Strength:

very good sound for my music style, remarkable bass to dollar ratio

Weakness:

i only have one pair

i use alot of speakers and electronics equipement on a daily basis for dj applications. i need clean sound and get anal when something sounds inadequate. these speakers are very accurate reproducers of what i have recorded from vinyl to digital. they sound spacious and lifelike when you are in front of them and slightly less so as you travel horizontally away. i use them in my living room for stereo and home theater and really they are beautiful in there sound mated to a harmon amplifier- a match made in heaven i think; the beats, electronic noise, music in general all are about as good as you in reality will experience from any combination of products- there is nothing beyond live performance and these will give you that feeling of being there. home theater is also amazing with these and for the price it's stunning. i agree that they sound better as time passes but they sounded super from day one. they are a little picky about placement. i find that away from corners and about 1.5 ft from rear wall works best for me. the bass is tight and very deep, they surprised me at first with their ability to let you feel how the bass was recorded-very important in house/club/electronic and any music for that matter. overall these speakers are far and beyond anything in their price range and much higher. i also use the widescreen center and love it, for 99.00 it's a fantastic sounding speaker-better than a b&w center i have that i paid 5 times as much for. even my aloof friends who really like b&w (i think more for name than sound) are envious of my setup-because it's for music reproduction not show and tell. classic gold towers are superb for my needs and i would reccomend them to anyone wanting the best for damn near nothing! just a steal, and i have no problem paying a price when it is justified. here's my stuff:
harmon avr7000
classic gold towers(main)
aR 208ho(rear)$99.00 now at accessories4less.com
widescreen center from onsale.com
samsung 709 dvd post upgrade very nice unit but keep it cool! no built in crap decoders
toshiba 36" monitor-flawless picture if you didn't know
sony es cdp 910 classic cd sound
dcm subwoofer
i also have:
sony es tan-77 integrated amp thats superior to just about everything in sound
tascam cdr 5000 rack unit
aphex c2 unit
2 sony minidisc 930's
sony cassette deck 635 i think
2 vestax pdt 5000 turntables
2 technics 1200 turntables
alesis compression unit
boehringer expansion unit
dbx xb150 bass amp driving 2 15" mtx sealed box mono 4 ohm
in house- this is some silly bass but what the hell
tannoy and yamaha near field monitors
2 fender 15" with compression horn loudspeakers on poles
vestax pmc 15 mk2 mixer (great features on this)
all i use is ar cable no need to spend more for cable- it's all hooey, solid construction is most important to avoid signal degredation and at runs under 6ft it's minimal if anything at all,accessories4less.com has these cheapest.
speaker cable is 12 gauge from home depot for .33 a foot with no connectors- short straight runs you can't go wrong.
spend money on things that matter like a good dinner-cause your pallette can tell the difference in flavors where your ears won't know between .33cents and $100 per foot i promise. 5 stars value 4 stars overall because those attractive brass feet will etch your tile if not carefull.

Strength:

Incredible Bass. Good mids and highs.

Weakness:

Build Quality

I am another egghead who bought these speakers. I have only had them for 3 weeks and so far so good. What everyone has said about the bass is true. It is REALLY good. Sometimes I think my M&K sub is on when it isn't. My system consists of a Kenwood VR 3090 DD reciever, Pioneer Elite DVD, M&K Sub, 4 of these Pinnacle speakers for front and rear and the Pinnacle Widecenter channel speaker I got from egghead. I replaced the Difinitive Technologiy speakers I had and moved them to another room.

These Pinnacles, in my opinion, are the equals of my DT's. For the money (egghead curerncy of course) they are in a class by themselves. I am very pleased. I was a little worried by Chris' reviews but I cannot hear the brightness he does. I guess all of our ears are different. It certainly sounds as though he gave them every opportunity.

I would buy these speakers at their retail price now that I have heard them. I only bought them unheard because of the egghead price and am not unhappy at all.

ps. If you want another great deal look at the Kenwood VR3090 reciever that ubid is selling for $350.00.

Strength:

Good clean, deep, tight bass; clear sounding reproductions at most levels.

Weakness:

Bass can sometimes be a little overpowering, but hey it's all goooood.

Like most people here, I got these speakers from Egghead at a ridiculously low price about two months ago. From day 1 I've been impressed and very much satisfied with these speakers and the purchase. Bi-amping them definitely increases the bass and the sound quality, in my opinion. I'm not an expert in sound but these speakers sound great overall and I would recommend them to everyone, especially at the price I and everyone else here got them for. Stepping up from some crappy KLH's, hey I'm cheap and was in college, the change in quality was quite noticeable. I have them hooked up to a Nakamichi AV7 receiver, a JVC cd player and a Teac equalizer. I'm not sure how it''s going to sound outside of a small room, like in a living room, but I'm certain the sound and bass will still be fantastic. Great speakers and great price.

Casual Listener

I wanted to post an update to my last review. I was listening to the new Santana compilation album (can't remember which track) and I definitely noticed the harsh highs that a couple of the reviews below refer to. It was annoying, and I was forced to compensate for it via my receiver. It was only on the one track (so far), but it was pretty damn bad - it literally hurt my ears. I am hopeful that by the time they break it, it will be better. On the whole, however, I am still quite happy with the performance and would still recommend them for the price ($199.00 per).

Strength:

Excellent imagining, good tonal balance, superb bass.

Weakness:

Mundane looking cabinet

My music system is seperate from my home theatre system and consists of two of the Gold Towers and two Sapphire 87's pushed by a Harmon Kardon PM 660 integrated amp connected with Geneva Series S cable. My Kenwood DP-R 3070 cd, Pioneer TW-604 RS tape deck, Pioneer PL-60 turntable and even the HK TU 911-A tuner sound more musical than ever before.
The soundstage which is presented is awesome for the space in which it is housed (24x15x10) and I hear clarity and detail that I only thought could be achieved by spending thousands of dollars on speakers, not hundreds. The bass extension practically eliminates the need for a subwoofer, and the dispersion is excellent. One caution however, Gold Towers must be allowed to break in as is true with most speakers. And, it is a good idea to experiment with positioning. The original occasional tweeter shrillness once present on some music has now faded into increasing smoothness. If one would like to consider himself as an entry level audiophile, get a pair of these speakers while you can. I feel they are worth the $1095 list price but may be had for hundreds less. Couple these puppies with an excellent power supply connected with good speaker cable and sit back. You will not be disappointed once they break in.

Strength:

PRICE! Looks

Weakness:

None found

My first impression of these truely awesome speakers was the same as many of the previous posts: Lows great enough to unplug the sub-woofer (I did) and highs clean and sweet. I also heard what I thought was less than equal attention to the midrange. You can barely buy garbage locally for $ 398 pair, and I found the build well done. One speaker did arrive with two of the four snaps on the grill broken, but one phone call to Pinnacle, and a few days later, a new grill arrived. No fuss, no proof of anything.
Having listened to them, with my Sony DB 930 with no equalizer and ADF (no soundfields), connected with 12 Ga. wire, I have come to the conclusion that these Pinnacles are simply accurate and unforgiving. Try the Dixie Chicks or Bonnie Raitt, the female voices don't sound like they're coming from an open closet in the next room, they're bright and right in your face (ears). Then try Steve Winwoods's Back In The High Life Again album. He sounds like he's singing from the floor below. Answer: crummy recording = crummy sound. They do seem to "soften" a bit after break-in.
I really have no idea which speakers are the best, even with a real audiophile downstairs for a neighbor. I can say that for the money, you can beat a lot of the competition have truely fine sounding speakers.

Strength:

Excellent imagining, Deep Bass, Clear Midrange and High

Weakness:

None

I am so glad I made the right decision to buy Pinnacle Classic Gold Tower. These speakers are awesome!! They reproduce incredible sound imagining, you can see(hear) the performer singing in front of you when your eyes closed. The high and midrange are so clear and bass is superb. These speakers can easily blow away JBL S312, Infinity RS5, Infinity Overture 2, Polk RT600 and I don't think they are even in the same league. In my opinion, these speakers
can easily compete with $1500 to $2500 per pair speakers like Paradigm Studio 80, B&W DM 604 S2, Klipsch KLF 30..etc
A easy 5 stars...I can even give them 10 if I can..
