I purchased in high school 1992 era. They have lasted through moves across state and country. From college to current day 2017 and still sound clean. No rips, deterioration, or issues mechanically. Box is scuffed and scratched particle wood with wood tone veneer. 15” woofer Bass is broad and full , but not punchy like you would get from a 10” woofer. It is clear but mid range is very full. Great for rock and pop. But high end is little throaty for classical bit that’s just being I’ve read needs changing out of caps to mid and tweeter to better tune the speaker. Can bump some serious bass and volume up to 150 watts per speaker and handles well. But this is not a sub woofer so totally different type of bass sound. I would prefer a much smaller speaker today. I use on places on top of a 3 foot shelf on side, head high seated, approx. 3 -4 feet apart. 6-10 ft. Would be better but I don’t have space. Running on a NAD1300 preamp and a Sony 77e power amplifier sounds much better than my old technics receiver (or the original pioneer receiver that died in the 90’s.) sounds great on my Rotel 955 tt. They are also good with movies and tv with the exception of needs a sub for better rumble range.

I bought my set of 4 from service merchandise in the early to mid eighties. My set are 150 watt at 6 ohmn rated. amazingly none of the cones have a tear let alone complete disintegration. Still have great sound as well. Pioneer makes great equipment. Paid $100 a piece back in the day. Good investment. Enjoy!

I have a pair of these old boys and they jam out powerful sounds through a Sony TA 636 amp for my CPU , they are a great product and they are old .

Hey now...I've had lots of speakers over the years....some: EPI 100 (acoustic suspension), Marantz 5G (bass reflex),.....etc., etc.......also designed and built speakers, checked them with level meters, etc.......the CS-g403 is an EXCELLENT speaker...but you have to set them up following Pioneer's notes...(specific feet above floor, out from walls).......follow the instructions and you have the best set up short of a pair of Altec-Lansing A7 units......I run everything thru these-rock, classical, jazz-excellent sound..know your room acoustics and adjust for them-that's the answer.......these are top shelf...by the way, ALL Wharfedale speakers are junk, and anybody using them has no clue...'nuff said.

Well I got those speakers from a friend and to be honest I am not that impressed by them especially with 15" woofers. They have a lot of power but you don't have to give them much bass. They can't handle a lot of bass and if you want to play them loud you should lower the bass. The high and mid are ok. They are very nice looking floor speakers. I still have them home and I play them once in a while.
