for the price. Bose can't even touch these speakers for sound quality and imaging. I compared these to a lot of higher priced speakers and would have to say that these are just as good if not better than most.

I bought these speakers about 2 years ago when I went to college. They replaced a pair of Mission's that were a hand me down from my father. I paid $260 for them. At 260 dollars these speakers have amazing sound. I have them hooked up to a yamaha rx-485 with a Marantz CD-48. The sound is wonderful. This ystem is not the type of system that will give the last word in detail, but it sure comes close. I have heard of people getting them for a little as 180 a pair being that they are discontinued. GIVE THEM A LISTEN. Pinnacle speakers, I think, are very underated. I never hear much about them. They are definately a well kept secret.

I had these for a year or so, they replaced an old pair of Polk 5jr monitors. I paid around $275 if I remember correctly - I think they list for $375. These were a definite improvement over the Polks, quite transparent, and surprisingly clean down to fairly low frequency. I ran them with a Onkyo 414 Pro. The finish and build is their weakest component, though even that is about what you'd expect from a $300-$400 speaker.

Strength:

Bang for the buck, good support

Weakness:

I would have to be really picky to find something.

First the only bad thing to report: a bad 6.5 driver out of the box. I was shocked. Pinnacle's support was shocked. I assured them that I had swapped the drivers in the speakers and no matter what the driver failed to function properly. I received a replacement driver 2 days later, replaced the bad unit, put it in the PREPAID return box and shipped it from work. Time for replacement: 2 days Cost:$0

That's pretty good.

That aside these speakers have been outstanding. They play everything I have to listen to with at the very least acceptable sound quality. I picked them up almost a year ago for $199 (a pair) with the widescreen center for $179. I quite frankly love them. I am looking to get some of their Pinnacle Gold Rear channel speakers to finish out.

Other system components:
Harman Kardon AVR55
Infinity BU-8 Sub
Panasonic 110 DVD player (very unfairly maligned DVD player, 2 years with no problems and has never failed to play a disc)
JBL J520 bookshelf for rears

The panasonic is on deck to be replaced by a Toshiba SD1200 (for picture quality purposes), it was bad out of the box, apparently rare. I'm a magnet.

Strength:

Beautiful sound,excellent price, quality construction

Weakness:

Can't think of any worth mentioning

I picked these speakers up for $175 open box, at Fry's Electronics.I have had these speakers for around 1 year now. Actually they have been lying around unused for almost 8 months. I had these speakers hooked up to my Sony shelf system. They sounded very flat so I never used them. I finally wised up and shelved the shelf system and purchased a Yamaha AX-592 integrated amp. What a difference! These speakers sound lovely when hooked up to my new amp. Jazz and vocal performances sound very natural and detailed. I wouldn't recommend them for rap, hip hop, or most modern pop music. These types of music seem to produce "wooly" sound. I think that these speakers shine when the music is not very complex. Put on some Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., etc. By the way, I have them standing on SoundDesign speaker stands. Definitely, get a decent pair of speaker stands, good speaker wire, a good amp, and you will get the maximum sound out of these speakers. The quality of construction is also very good. Just take a look at the binding posts and you'll understand what I mean. I have become a Pinnacle fan and hopefully within a few months I will be able to afford a pair of their Classic Gold Towers.
