My local audio shop had these speakers for about one week before he sent them back, and that was six days longer than he should have had them. Not only are they big, made of plastic, and ugly, but they were so brite and lean on bottom end that we both had ear fatigue in about 10 min. We checked all settings and hook ups to be right and tryed again. All I kept thinking was RUN AWAY!!! The price on this system is around $4000!!!! If you want a good laugh, go check these out. |

Strength:
Price; Look good and mount easily.
Weakness:
Quality. I bought just the S700's on Ubid in May 01. I moved into my house on 18 May 01, and was looking at a blown speaker on 4 Jul 01. I use this site quite a bit when looking for stuff, so I thought I'd add my experience in case it helps someone out. I got these for 52 bucks a piece on Ubid and was very happy about it. I have a Pioneer Elite receiver, which has been awesome, so I figured how could I go wrong with the speakers right? Well, I got a little more than a month out of them, and needless to say, I will not purchase anymore Pioneer speakers. Live and learn. I'm giving 3 for the value, but 1 overall because they are a complete waste to me. |

Strength:
Looks, directable sound without directing the entire speaker and Explosions
Weakness:
Height These speakers ROCK! I did not pay MSRP for them and I do not believe they are worth that price ($3500 a pair), but not too far from it. Many people complain about audio CD's not sounding good out of these speakers, but I have found that putting the reciever in a direct or stereo mode fixes most problems. They do seem to have a (very) little too much in the high freq. range though for my taste. This is nothing that a good EQ can not fix however. I love being able to direct the sound without setting the speakers at an angle as well. Similar Products Used: Infinity IL-50 |

None I purchased these speakers about 3 months ago. I ran into a price that I couldn't refuse. I had read the reviews on this website. It seemed like there were 2 bad reviews on the speakers. Funny thing is the 2 reviews seems like they're from the same person or at least that is where the return emails came from. It makes me wonder if he actually listened to these speakers or has something against Pioneer. I listened to the speakers not expecting much. I put on Saving Private Ryan in DTS and couldn't believe the sound these speakers gave. The highs and lows that the front speakers give are unbelievable. The subwoofers in the front speakers add a great punch. It's nice not having to have a seperate subwoofer for your system. The center channel speaker gives very detailed sound also. The center channel has a subwoofer in it also which is nice to have. The surround speakers do not have a subwoofer but offer great surround sound. I then listened to some CD's to see how music performed throught the speakers. I listened to the music in the stereo mode. Contrary to the bad review the bass was not busting out on these selections. I tried all different types of music. These speakers sound great regardless of what you put on them. If you're looking for great speakers for home theater or to listen to some great music try these speakers out. I know that there is a cardinal rule not to buy speakers from an electronics company but Pioneer has broken the mold with these speakers. By the way they look as good as they sound. Find an electronics store with the speakers and demo them out. They're worth it. |
