Strength:

Best 6.5 inch speaker I have heard, with an extrordinary tweeter.

Weakness:

None.

Not all 1" soft dome silk tweeters are created equal . The neobydnium magnet on this model and the low crossover frequency make it superb sounding, and it casts a wide image with its large anabolic wave guide. The rim shots of drums, brushes on cymbals and violin overtones are as good as I have heard from any tweeter. The 6.5" injection molded polypropylene mid/woofer is as good as Athena technologies poly's in my opinion; Excellent clean accurate midrange and bass down to about 60 Hz, where its low hz rolls off fast, same as with most 6.5 inch speakers.I put them in place of my Inifinity 160's rears and Alpha 20 mains temporarily just for fun. Now I am sorry I spent so much on the Infinities. These are available at etronics for 119.00 per pair; an extra-ordinary bargin for Pioneers attempt at an American designed primo speaker which suceeded big tome, but which is little advertised. It also a superior speaker to the Polk R20's, which I have owned too.I have heard no better 6.5 " speaker under 500.00

Strength:

low price, extreme well defined and accurate bass guitar sound, depth and airiness, small footprint compare to 8"

Weakness:

brand name "pioneer", bit lack of clarity compare to 3way system (w/ midrange)

WOW... get them if you can... I was looking for monitors to reproduce accurate bass and drums sounds in the $400 range. After days of reading reviews, I narrowed down to CSW M80 and JBL s38. Since there was a clearance at Fry's, I also gave the Pioneer a try. Using Erika Badu (live), Le Nguyen (w/ Trilok Gurtu on drums) CDs, the Pioneer comparing to the csw and jbl has:
-Accurate bass
-Great depth
-Smooth treble
-Smaller footprint
The jbl and csw has bit more clarity and reverb due to the extra midrange and titanium (jbl), but hi/mid/low frequency seem to be at a closer planes while the "little" Pioneer has more/better bass and depth. Iso technology works! 6 stars for the value!

Strength:

crisp hight and tight low bass. Build quality

Weakness:

midrange

The Pioneer SDF2Ks are the exceptional build quality for the money. They are being sold everywhere for less than $150. The enclosure is made from MDF and the terminals are all very high quality 5 way binding posts. I can't beleive for less than $150 you can have these. I have openned the drivers to see inside and got overwhelmed with the very high quality crossover made and MDF enclosures.
The sound is very impressive overall. The deep tight bass plus soft crisp high really stunned me when I first listened to it. Only draw back is that the midrange comepare to the Aegis Ones. I beleive the Pioneer SDF2K has deeper bass than the Aegis One.
With $150, I bet you can never find a better speaker.

Strength:

Great frequency response

Weakness:

none-for the price

Pioneer Iso - Drive speakers offer a great technology for very little cost. Great sound quality for music and DVD. Four of these, a center channel and a powered sub WAY out-perform Bose, hands down! My friend was so ticked when I spent about $700 to his $1200 for Acoustimass 15. He agrees that the pioneer speakers sound way better. A definativly great purchase!
