Strength:

Very good sound for the price, deep and warm bass, good midrange. Soundstage is good too. Suitable for large rooms.

Weakness:

Not the most detailed. Treble is not perfect. Very big and not necessarily very esthetic. No spikes.

These are probably one of the best speakers I heard for their price. The bass is not audiophile-class but is very live and can fill a large room very nicely. The 12" drivers mean you won''t really require a subwoofer for HT (they get down even below the specified 35Hz). The midrange is excellent, the best part of these speakers. The treble is emitted through two drivers: one for the 3KHZ-10KHZ range and one for 10KHZ+ frequencies. The treble is pretty good overall, especially from the 3KHZ-10KHZ tweeter. The soundstage is quite good and sound is quite detailed for this price range. They are mostly recommended for good recordings of all types, and especially live recordings. Old and bad recordings seem to give them a very hard time. Although it might not seem like it, I was extremely pleased with these speakers, and haven''t heard anything quite like them for up to 500$. Excellent bargain.

Strength:

good sound, relatively low cost

Weakness:

size

These speakers have wonderful sound at a list price of $100
each. Good highs, mids, and very good bass. The only drawback is they are about 26 inches high and weigh about
25+ pounds. Hence, they are floor standing models. I like their sound more than sub-sat systems, that cost a lot more.
How would I improve them? Videoshield them and allow them to be purchased singly so you could buy 5 of them and use them in DD surround system for a mere $500 without needing a sub!
Highly recommended.

Strength:

Decent bass at medium to medium-high volume, good midrange (except at high volumes), and trebble is sufficient at medium to medium-high volumes, bass is decently low

Weakness:

Distorts to early, treble is too dead at low to medium volumes, sounds very bright at lower volumes (a characteristic of almost any speaker system without a sub that i have heard)

these speakers are ok if you are going to listen at moderate volume levels. I would not recommend these to anyone who likes their music LOUD, but if you just want a moderate-sounding casual stereo/home theater system, then these would definatley do the trick. I personally would much rather have maybe a pair of bookshelf speakers with nice high-end and have a subwoofer.

Similar Products Used:

KLH (home-theater speaker package), terrible sensitivity, did not get loud at all, not much impact in the treble/midrange area

yamaha (bookshelf speakers)- did not sound as full, needed a sub-woofer to get the full-effect
